  1. Yeah, I forgot to mention that. The "Watch List" feature is especially nice. I have it packed with items I want and stuff I use a lot of so I can easily just go to the list and add them to my cart when I make an order. I like make an order every few months or so and buy a lot of stuff at once. It saves me a ton on shipping.
  2. I have placed 3 or 4 rather large orders from them, and have had not had a single issue. I prefer to use them for tools and supplies, due to their great prices and selection.
  3. You know, it is funny you mention that. I too, have asked myself that very question. Why does it have to be ONLY 1/48 for me? I really can't find an reason, other than I tend to do things in an orderly and consistent fashion in most aspects of my life. I think I also like the fact that all my display builds will be the correct size relative to each other. Other than that, I cannot think of a reason to stay to one scale...
  4. I prefer 1/48 because they are not quite as large as 1/32 (only so much display space), but still large enough for me to work with. Also there is a much larger selection of subjects (and aftermarket decals) in 1/48. 1/72 is just too small for my sausage fingers to manipulate. LOL
  5. Man that is fantastic! I love those markings and the color is just so striking. I had not considered doing an F-2a/b, but now I am on the look out for a 1/48 Has kit! Your build has inspired me to build one too!
  6. I use ScaleHobbyist or HobbyLinc for about 90% of my needs, and Ebay for the rest. ScaleHobbyist in particular has great prices, especially for tools and building supplies, and shipping is very reasonable. Once the shipping rate gets to like $9.95 it stays that amount no matter how much more you add to your order.
  7. Hey Darren, it seems there is a guy on Z5 selling TWO for $25 ea. I thought about buying them, but I can't get approved to join that site (been like a year) so I gave up trying. Anyway, here is the link: My HUGE stash for Sale! I hope they are still available and you are able to get one or both. Mods, if linking that site is not allowed, please forgive me and delete it.
  8. I couldn't agree more. Despite the little squabbles about kit accuracy and weathering techniques I see from time to time, everyone here has been nothing but helpful to each other and welcoming to a newbie modeller like me. I feel like I have found a home here and find myself eager to log in each day to see what's new. I hope some day I can become knowledgeable enough to give back. Thanks ARC!
  9. It's funny you should mention that. I also had seen that the Academy Canopies were not the best, and that the Fairy Hobby Correct ones were the way to go. so I decided to track some down. But once again, I could not find any single seat canopies for sale anywhere. I found the two seater version for sale on ebay, but not the single. If anyone knows where I might find a Fairy Hobby Single seat canopy please let me know!
  10. Beautiful! Very neat and crisp, everything looks perfect. Don't see too many EA-6As built... Well done!
  11. Just as a heads up, I ended up buying a couple of the Miniarm Su-27 noses last night. It appears they only have 1 pc left now. So if you are looking for the best available corrected Su-27 nose, better get it before it's gone! Miniarm Correct Su-27 Nose @ Metal Pitot Tube
  12. Dude, thanks for the link! I know I can't read any of the text, but the pics are worth a thousand words. Modeling with friends by a lake, secluded with minimal distractions, and great BBQ. Seems like Shangri-La to me!
  13. Thanks SO MUCH Andrea for the link!!! I think I will buy a couple of these, despite the fact I did indeed buy a handful of the Metallic Details ones last night (at only $5 each and $8 international shipping, I had to just do it). I am a huge Flanker fan (it is my 2nd favorite AC, after the Tomcat), so I now have a few kits in my stash and will probably add more. My thinking is that I will use the Metallic Details ones first, and then when my skills have improved enough to do great work, I can use the Miniarm ones. I am rather new to this hobby, and it is really funny... I find myself as mu
  14. That is beautiful! I love the unusual subject matter and markings. ...And to think that it was built in a weekend boggles my mind! That "modeling weekend getaway" is a great idea. It sounds like it would be a ton of fun!
  15. Thanks Pep, that was the nudge I was looking for to buy them to use on the kits I bought from you. :) I think I will pick up a couple of them tonight.
  16. Hmm, I think the white nose cone pics are renderings, and the actual pieces are the yellowish ones. Hopefully the actual ones are the better shaped ones. Yeah, I am excited for the Hobby Boss ones. Hopefully they will be well done. As far as the Aviation Art Su-33, I REALLY hope that it comes out eventually, no matter who may end up releasing it. I read the whole thread about it recently and was saddened to hear it has fallen silent.
  17. Thanks for the link Unc2, but everywhere I looked these were out of stock or unavailable. Do you know where one could purchase the Miniarm nose? (or the Pisco one too, can't find one of those either)
  18. Last IMG should be ...[/img] Try that...
  19. I had not noticed those! Hmmm, they look pretty nice too, and once again seems like a very reasonable price for as much as you get...
  20. Hi all! So I have a couple 1/48 Flankers in my stash that I will build eventually (hopefully soon!), and I have been looking at corrected nose cones. From what I have found, there are currently only really 3 types currently readily available: LM Quickboost Metallic Details In particular, I am curious about the Metallic Details one. This is apparently rather new and I have not yet heard much about it. Has anyone used this? judging by the below pics, do the Flanker experts here think it looks "right"? The manufacturer sells them at a very reasonable price, and to make the most out the
  21. Another fabulous build scapilot! Everything looks perfect, and the staining on the underside is particularly convincing. Also the burnt ceramic look of the insides of the nozzles is awesome. This might seem odd, but I really love how the yellow on the markings "pops" against the gray and dark blue.
  22. Fantastic build, nice subtle weathering. Love the somewhat unusual loadout! Such cool markings too... seems SO odd to see GE cans on the gray over white scheme, but I love it! Bravo sir!
  23. Thank you kike! Ah, nice! The Italeri bird is really an easy build. When you finish the Revell, you will be doing better than me! That was my first attempt and now it is a paint test mule. LOL That Furball sheet is nice, I have one too. Some cool subjects on there, you can't go wrong with any of them (I would recommend the VF-84 markings, of course hahah). I want the Furball Tomcats Part 2 sheet, but that mofo is hard to find! I have a couple of Hasegawa Toms in the stash, and I feel EXACTLY like you. I can't wait to build one, but I am scared to death of them after hearing all the
  24. I had heard rumors over the years about bringing it back, but this is the first time hearing this particular angle... South Korea Moves Forward With Plan To Revive The S-3 Viking: Report This would be pretty awesome. Have always love the "Hoover" despite it's ungainliness (and actually most likely because of it, to be honest LOL).
  25. I agree, love that 104 in SEA... and yours looks just perfect to me.
