  1. Has anyone had any issues posting new topics in the Display Case? I tried for a couple days now to make a new post there and I keep getting this: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@arcforums.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error. 2. Thanks goondman! Interesting idea, I will have to think about that. But for now I will keep my free time for building models. 🙂 Thanks chinazou! I also am a huge fan of this camo scheme, it is one of the more attractive ones out there, along with the Su-33 one which I just competed recently...
  3. Thanks Zach! It's always a great compliment to get someone that is not interested in a particular subject to like a model of it, so that feels good! As far as the stands, I make them myself. Here is a link to how I do it and with what. If you are interested further, let me know, I can fill in some blanks and help you with the process... https://www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=16625&p=albums&album=50194 Thanks Falcon, I always appreciate your kind words! Thank you Dylan! Thanks Moritz,
  4. Hi all! So I am just now getting to posting pics of a build I completed two months ago... Been super busy getting married and work has been brutal, so haven't had much time to put together a post. Anyway, here is my 1/48 Hasegawa F-2A of the JSADF 6 Hikotai "Skull Raiders". First time doing an in-flight build in awhile, so it was good to get back to that. I love doing aircraft in their natural environment, and I think I will try to do them more often in the future. The kit is very nice, great detail, very good fit. I enjoyed the entire build, it was a nice chang
  5. Thanks CJ, I am always glad to hear your feedback on my work! I have done the marbling technique on two different gull gray over white builds, a Hobby Boss F3H-2 Demon and a Tamiya F-14A. Both times I made the effect less noticeable since it seemed that paint scheme seemed to hold up a bit better than the later TPS. I say go for it, underside too! It is easy to control how much of the effect you let through just by how much paint you put down over it. But be careful, it is easy to go to far quickly and lose the effect entirely.
  6. That is great news, I love that stuff! I think the big issue now will be if MRP can keep up with the demand or not.
  7. Thanks Bastian! This is still my favorite build I have done so far. 🙂 Thanks Tap, I appreciate that! Thanks Calum, I always appreciate your kind feedback. Thanks Sephen!!
  8. I noticed on FB today that Kitty Hawk posted a pic of the many Sukhoi kits they currently make and are planning for the future, and one picture REALLY caught my interest... It appears they are planning on doing the Su-30SM, which is the one aircraft I have most wanted to see made in 1/48. Pretty excited by this, as KH's Sukhois have been pretty good so far. 2nd row 2nd pic... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2376754182583193&set=gm.659681941167854&type=3&theater
  9. Hi all! Back with my latest completed project, the 1/48 Hasegawa AH-64D Apache Longbow of the 1-285 Aviation Battalion, Arizona Army National Guard (ARNG) stationed at Marana, Arizona, from it's 2006 deployment to Afghanistan. The subject I chose is from Charlie Company, known as the "Lobos". The Hasegawa kit is very nice, but being that I am not as familiar with building Helos this one took a lot longer than most of my builds. So many dangly bits and protrusions! I added the Metallic Details Longbow radar and Aires Cockpit. The Aires cockpit actually fits very nice
  10. Hello! I used a Rotary tool with a generic diamond cut wheel to get close, then sanded with sanding sticks to get the rest of the way to my pre-marked lines. Using a rotary tool with a large cutting wheel as I did takes some serious nerves, and you have to be very careful. That mofo eats through plastic instantly, which is both good and bad. LOL
  11. This is really awesome work Paul, as usual! Just love this scheme too. Bravo!
  12. Thanks Shan! I kinda like that about this scheme, as it is one of the few Flankers that are all one color, top and bottom. Thanks tonal! This is my favorite model that I have built so far (out of 34).
  13. Thanks Rom! Always glad to have your feedback! Thanks Steve, this is indeed also my favorite build of mine thus far. I am just so stoked how it turned out, especially how much surgery was involved, and being the first time I have done such a task. As for building more, next up is 1/48 Hasegawa Ah-64D with some resin bits. But compared to this one, the Apache should be a cakewalk. I will be starting it after I return from Bali at the end of this month. Thanks Andy! Yeah, the twin seat Flankers, in particular, have a very "all busines
  14. Thanks Falcon... I got good news for ya... 😉 Thanks master! Thanks dox! She is all done now...
  15. Hi all! Well, it's that time again... Another finished project! This time it is the 1/48 Hobby Boss Su-30MKM Flanker-H conversion from the base Su-30MKK kit using the Naza Model Art MKM conversion. The build WIP thread can be viewed here: The Su-30MKM is the Malaysia specific variant of the Su-30, based off of the Indian Su-30MKI. It has canards and thrust vectoring exhaust in common with that aircraft, however there are many things that make the MKM unique among Flankers. It utilizes western avionics from France and South Africa, and many feature not seen on
  16. Thanks Rom! You know, I struggled a bit with what to do with the air brake (closed or open). I agree with you it does tend to break up the sleek profile, but I decided to model it open for two reasons. 1. - there are so many lumps, bumps, protrusions, dangly bits, and other things on the MKM it just kinda fit in with the subject to have it open. With the open canopy, canards, and open air brake there is some really cool symmetry of angles these create as well. 2. - The airbrake itself is interesting. The inside of the air break itself is the Russian yellow prim
  17. Very nice work Kamal! I am currently finishing up my own Su-30MKM, using the Naza set and Hobby Boss kit, so I can understand the work that went into this. Well done!
  18. So I got a lot accomplishedl last night, got the burner cans done (although I will hit them with a flat coat to tone them down a little) and the vertical and horizontal stabilizers, as well as the canards on. Also attached the deployed air brake and IRST clear part. This thing REALLY looks awesome in person, and it is my favorite model that I have built so far. I am really excited to get this one done! This will be the last update on the WIP, next up will be the final reveal in a couple days. Still ha
  19. Thanks Mario, I appreciate the kind words! Thanks Jonathan, I am glad you enjoyed this build. I really have enjoyed this, despite all the work needed to convert it. I just love the twin seat canard Flankers so much, and the MKM is my favorite of those. Was glad to have ya along for the ride! Thanks, and I completely agree Falcon, the Kryptons are just one mean looking missile. It's hard to build a Flanker and not include some. LOL
  20. OK, update time! Well, she is on her feet now and got the weapons done, that took quite some time, even without many decals (kit does not come with many, and I didn't want to use the training markings. 2x Kh-31s, 2x Kh-29Ts, 2x RVV-AE (R-77 export version), 2x R-73s, and one Thales Damocles pod w/NAHAR pylon. I am very happy with how these turned out, especially the Kh-31s. Pics of MKMs show these rarely carry any weapons, so this will be a mostly fictional load, although it is possible. Getting close, the finish line is near!!!
  21. Thanks Brett, I appreciate the kind words! If you do build this kit, I will be eager to follow along!
