  1. Thanks el`TJ. I was kind of worried about the extraction rate but my worries proved to be unfounded. I sprayed a off cut of conti board with halfords gloss white from the can. To the point that the paint was dripping off it. This stuff stinks. I mean really pongs as you well know if you have used it. I then left both the can and the wood in the booth and invited my wife into the workshop. She couldn`t smell it so I consider that to be good enough and we all know how women love to moan about the smells we produce. With regards the F4 I brought one for the same price and was given a sec
  2. Heres the plans, a bit basic so I apologise. Its built out of 15mm conti board and all told including the fan light and piano hinges came in for around £40. Cheap as chips as they say. Its very self explanatory really. The piano hinges screw onto each of the the side peices. which in turn screw onto the back peice. (600mm is the height). The two top side pieces screw onto the outside edges of the top piece and the front onto the edges of all three. Onto this front piece on the inside you fix the strip light. Cut a hole of the correct size for your fan on the top and the booth is then c
  3. Well in between building my model room, honeymoon, and Easter holidays I have 99% completed my spray booth. Made it collapsable in the end to save space. Heres a couple of shots showing how it collapses. The F4 is the Revell 1/32 just so you can gauge the size of it. The lid is fitted out with a strip light and the fan is a bathroom extractor fan. Glad i went down the collapsing route much easier to store. I plan to route it directly outside unless someone can come up with a cheap and effective method of constructing a filter for the fumes. Comments and critiques as always, we
  4. This is a piccy of the work so far. The electrics are all in the roof done. Just need to complete the dry lining so my mate can plaster it for me. Its shaping up quite nicely. . Cheers for the ideas keep them coming minin me and myself appreciate them. :P
  5. Hey if you think 8 feet by 8 feet is cramped. I want your house. B) (2.6 x 2.6 metres for our european friends. Whom afraid I will never become. British all the way. :P )
  6. I finally did it after several months of tentative negotiation with Mrs Cop. I have secured funding for the construction of a hobby room. Effectively the room is 8" by 8" so a good size and in time will have a window fitted. (Ok its half of my garage with a stud wall, fully plastered, centrally heated and floored.) The lighting is more than adequate as it stands though. Construction of the room itself is nearing completion and I will be adding work benches and etc within the week. Just wondered if anybody had any interesting suggestions or must haves in a hobby room. I already have a purp
  7. For those in the UK thinking of building their own booth, B&Q warehouse do a bathroom extractor fan with a built in lamp for £35. It also has a timer device built in so that when you turn it of the fan keeps going for a designated amount of time. ( You set the time period). All fixtures and fittings less a switch and plug are included. Picked one along with some conti board. Should have a booth built by tomorrow afternoon for about £60. Should keep the new wife happy a smell free model room and house. By the way what s a overspray barrier consist of. Just noticed it on the plans.
  8. i had exactly the same problem heres a link to the suggestions i received. Unfortunately none of the suggestions worked for me so they will only be used for detailed brush work from now on. The link Vajello thinning post :D Cop
  9. Quick update. It went really well and she loved it. With regards the build its relatively easy the only bit to watch out for is the rear fillet join to the main fuselage. And if I do another one I`ll drill and pin the struts to the fuselage for extra strength. Cop
  10. This is the old Matchbox 1/32 Tiger Moth. Built for my soon to be wifes, ( as in this Saturday for the wedding ) aunt. In memory of her recently deceased husband. She often talks about the times when he used to buzz the house in the Moth. Upsetting her mother who was trying to cook Sunday lunch. It was very much a rush job for various reasons and definetly not my best work. But I enjoyed it all the same. Never built a model to give to someone before. Hope she likes it. Hope you lot like it. Cop
  11. Did the needle on my 360 and it seems to have solved the clogging issues. It certainly won`t hurt anyway.
  12. Yeh Know. I want that one.
  13. Does anybody know where I can get hold of a copy in the UK ? Looks like a excellant piece of referance material.
  14. I`ve got one of those. Doesn`t make cleaning easier but it does stop you being choked to death when spraying cleaning fluids through your brush. If you go to swannys site I think he has a article on how to build your own out of a straw, plastic bottle and double sided sticky tape. (An old Blue Peter fan. LOL)
  15. After cleaning up after the girlfriend, yet again, I came accross a material which I think may be perfect for seat harnesses. The foil type wrapper that comes in cigarette boxes. Its easily workable like foil but stronger. It also has a subtle texture to it, perfectly matching the material used for belts. It appears to be porous as well so should make paint application a breeze. And best of all, its free. The only problem now is how to convince my girlfriend to give up this smelly habit. Maybe I`ll ask her to give up for me, as a wedding present. Second tip. We all know about using blu ta
  16. What a complete waste of time and money. They pool, they clog my airbrush, they don`t even cover evenly. Five times I have tried and five times I have had to strip my Harrier. Back to the old fashioned pots of Tamiya and Humbrol you paint and cover beautifully. Never before has the saying, never judge a book by its cover been more apt. With the oh so seductive and easy to use Vajello dispensers and the oh so dreadful paint. Stick with what you know I say. But last of all thanks to all those who have tried to help me through this difficult period, it obviously just wasn’t meant to be. :
  17. Vajello seems to be the paint I have most trouble with. I think I may give up on it and return to Tamiya and Humbrol. Even after using a retarder it drys on the tip and spiders at any consistency. Pity really because i do like the handy bottles. I have trid thinning with Vajello thinners, water, distilled water, I just give up. I wonder if the model shop will have the unused ones back otherwise the way I`m feeling at the moment they are heading for the bin. Cheers for the help anyway. Cop :)
  18. I`ve had this brush now for about 12 months and used it with very mixed results. When I had the badger 200 I remember something about sealing the head of the brush joint with bees wax in order to form a airtight seal. Is this the same with the 360 as I have noticed bubbles from this joint when cleaning. Could this also be the cause for the very hit and miss results I`m having with it. I hope you can help because it surely is driving me insane. It also doesn`t seem to handle very fine lines and clogs very easily no matter how thin the paint is. The paint flow in relation to the needle positi

Cheers for all the tips ( no pun intended ) picked up some of the retarder today. I will give it a go tonight and see how works out. Cop

    Vajello paints.

Cheers for the quick response polybebber, unfortunately they are the model colors and this is the only range that I can get my hands on. Bugger !!! Thanks Cop
  21. i have heard nothing but good things when it comes to these paints and my local hobby shop has started to stock them. I really like the dropper style bottles and the ease at which you can clean up after using them. However i am having a real problem using them with my airbrush (Badger 360). They constantly keep fouling the tip and clogging. I am using Vajello`s own thinner at the moment. Does anybody have any secrets to prevent this ? I would like to move over to them but this is a major stumbling block for me. ( I`m in the UK so local product suggestions would be a great help.) Thanks Co
  22. While we are on the subject, Mike, what are you using to thin Vallejo for airbrushing. As I brought some the other day for the first time after hearing good things. I tried thinning with distilled water but all I got for my troubles was a huge build up of paint onthe needle. ;) Cop B)

    Badger 360

Fantastic love it, want to win the lottery and buy the company. But I did trade up from a Aztec which I just couldn't get on with. Its easy to clean and even a rank amatuer like me can get good results with it. Buy one you won't be disappionted and if you are I`ll have it. :) Cop :)
  24. Has anybody else got one for cleaning airbrush components if so what do you use as a cleaning agent. P.S. If your in the UK Argos do a nice sized one for £19.99 order No 190/0051 Elizabeth Duke Sonic Jewellery cleaner. Cheers.
