  1. It's really easy. Well thinned Tamiya clear yellow sprayed onto the inside of the canopy, in wet coats. Cheers guys . Nige.
  2. Well, another one gets done for the SAM magazine. I enjoyed this one, a lot less screw ups on my part. Time to get back to the serious stuff Nige.
  3. When these came up for grabs at SAM, for review I jumped at the chance. Just the thing to get me back in the swing of things after a lay off due to family life. Let's just say these kits made me pay for my complacency, and highlighted how rusty I am. Nige.
  4. Funny how one year merges into another. I could have sworn I finished more than I have, but on checking half of them where finished last year. Must be an age thing. Leaving me with a grand total of five for the year. Two commission builds, two SAM builds and one for SMW. This was my favourite build of the year and the first outing for my Iwata Micron airbrush. Allowing me to do the cammo freehand. I was gutted when I handed this over. Kinetic 1:48 Sufa Then there was the Skunkworks 1:48 Global Hawk. The hardest part of this build was the painting. Trying to break up the huge expanse o
  5. What style bottle is it in? Is it in a clear plastic bottle, the same packaging they use for their new range of clear kotes? I spoke to the guys on the Alclad stand at Telford, about all the horror stories I had heard abut it not drying etc. I asked if they had changed the formula along with the packaging, but he said not. He then gave me a bottle to try. Once home I sprayed it on some scrap plastic card I had lieing around. It dried rock hard with the hour to a super gloss finish. I then shot some chrome over it and got a perfect result. So I think they have indeed changed the formula for
  6. This is the 1:72 Italeri kit of the Merlin HC.3, built for Scale Aircraft Modelling. It depicts a very well used bird as deployed on op telic. According to Jamie Haggo they regulary get this dirty and worse! And he should know he's been out there and flown them:hypnotised: Just a few shots to wet your appetites. Nige.
  7. No just sprayed straight from the bottle.
  8. I bought a bottle of Alclad Matt Klear Cote at SMW and used it for the first time over a week ago. It seemed to go on a little dusty at first, but I dropped my air pressure and that seemed to sort that problem out. But now, over a week later the stuff is still tacky and rubs off if you handle it. Has anybody else experienced this problem or is it just me? Nige.
  9. Cheers guys, Yeh I suprised myself doing it within 3 days. It usually takes me longer than that to just choose what I'm going to build. Using acrylics helps a lot as well. It's the old school Cylon raided next along with the newer vipers I think. Nige.
  10. This was a super fast panic build. Three days left until SMW and nothing built to fit in with the themed build our club has chosen, at the movies. So I dragged this off the shelf and set to it. I planned to build it straight from the box no mods what so ever, just like Revell intended. To ensure I made the deadline. However, you know what it's like. A full rescribe later and having masked off and sprayed on the markings, I scraped in, just in time. Nothing like making things hard for yourself! This is the Viper Mk1 from the original 1978 series, not one of the Vipers from the new BSG, whic
  11. Well I've been in the cops for the last 16 years and I have never heard of it. We just use the normal email system to contact out of force officers, using the,'officer id' @'force ID'.police.uk adress. In fact none of the forces used linked systems other than PNC. In fact that scratch that I have heard of it. It's the new PNC system, which isn't even online yet! Nige
  12. A milestone reached, the decals are on. And the all important sharks mouth. Nige.
  13. Cheers guys. Yeh I find the beers steady my aim lol. As for the lighting it's a very simple affair. The main lamp overhead then two spots from my photo cube to soften the shadows from overhead and add fill light. Truth been known though, the spots lack the power to be used with the light cube so I'm looking for new cheap ones. Here's a pic. Sorry for the quality I used my iPad. but you get the idea. Nige.
  14. Haven't updated is in while as I ran out of paint. For some strange reason the girlfriend wouldn't believe me! May have something to do with the several hundred I have, of loads of different manufacturers but still no FS36375. I'm using gunze as well, for this build.l Which isn't readily available in the UK apart from one supplier. Who is out of stock. But thanks to a friend coming to the rescue I could push on. This was all done freehand after a couple of beers IMG]http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i51/Cop9885/F-5E/308ab7c1.jpg[/img] Thanks for looking. Nige.
  15. Cheers Shep, Thanks to Don I now have instructions. Cheers Don. You wouldn't happen to have the decal sheet you could scan scan for me? Got to love the helpfulness of this community. Thanks guys. Nige.
  16. Don, Your a star. You have a PM. Nige
  17. Hi guys, Not very often I venture into this forum but I need a favour. I bought a italaerei 1/32 H-34B Huskie today from a show, but there's no instructions or decals with. Now I'm led to believe there was also a Testors boxing of this kit. I'm after a scan of the instructions and decal sheet of either boxing so I can make a start on it. Thanks Nige.
  18. Bah humbug double post
  19. The Revell kit has been re-released and readily available. It also has a new decal sheet for the current paint scheme. They fly over my house most days as I only live about 8 miles away from the Airbus factory in Hawarden.
  20. Cheers guys. Laz, your quite correct. It's just oil washes, with a bit of dry brushing. Clif give into the dark side you know you need one . Cheers for tho offer Sharksmouth. Sorry i don't know your name. But I'm going to be going with the kit decals. Which strangely enough is the vf-111 Sundowners with sharks mouth. Heres a few of more pics. The pit is done barr the joystick. The canopy is just a friction fit at the moment, as is the Canopy retraction mechanism. So I can remove them to mask off the pit easier.
  21. Well it's all the title really. Drop me a pm if you have one your willing to part with. Or even trade, I have quite a large stash. I'm in the UK but I am willing to cover overseas postage. Nige.
  22. Mike Reeves sent me the AFV F-5E as he heard through the grape vine that I was after one. Cheers matey And here it is. It's an absolute dream to build and even Tamiya could learn a thing or two from AFV when it comes to fit. I used Eduards prepainted etch for the panels but wasn't to happy with either the colour of the gray or the flat lifeless surface you end up with . So just to complicate things for myself I masked of the etch and resprayed the gray. Then using very fine plastic rod, I cut it down and added all the switches. I'm really happy how it came out. The fit of the main pa
