  1. Not sure what the odds are for this, but I picked up some montex decals for a beautiful F6F-5 Hellcat of VF-24. Here's my problem - I have the Trumpeter F6F-3N kit. I'm looking for someone who has either the 1/32 Trumpeter F6F-5 or F6F-5N kit in exchange for my F6F-3N kit. I know all the Trumpeter "N" kits can be built as straight up day fighter versions by just leaving out the "N" parts.

Let me know if you can help me out at all, maybe I can sweet'n the deal with some spare decals or pay for your shipping.

    thanks for considering.

  2. Outstanding!

Too bad my replacement wheels weren't completed in time ... I am almost there.

If you ever want to build another one, drop me a line on my site, and I will send you a pair.

    Cheers!

Wow, Brian - those look amazing! It was a fun build. I'd do another one again. Unfortunately the decal options for this kit are limited. Maybe a D Day scheme would be cool?

Awesome job...kinda funky looking for a 32nd scale Navy jet tho????

haha, lots of 1/32 jets in the stash - but I haven't touched one in over two years! blink.gif

NOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That seems to be one of AMT's better kits.

I don't have a ton of experience with AMT kits - but this one was enjoyable. Decent detail, recessed panel lines, and good fit overall. The only problem areas for me were the fitting of the engine nacelles, and the strength/design of the main landing gear.

  3. Just completed (still need to weather the props). 1/48 AMT A-20G Havoc. Aeromaster Decals, Model Master Enamel paints, Quickboost barrels, EZ-line, Eduard Masks & True Details Wheels & Life Raft. Belts made of masking tape and canopy shade/curtain made from a McDonald's napkin yep.gif

  4. John,Thanks for the info - that seems to make sense. So this lighter color dome could possibly be a replacement. That makes sense - This photo from the same squadron seems to have a black domes:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/13/675BombSqCombatCrews.PNG

So I guess the question is should I paint it black or take a crazy guess at what it is in the green hornet photo? Maybe white? Yellow? Maybe there is now way of really knowing?

  5. Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building a 1/48 A-20 Havoc (great kit!!). I'm building it up as the "Green Hornet." My decal instructions as well as side profiles call for a black prop hub as well as a black spinner. Here is an Example. Everyone who uses these decals in a build seem to paint the black. However, I found photo evidence that the spinner was not black. Check out this Photo of green hornet

Black hub? Sure, but no way on the spinner.

What color would you guess? I'm leaning towards the blue that is also on the tail and nose. What do you think?

  6. I'll be praying for Norah! I have a 3 year old daughter and a 6 month old daughter. I thought I knew what love was - and then I became a dad! Children bring such joy and meaning to life - and help put everything else into perspective. Praying for answers, discernment, and a a full recovery.

  7. hey ya'll.

I've got a couple of bucks languishing in my paypal account. Im looking for the following kits (but I probably can't get all at once) so I'm just seeing if any of these are available.

    1/32 T-2 buckeye - I'd prefer the trainer boxing.

    1/32 Trumpeter P-40B

    1/32 Hasegawa TA-4J

also - just for kicks - I'd be interested in a 1/32 P-61 as well.

I'm located in the U.S. Can can pay via PayPal.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  8. Had a great time today. As much as I loved the Airzoo, the lighting and space at Western was awesome. Great job by all the volunteers!

I managed to go home with only spending $10 at the vendors and somehow this plaque followed me home (my first time placing at a contest, sweet!)

  10. So I have other hobbies. Mountain Biking is one of them. I'm an avid single track cross country - meaning I stick to the woods. Mostly rolling trails with a few obstacles and trees mixed in. I don't to much as far as jumps, beams, etc. Anyways - I decided to try a new trail last Sunday. Its was really less trail - more obstacles. "What the heck, lets try it" I thought.

I also just purchased a GoPro... You can see where I'm heading with this.

Enjoy my pain and suffering. Lesson learned: scope out obstacles BEFORE attempting.

  11. I have a 2 year old and another on the way. I can attest that nap times and at night after they go to bed are the only solid chunks of time I have to work/play with hobbies. That being said, I still have time to quick spray a layer of paint every now and again. I'm a slow builder - so I can deal with it. I've actually built more in the past two years simply because I find value in the free time I now have.
