  1. Hi artoor Yes its a very pretty looking boat! I think there's a mob in melbourne who does one in resin (or is in the process of tooling it up). PM me if you want their details. cheers
  2. Thanks for the review Matt! I have one on the way... cant wait tio get stuck into it! Going a bit OT, do you or anyone else know where I can get a 1/144 Mi28 Havoc? I know that Dragon did one yonks ago.... but i think its been long OOP... I have been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 online and I have been getting creamed by ooponents flying this beastie. Would like to make a model of it! Thanks!
  3. Hmmm, it's hard for me to give you exact figures, but my rough guide is to mix it till its like the consistency of milk... As for pressure, i think you'll need to play around with it on some scrap plastic... Start with lower pressure first, with a lower pressure, you can spray a little closer to the plastic - thats usually means finer lines! If it starts to spit paint, it means the pressure is too low or the paint is too thick. You'll have to find a balance between the two. I find that on hot dry days, the paint sprays better too, maybe thats to do with humidity... I know I am not the mo
  4. Looking good! Is there any major problems with the fit of this kit? With the airbrush, try thinning the paint a little more and try using less pressure on the compressor. With a DA airbrush you should be able to control the flow of paint by how much you pull the trigger. HTH!
  5. That's total BS! Russia is not THAT sunny!! he he, but seriously, that's amazing work! How in the world did you get the lighting so perfectly real??
  6. haha books is just one reason i am there. Dont you worry, i'll cram as much as possible into my suitcases. I might have to chuck out some of my family's clothes to make way for the models...
  7. johnsan! awesome! thats a great link, wonder why i never saw it before!!! Yes Shosen is just a riceball's throw away from Yodobashi... most excellent. I'll definitely give it a visit. Thanks heaps!! :) ollie

  9. Motty, PM sent to you! If anyone else has recommendations to bookshops in Tokyo, feel free to let me know!! Thanks in advance! ollie
  10. Hey Motty! Thanks for the response. I was in Tokyo 2 years ago, spent a coupla days in Akiba. I think i know where Leonardo's is, right outside the main station right? There's a number of hobby shops in that same bldg if my memory serves me right. Although i cant recall Tam Tam! Is that in the same bldg? I must admit one hobby store blurred into the next when i was there, it was like Alice in Wonderland... all those hobby shops plus manga plus otaku plus air soft plus ramen just made my brain go numb. My fav store was yodobashi camera... hopefully i can score a few things there. But what I
  11. Yarrr, love that P-39! I didnt know we had P-39s in WW2 - doh!
  12. yeah i have that in my DVD collection, good for hobby historians/modellers. They did put some effort in making that movie!
  13. A 1/48 scale aircraft with about 6-7 full sprues would set you back anything between 50-100K just to tool up in China (for long run molds). Factor in labour costs, packaging, design, marketing, shipping, distribution costs, production run, taxes etc etc. One consideration is whether your outfit can last 5-10 years by breaking even while paying off the loan or financiers/banks etc. Some small firms go under as they dont have the staying power. Your business plan will have to factor in for a long term project. HTH! ollie
  14. Hi all I know a couple of you ARC'ers are familiar with Tokyo, so which bookshop in which part of town would you recommend? It has to be reasonably easy to walk to from a JR/metro station. I'll be in Tokyo/Kyoto for a short-ish holiday with wife, daughter and 2 friends. I have (only) one free day on my own to go geeking out in akihabara and looking for modelling related stuff. I am esp hoping to get the FAOW series of books (cheap and easy reference)... and in particular the new F1M Pete book. Any help would be appreciated!!!! And if you have time to meet up for a quick lunch and chit cha

  16. Looks really good! the markings are nice too! The weapons dont look as chunky as the ones in their F35 kit - great to see! Hope you didnt pay too much for that Area 88 toy...
  17. Hi Den! Thanks! What do you by 'wing leading edge tanks'? Is that a visible feature where i'd have to scribe new panel lines onto the wing or something? Thanks!
  18. Thats great peebeep! Its a good start! What do you mean abt the 'Long span wing'? Are you refering to the elongated tips? Cheers!
  19. Hi I am building this kit (well I say building but its actually been going on for the past 2 years), up to the stage where i am abt to shoot some paint onto it. First of all I am not a Crusader expert, the Esci kit looks like an F8 to me. I have a few gripes abt the kit: 1. The recessed panel lines are really faint and soft, non existent in some areas. I also suspect some of the lines are wrong. 2. Fit isnt the best, i used a lot of putty, especially the exhaust nozzle joint to fuselage, there is a massive step all around and you need to putty the hell out of it and sand. 3. The canopy sh
  20. good luck! i looked closely at the decals, there hundreds of tiny little stars that you have to place all over the model... not sure if i have the patience for it LOL
  21. Hi Spitfire experts Here's hoping you could tell me what is needed to convert the new Airfix MkIX spit into a MkVIII? I have two of these new MkIX's and I am building one OOB, the other I am hoping to do a MkVIII in RAAF markings. The few things I know are: 1. New retractable tail wheel and doors 2. Pointy rudder Did I miss anything? 1. Do i sand off the bumps inboard of the slim gun cowls? Is that something i leave on for a MkIX? 2. Do i modify/shorten the ailerons? Thanks in advance for any advice...! cheers!
  22. Thats nice work benjo! I gather you are an Ace Combat fan? Just FYI, if anyone wants to build a Idolmaster F-16 in 1/72, one of the Jap magazines (Model Graphix) had a free decal sheet that came with the mag. I plan to get an F16 one day to use the decals...
  23. Looks alright to me, i am not too much of a rivet counter (depends on subject) but i can see myself retiring the old italeri F5E... Cant wait to start on some 80s/90s era NFWS adversaries...!
  24. looks like you need a whole new suitcase just for those kits :), the last time i was there i arrived in tokyo with one suitcase but i left with 2 suitcases and 1 carry-on bag...
