  1. 1st Great Blue Heron sighting of the Day. - Colony Farm Regional Park - Coquitlam, BC. Packed up there...all we were seeing were trees...and the wood-ducks were too skittish to photograph. Headed for Iona Beach Regional Park just northwest of YVR. Low-tide, whole seige of herons...
  2. What else, combining my love for airplanes as well as feathered flying things... 3 Great Blue Herons sitting in the foreground while a B777 comes in final on 26R at YVR. God, that 600mm compresses the focal point. How'd you like that. Mt. Baker looks like its in our backyard!!! N-ikon D300s/600mm f/4 D IF-ED.
  3. Awwww...how convenient. :) Going to George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary (I know...summer, not the best time to go, but I'm goin' anyways) tomorrow with the 600/4. Nope... Went to Iona Beach instead. (pics to follow)
  4. OK...that friggin' does it. I'm going on a road-trip! ...to Bagotville!!! Lookin' good there, Mike. Never got the chance to sit in one...just for the heck of it; even when they were doing public "sit-in-the-CF-188 and get your picture taken..." at Abby during the 80s. Unfortunately, I didn't like standing around in the heat and there was too much around to see and do. Maybe I might stand in line for a change this year if they do have those. Might be fun for my kids and maybe even for my wife.
  5. Normally I dislike the Boston Bruins immensely, but given how much heart Patrice Bergeron put into Game 6...I have to have my hat off to him. Punctured lung, broken rib, torn cartilage. Jeez. That's a hell of a lot to go through and he was one of the most physical players of the game. Much respect. Get better soon, Bergeron.
  6. Don't feel bad. Like I said. I'm a nature-lover (a wildlife photographer) and I was laughing my @** off at this. Yes, I know. I'm going to Hell.
  7. VF-41... The Jollys were just a buncha "film stars". (hides behind couch)
  8. Cruel... But frickin' funny as hell... And I'm a wildlife photographer. I know...I'm bad.
  9. And the night before the supermoon...unfortunately the 23rd was cloudy and rainy...no way to shoot the moon. D300s/70-200mm+TC-20EIII @ 400mm.
  10. I presume by the Flex-I-File you mean Plast-I-Weld; the cement? Any hints on using it without getting "high" on the fumes. 'Cause the Tenax 7R was pretty potent.
  11. Stunning Mudhen, Paddington. The weathering is subtle and not overpowering and it looks absolutely "striking" no pun intended.
  12. Never heard of the MicroMark Same-Stuff before. If my hobby shop has Tenax I'm going to stock up on at least 10 bottles. At least that much may take care of the 50+ models that I have in my minimal stash if I ever damned well get around to building.
  13. Damn...forgot about Flankerman. I'm just gonna forget about specializing on any aircraft. Darren Roberts had me cornered on F-14s by more kits than I can count. I'm not even going to speculate on who has more Bugs. And who knows who likes Vipers (F-16s). I'm sure they'll crawl out of the corner since I've called 'em out. OK...I'm really no modeler. I guess I've just collected the stuff and haven't managed to get up the cojones to do anything with them. So I'll just say smugly... "I've got the BIGGEST LENS!" :P "...so there..." :) Just kidding.
  14. I'm just waiting on the next Brooksie. Who's it gonna be, Botchford, Willes or Gallagher. Torts is going to turn one of 'em inside out if not all three. Go Coach Torts!!! YAY!!! Can't wait to see the new season. :D Gotta tell ya though. Tortsie's gonna go ballistic the first time he catches the D chimping in the penalty kill or screwing up on their zone defense. I am so looking forward to a team that doesn't dive or whine or **** or moan to the refs. I want a team who will go out and decimate. Hell I want a Gino Odjick clone...or hope to hell that Sestito and Kassian will man up
  15. rpeck. I presume the Canucks will be playing a much "grittier" game now that Torts is in town. Of course during the course of the year, there may be some screaming in the dressing room coming from Torts, a la HBO 24/7 "I asked you to ^&*(ING DEFEND!!! I've SEEN YOU @#$%ING DEFEND BEFORE...AND YOU'RE GONNA DO IT HERE!!!! IF THAT IS HOW WE'RE GOING TO BATTLE...WE'RE NOT GONNA HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN. @#$%^ CX$%^&!!! HOW MUCH TIME ARE WE GONNA HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT!!! ..." Ah, the sweet music of John Tortorella after so many years of "hands-off - you coach yourselves" coach
  16. <_< Is that supposed to be some sideways comment? :P Yeah, yeah, I know... I'm happy for Chicago. They deserved to win. Doesn't mean I like it though. :P Would it have rather been my Canucks, but alas, San Jose made sure that it was not to be. DAMN YOU, Sharks!!!
  17. Congratulations, Chicago. In other news: What'd you expect, I'm a Canucks fan. Vancouver officially hires John Tortorella, Press Conference at 1PM. Tony Gallagher crying in beer and shaking violently; News at 11. Torts is going to asking for a lot out of the Sedins. And I'm sure they're going to be up to the task. Higgy looked ecstatic to see Torts. ~evil grin~.
  18. Oh dear god, we have the Phantom who pretty much is our resident Phantom Phanatic; And now Su-27rules who is now our resident "Flanker Freak". I guess I'm just going to have to pick up every Black Aces decal and kit around and lay ownership to the "Black Aces Superfan" title. Nawwwww...sorry, gotta buy a 300mm f/2.8 VRII lens. Adios $6700.00 :(
  19. The pilot at the Vectren Airshow was Charlie Schwenker. My condolences to the Wicker and Schwenker families. Very sad. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/stunt-plane-carrying-wing-walker-crashes-at-ohio-air-show-conditions-of-those-aboard-unclear/2013/06/22/18c1da38-db62-11e2-b418-9dfa095e125d_story.html
  20. ~Sabik~...that thing is STUNNING!!! Please continue to take photos as you continue this build. I would love to see this thing completed and see what it looks like. It looks to be a MONSTER (size-wise) when it's done. I could only DREAM of doing something like this. I can barely even finish the kits that I have where the parts have been already pre-made for me. What you are doing is incredible.
  21. Hush, Andre. You 72 types get all the love in terms of variety. It's only now that 48 scalers have a snowball's chance in hell of catching up. That MiG 29 looks to be a beauty. Wish I could snag one, but my $$$ have someplace else to go. Namely a lens that is going to cost me $6,000.00 (And I'm not talking just the 600mm - think 300mm f/2.8 VRII)
  22. Steven, hopefully. Because otherwise it'll be hacking a piece of Evergreen for the shorter canards. Dunno what else is different about the F-21A variant.
  23. Would be nice to get one for a USN Adversary build.
  24. All I can say is "Good Luck, Bruins" - considering Boston and Chicago are tied 2 a piece. Win Game 5 tomorrow. In other news: Former NYR head coach John Tortorella rumored to have been offered the head coaching position in Vancouver. Today, NY Rangers confirm that former Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault named head coach of the New York Rangers. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/story/2013/06/21/sp-nhl-john-tortorella-vancouver-canucks-coaching.html
  25. Fellow wildlife photographer and friend, John Marriott, reports from Canmore, Alberta, where overflowing creek waters are lapping up against the foundation of his house. Hope he and the many others affected by this flooding will be safe.
