  1. I believe it would work. The Navy antennas are molded on to the underside of all Hasegawa Phantom wings so just cut them off for your F-4E
  2. Sure if you had them. If not, cheaper, better detailed resin ones make more sense. Hey Jeff, how about a resin IR sensor so one could make an F-4C/D out of the ZM kit? You already make the correct Stabs...
  3. Beautiful work! Very realistic finish all the way around! I had no idea Aires made a resin cockpit for the two seat Corsair. I used Wolfpack resin seats on my A-7K. The intake looks spot on now! How did you re-shape it?
  4. Its AeroBonus that makes Navy inboards, no Air Force ones are available, other than the old, sub par True Details ones...
  5. In 1/48 scale? You sure??...off to check...
  6. Heck, I'm tempted to make an F-4C/D out of this "J" kit, like I did with the Hasegawa recessed lined "J". Not too hard, but have to assume some aftermarket for either the Hase or Academy kits would fit this Zoukei-mura kit...?
  7. Hi Jeff, how about a whole set of Phantom pylons, inboard and outboard, Navy and Air Force, to put on Hasegawa kits? The old True Details ones are hard to find and iffy quality anyway. I could even go into the need for a good available centerline pylon, and SUU-23 gun pod....
  8. Both Boeing, And the U.S Government have gotten way too comfortable!!
  9. It must be airbrushed on like Janissary said, just a reminder the windscreen wasn't actually tinted at all. The laminated glass just gave that effect under certain lighting conditions. I see this effect totally over done in modeling.
  10. Hi Jeff, aren't the Hasegawa slotted stabs the correct size? Also, are you sure the Academy ones are the right shape? I thought they looked flat on top, where as the top of the stabs should have some subtle curves from leading edge to trailing edge? I love your resin upgrades by the way...
  11. I'm not aware of any other Manufacturer's options other than Eduard? Airwaves, Lion roar, Part??? I don't think so? Also, the framing isn't even close to flush on the fuselage, although I suppose whether PE is too thick or not is up to personal taste...I wish there were more PE options, as buying a whole pe set for 20-35 bucks is ridiculous for only 4 parts. (I don't like to use pe otherwise, so a whole Eduard Exterior set is useless to me).
  12. Ok, thanks for the update. I am looking forward to owning at least 1 of these.
  13. Hmm, interesting observation. It looks like you're correct, hard to tell how misshapen it is without a kit in hand though. The scab plate/doubler on top of the vertical fin looks a little overly thick too. That comparison photo reminds me just how awful Academy's stabilators are...Looks like all kits still maintain their pros and cons...
  14. Oh nice! That pe colored instrument panel looks perfect.
  15. The issue isn't the decals. It's that that the lights themselves are mounted on raised fraiming that is pronounced enough that it should be depicted in 1 48 scale, and decals alone aren't enough.
  16. And that pe set only includes the fuselage lights, so you still have none for the tail. I recently used it on my F-4g kit and I think they look just right.
  17. Fair enough, and good luck, I'll be following!
  18. Awesome project! I love TPS phantoms. I just wish there were good quality decals for them. The furball sheet is nonexistent these days. I don't understand why you didn't use the excellent Hasegawa kit? Way less hassle and it and the Academy kit all need the same AM upgrades anyway.
  19. Ok, I meant I was using Akan's acrylic water based line, but thanks for the explanation anyway
  20. Awesome build! I like the look of your Euro 1 camo colors. How are you finding the Akan paints? What are you thinning them with. I've tried them before using UMP thinner and had a tough time with tip dry and found them just awfully tough to dial in. They seem to have just way too much surface tension and just don't want to flow nice.
  21. Thanks guys, more on the way.
