  1. From the photos my observation is that neither kit got the windshield right. Italeri's windows have 90 deg corners whereas Trumpeter got the correct round corners. I also think Trumpy's shape of the windshield is actually more similar to the real thing in the sense that from the front view you can see it actually have that bulb curve to it at the base, and not quite a straight line. The frame of the back windshield panel appears to extend to the spine of the aircraft which seems to be missing from Italeri, Neither kit seems to get the front end right. Just my 2 cents
  2. I dont quite like these AMMO paints to be honest. They are very liquid and tends to run when sprayed a wee bit too heavy. Thin coats mean free hand camo required several pass that can be sometimes beyond my skill level.
  3. Found a useful Youtube video from Japan showing the properties of the new N Line.
  4. Did a bit of experiment now and tried mixing N line with Vallejo Model Color and Model Air paint. To my surprise, these two paints actually can be mixed, but not fully. Some separation is still seen and I believe they are not completely compatible. 1) Red Vallejo Model Color was added to grey Acrysion. Although a greyish red colour was produced, the two was not completely mixed and you can see some grey underneath the red 2) Yellow Acrysion added to Blue Model Air Pretty much the same result. Although somehow the yellow still appeared at the bottom though
  5. Chris, I think the N line suits very well for those who wont be doing a lot of colour mixing and want a tough finish. They now have quite a wide range of paint for military use and I have bought almost all of them, just maybe your LHS doesnt stock them yet. Personally I have found the latest formula of Vallejo Model air suits my needs very well already and may just stick with them for now. I did a bit mixing and find out that Vallejo and the N line indeed mix, but not that well for modeling use.
  6. Hi Chris, I believe this new paint type is not compatible with Tamiya, H series or Vallejo. They certainly looked like different stuff to me. I have not tried mixing them myself but i can do a bit of experiment later on and see what comes out with that. The below caution notes is directly translated from their Japanese website: * It can be painted also on Mr. color or enamel paint. It can not be used because it causes cracking when painting on aqueous hobby color and other company's aqueous acrylic paint. ※ It can not be mixed with the aqueous hobby color or Mr. colo
  7. Chris, I wrote this up a while ago. Have a look: The N line is completely new. In short, it must be diluted with its own solvent and nothing other than that. Water is not an ideal dilutant. Cleaning can be done with water, although a thorough cleaning will require the specific cleaner or lacquer thinners. Practice a bit before you airbrush on the model first because it behaves differently than the H line. Mainly dont do a heavy coat, and instead have very very thin coats and build up layers. Some Japanese claimed to lay down 12-13 layers for their white, which is very
  8. I tend to believe it is a real laser weapon to be mounted on the MiG-35. It certainly wont be the high energy laser that was tested by US earlier on but more likely of a lower level laser that is used to blind or even kill the sensors of incoming infrared missiles. Now that can be fitted in some sensible size pods can't it?
  9. Paul, your craftsmanship and videos are both amazing and mesmerizing! However if I can afford neither the space or price of these equipment (wood cutting table, sanding table etc), is there any alternatives that you suggests that will produce similar function?
  10. Not trying to start a flame war. Although everyone is not too fond of Trumpeter, but given Kitty Hawk's track record I am afraid its just a case of lesser of two evils IMHO (how bizarre this happens all the time these days).
  11. Why I havnt heard of this toolkit before! The nozzle remover seems to be a godsend, and that needle packing screwdriver!
  12. Borrowing Flankerman's website photo for illustration purpose of pt. 2. Thanks all for answering. Eagerly awaits more variants from Zvezda!
  13. I am no expert in flankers at all , and after looking at flankerman's excellent build article I have these questions regarding the Zvezda: 1) Is the Zvezda's ejection seat sitting too high? If in scale it looks like the pilot's head will be banging against the canopy. 2) The bottom engine panels (the colour body bit before the engine area starts) seem different between the Trumpeter and the Zvezda, so who is more accurate here? 3) Comparison on accuracy of the weapons, pylons etc? I have bought kits from both manufacturers and just wanted some expert advise so
