  1. John Aero's 1/48 Avro Vulcan B.2 multimedia kit by Aeroclub.
  2. Or the old 1/48 Monogram kit, if you dare...
  3. Yes, just as delide has stated, those are the nav/anti'collision lights. As to how the best way to represent them is; I still haven't received my Kinetic SuE. Does the kit represent these lights as a separate clear part or is it solid-moulded in styrene? I can quite recall. If the latter, the best way is like someone done it in a build posted on the In-Progress section of ARC, that's hollowing out the styrene out of it and replace with some clear red and white plastic coming from a toothbrush handle. Wasn't it Basket who did do? Can't quite recall, again.
  4. Nice build, John! Glad to see you back at it. The windshield/canopy fit like a glove; I really like the way the horizontal stabs look for a change. Just awesome. My kit is on its way. Cheers, John
  5. Hi, I'm new with this brand of scribers (they look like miniature Katanas!), for polistyrene plastic. Saw a Japanese modeller use them once and I was hooked. The panel lines are a dream when done with these blades. Just received a couple of blades from HobbyLink, #0.075mm and #0.125mm, to use on my 1/48th scale aircraft kits. However, it's sort of difficult to follow the instructions, as they're printed on the back sleeve in Japanese. The only things I can make out is the "How to" sign and the drawing on the correct direction in which to use the blades while scribing, but there's a lot of da
  6. I wouldn't see the reason to advice not to buy the Dremel corded tool, because you can always buy the flexible shaft which attaches to it when you need more control of the tool. Proxxon is another brand to keep in mind if you're going to invest in a power tool.
  7. Oh? But Tony, do you mean there's no use in resorting to the Master pitot tube you linked above and replace the KH kit one? Master Su-15 Flagon Pitot Tubes So what would you say are the differences between both resin sets? No wonder...
  8. Hey, John! How are you hanging, as of late? I've been over on Britmodeller and thought I'd share Muzz's build with you, so as to see whether we can put you back on track with yours. ;) Doubtless, it's kind of a "feisty" kit to build, but I guess some kits are just like that, despite they're new tooled kits and what not. On the other hand, I was so caught up in both your and Muzz's build that I'm taking the plunge and ordering a kit for me. Here's Muzz's 1/48 Kinetic SuE build thread Click on it when you're good and ready to, mate. Hope to see you back on it soon. Cheers, John!
  9. No. But I guess it could be Tom Skerrit rebuking Tom Cruise for having followed Michael Ironside below the 10.000-feet hard-deck. How it went like...? Oh, "You took it, and broke a major rule of engagement! Then you broke another one with that circus stunt fly-by. Top Gun rules of engagement exist for your safety and for that of your team. They're not flexible, nor am I. Obey them or you're history. Is that clear...?"
  10. Says who, you...? Yeees, sure it will... Provided AMK ever make it happen, that is. :P As for now, I'm just happy there're folks like Stenka and Roy who care to devise corrections for those kits which really exist. ;)
  11. There! I wholly agree; and this statement, in view that AMK have recently decided to shelve their promised SuE project right after the Kitty Hawk one was released, I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if AMK shelved their promised Foxbat project once again right after the ICM offer is released soon. See, that's what AMK's BS means to me now. What? You don't like competition, folks? Or is it simply that you can't stand other manufacturers beat you to the punch?
  12. Well, hope it ain't a figure of Anthony Eduards nowadays singing, "Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire...!!!"
  13. That's right; certainly. And mind you, if you have a little spark up there, you can always make use of both a new tooled kit and Mr Darren Roberts' aftermarkets in order to convert a Tomcat D into an A. That's what I'm doing.
  14. Your statement above is incorrect about the speed brakes. There is a mechanical latch that keeps the speedbrakes closed as well as the actuator is hydraulically locked due to the architecture of the system. To open them on the ground a person has to operate the 'dump valve control' to release the hydraulic lock and then use a screw driver to release the mechanical lock through a small access hole in the speed brake. Ah, Janne...
  15. Hi, Janne! Thought I'd take the opportunity to ask you something related to the displaying of the speedbrakes on your build. It's widely known that the hinges of the speedbrakes on the Hasegawa kit are wrong, as, if displayed open, the doors are gonna be in the wrong angle; hence, they'd look much like barn doors. I was thinking to ask you whether you were gonna display the speedbrakes open on your build and, if so, you were gonna resort to using aftermarket corrections, as those CMK offer. Do you (or anyone else peeping at this thread), happen to know if the angle of the hinges on the CMK
  16. No need for apologies, as a question oughtn't ever bother any fellow modeller on any modelling forum. Inasmuch as your windshield/canopy enquire regarding the Hobby Boss J-11/Su-27 kit, fortunately it's not the bulbous one. What was it about the air intakes on the kit that you want to learn about, again? Didn't catch up on that. Yesterday night I was going about my J-11 example, and I found out that, at least the starboard wing tip, did have the proper washout. Somehow the port wing was completely horizontal. Dunno whether this issue were due to the way both fuselage halves are packed up and
  17. have you just not taking care to take a look a the previous posts? seems pretty clear. and for the latter, Google is your friend, and have answered the very same question for me yesterday. it's as easy to see that as the fact HobbyBoss didn't provided any pilot for the pit  Chillax, Donald... Here, Galfa: This is how the wingtip rails look like on the Hobby Boss kit (notice how the rails point up in relation to both the wingtips and radome). This is how the wingtips look like on the real thing, courtesy of Mr Ken Duffey, looking from the side (notice how the rails have a do
  18. Couldn't care less about the smallish IRST, as it's a piece of cake to fix, but say; isn't the subtle "double curve" on the LERX that aspect which Ken Duffey pointed out to us all a while back, after the Zvezda 1/72nd Flanker kit was released? Yes, I'm with dehowie on what he said; perhaps we're all laid to rest by the time another manufacturer ventures on a new release of a quarter scale Flanker kit. For now, the most bothering flaw that pisses me about the HB Flanker so far is those awful-looking wingtips pointing up like that. Can't take them!
  19. Good Lord...! Wingtips DO point awfully up; you were darn right, P. Also, and this is something I thought I noticed on my unbuilt J-11 kit. Wings seem to be a tad warped at the middle of their span. Thanks a lot, P.
  20. I went over on BM to no avail, to see whether I could find your aforementioned build thread by myself. Would you please mind pointing me in the right direction to find that build thread? Thanks, P
  21. Indeed! There's yet to be a country that operates SuEs, which planes were so gloriously famous as the Argentine ones. Perhaps this is the reason why the Kitty Hawk artist included a French roundel on the Argentinean Navy version? Oh, and you may as well forget to use that colour hue of grey on the Argentinean camouflage too... Any Argentinean fighter jock will tell you that the bird on the emblem of the 2nd Squad of the COAN is not a Jayhawk but an Eaglet.
  22. What a nice paint work, Janne! Your Sabre looks teasing to me! Sexy... Oh, so in other words we could agree that you've broken the needle tip on your airbrush just goofing around...
  23. There's not any difference with the J-11 boxing, or is there? You've even got the Chinese-built engine exhausts. Ah, the lack of a proper washout at the wing tip makes me remember of the old 1/48 Monogram F-16...
