    Hasegawa Lancaster

Hmmm..I have one coming to me and will reserve the judgement call when I get it into my hands, but one thing that really sticks in my mind is this: If the 1/72 scale Airfix is still the kit of choice, then where the heck are all the build up arcticles on it? I have checked all the main webzines on the net, and found 1 maybe 2 built up examples of the Airfix Lanc in 1/72. Tons of 1/48 Tamiya Lancs around but very little on the Airfix kit. Just my .02 worth Brad
  2. Hi there Stephen. How's the friendly skies these days!? Yup, as soon as I get it, I am clearing the bench and starting it right away. All I need is a set of the re-released Zots decals and I'll be in 1/72 scale heaven. Cheerio Brad-who very seldomly builds 1/72 scale aircraft
  3. Bob, It will be interesting indeed to see if CA re-works the mould for the Mk V, since as you alluded to, it's made of wood, which would require a different mould I would think. You are correct in that there are alot to choose from, with Canada having over 4400 of them in all marks. Cheers Brad
  4. Can you tell us what the problem is with the Hurricane please? I was planning on purchasing this one to build Collishaw's ragged wing Hurri. Thanks Brad

Here are a couple of nice, really nice actually, build-ups at LSP: http://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/W...1A/Corsair.html http://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/W...tus/Cactus.html The second one is a slight conversion to a Bird Cage Corsair. HTH Brad
  6. I used that stuff on the old VW Beatle. It worked great for removing all the chrome from the rims, bumpers etc. Cheers Brad
  7. Thanks Graham, I'll see if I can find that book and pic. Cheers Brad
  8. Gents, I enjoyed my last Hurricane project (Has 1/48 Mk I) that I wish to do a fabric winged Hurricane. Trouble is, this Hurri had a trop filter & perhaps a 3 bladed prop. The aircraft in question is Raymond Collishaw's L1669 and he was the Air Officer commanding the Egypt group. Can anyone help me out with this plane with info and/or pics? Your help is appreciated. TIA Brad
  9. I agree totally with you on this. My stash is nothing more than 20 kits. To tell your wife/partner that you need a stash or to increase your stash is simply absurd. On the other hand, for your wife/partner to give you an option that she has given is also absurd, actually this whole thread is pretty much absurd. If you can't get along together in life, then perhaps it wasn't meant to be in the first place. Cheers Brad
  10. Habu, I wonder if you would pass on to the rest of us what that skill is that you have with using Tamiya decals. Please don't leave us hanging like that Do you use very hot water, or is there a solvent that we don't know about, or perhaps you use future as a decal adhesive/solvent. I look forward to hearing about your technique. TIA Brad

    Spitfire Question

Spitfire wheel wells/gear doors and u/c should be the same colour as the undersurface camo. I have yet to see a War time photo to tell me otherwise. The inner side of flaps are British interior green. HTH Brad
  12. Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you enjoyed the show. There was a 1/32 Zero at the contest, for some reason I thought it was yours. Anyway, judging from the photos I'm sure it's won its fair share of awards. Luvverly. Hi Mike, Yes it was mine you saw at the show. I am very happy with how it ended up. Thanks for the compliments. All the Best Brad
  13. Hi Mike, Not sure you saw mine, but I sure saw your B-17G. Very interesting bomber, as I didn't know there was a Patches II. Your decals are superb by the way. It was a great show and a great display of models too. Thanks for the kind words. Brad
  14. Show off? He'd be a show off if he took shots of all the awards he won with that kit. But I bet Steve didn't have a wide angle lens to fit them all in. Thanks Hawkhornet and Gary, Gary, I think the owners of the B-17 and Hind stole the show, plus there were some very nice 1/72 scale aircraft too, and I think your 1/48 Scooter was awesome...for a jet that is ;) Cheers Brad
  15. Hi Keith, Just the National Markings (Hinomuru's) were painted. The tail codes markings, stencil and walkways were decals. Cheers and thanks Brad
  16. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Cheers Brad
  17. Hi Paul, Thanks very much. Yup I sure can; I used Red-Brown mixed with a bit of dark brown over top of AS-12. Just a couple of drops of the dark brown was all. HTH Brad
  18. Gents, My latest project completed. Tamiya 1/32 A6M5 Type 52 Zero in the markings of a Mitsubishi Type 52 from the 721st Kokutai, Japan 1945. I added the ignition wire and cylinder baffles to the engine, tweaked the carbirator with a few scratch built items. Resin seat with molded on harness, Moskit exhausts, wiring for the various control panels in the cockpit, resin wheels. I reworked the gun sight to represent the type 98 by replacing the reflector glass with clear styrene and adding a filter to the front glass section using Tamiya smoke, I also added an after bead sight and re-arranged th
  19. Hi Caz, my toothpics are plastic, I use the green floss pics as toothpics for stirring. Great stuff and cheap. Brad
  20. Caz, I have several un-opened jars of PS Flat and I can see the crap inside the bottle. I always use a new toothpic for stirring my paint. Cheers Brad

Terry, What is the difference between the E & N tails? I thought the K tail required a small fillet on it's tail? TIA Brad
