The outer panels on B7*R appear to be painted. Notice the change in gray value and reflectivity just inboard of the cochard. The stabs were never painted like the wing in regards to the putty. Camouflage is, of course, a different kettle of fish.

I would paint the yellow portions first with the can. Be sloppy if you like. When the yellow is dry (could take multiple coats to get good, opaque coverage), mask with tape the portions you want to stay yellow and then go to town with the blue paint. Be sure to rub the edge of your masking material so it's got a good seal. Oh, yeah, you might want to lightly sand the edges of the yellow before you start the blue so as to blend it and avoid obvious surface texture transitions.
