  1. I agree with Jens. There are many pictures of Vietnam D's with those antennas in place. If I am not mistaken they were APR-38 antennas, like the ones used on F-4C Wild Weasels. I seem to recall they were later removed and a fairing added: The interesting thing about your picture is that the upper antenna fairing has been removed but the lower one is still in place! Somebody will surely know more. Jorge.
  2. A friend of mine is building two kits and needs all the help he can get, cockpit shots in particular. If somebody knows of a walkaround, that would be awesome too! Any help would be most appreciated! :) Jorge.
  3. Doesn´t work from here either... Jorge.
  4. Awesome find! I have no clue. Jorge.
  5. Check this thread too. Besides the interesting read, there is a very nice picture of silver painted Thuds with one already painted in the SEA scheme in the background: http://www.network54.com/Forum/149674/thread/1271968334/NMF+F-105F+in+Viet+Nam Jorge.
  6. Many thanks for the latest links! Looks like dumb-bomb days are counted. Cheers, Jorge.
  7. To add to KursadA's excellent post, it should also be mentioned that, in a bold display of their infinite wisdom, Italeri changed the fuel tanks to represent the SHORT ones! The original Esci kit has the long tanks. Both Falcon/Squadron and Rob Taurus produce accurate vac replacement canopies. Jorge.
  8. Jari, all you have to do is register! New options show up including downloading the hi rez pic or even the complete gallery (zipped). 9. Many thanks for the replies. Very interesting. I was wondering about the EA-18G Growlers myself as somebody on CNN was talking about them while there was an EA-6B taking off from an aircraft carrier at the same time. Interesting about the F-22. Can't wait to hear what kind of missions they are employed in. I know I am a bit anxious, but I am eager to see what the aircraft involved look like and what kind of weapons they mount. There is always a lot of surprises when military aircraft are employed operationally. Best regards to all, Jorge.
  10. Does somebody know of a good place to start knowing which units and aircraft are involved in the current attacks on ISIS? I have seen the news but would like to have a more specific source that deals with the subject with greater precision. I would like to know which aircraft and squadrons are involved and where they are operating from. Pictures, both from the U.S. and coalition forces would be great to see. CNN states F-22s are being used. Is that true? If anybody knows about such a site, I would be eager to know. Many thanks in advance, Jorge. EDIT: what's the difference between ISIS an
  11. Duplicate post, sorry. But I will take the chance to say again it looks terrific! Jorge.
  12. WOW, what a fantastic finish! Great to see such a beauty. Thank your for posting. Jorge.
  13. Here's a pic with a Snakeye being dropped from the inner pylon. Caption says "A North American F-100D-75-NA Super Sabre (S/N 56-3184) in flight dropping a 227 kg (500 lb) Snake-Eye bomb on suspected Viet Cong position in 1966". Note napalm on outboard stations: And not exactly what you are asking, but here's a post war pic with four Snakeyes: Check here for some interesting loads: http://www.f-100.org/hun008.shtml It was only recently, thanks to this page, that I found out the Hun used TERs on the inner pylons during the war! HTH, Jorge.
  14. In order to purchase them, it says to contact the seller at: zawa-y@h3.dion.ne.jp The single seater is also available: http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~lonestar/SALE06.htm Note that you need Hasegawa single and two-seat kits to complete them. Please let us know if you had any success buying them. HTH, Jorge.
  15. Fantastic model John! It is very rare to see a prototype being modelled, and those "extra" insignias on the wings add a lot to its uniqueness. Incredible accuracy and workmanship. Congratulations and my best wishes, Jorge.
  16. OMG! It did indeed "exist"!!! As I built most Airfix kits since I was a kid and do still have some in the stash right now, I found myself several times looking for pictures of the actual subject they were providing markings for in their boxes. In some cases they are extremely hard to find and I have always wondered where Airfix were getting their references from. Hardly any good references way back in the sixties, yet their research has proven to be generally very accurate regarding colors and markings. Your picture is extremely interesting as it confirms the tail markings, incl
  17. Hi Doug, I also tried several times to get at least one picture of -873 in 8 FBW markings but have always came up empty handed. It would be nice if somebody could help with a pic of that specific airframe. Nice to know there is at least two of us that would be happy! Fingers crossed! Jorge.
  18. Apologies for the confusion regarding the AZ Model kit. Didn't know that. Remembered there was also a Revell kit, also produced by Revell/Lodela in Mexico, which I think was 1/50: I hope I'm not messing things up here again! Jorge.
  19. Nice project! This site shows two more, one by AZ Model and also the Classic Airframes kit: http://www.scalemates.com/products/reviews.php?scale=1:48&topic=Douglas%20A-4%20Skyhawk Link to AZ Model one: http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/FirstLook/AZ_Models/AZ_TA-4_Skyhawk/AZ_TA-4.html Good luck with your builds! Jorge.
  20. Thanks for the additional replies. Very nice pictures bigjugs. Your suggestions are very much appreciated and I will incorporate them into the builds! ;) Jorge.
  21. Found this old thread where I cleared some doubts. It has some useful pictures: http://www.network54.com/Forum/624633/thread/1290238700/1290676809/Where+do+these+decals+go+on+this+Phantom- Jorge.
  22. I think the Monogram kit is still quite good, but you would only need ONE if you decided to build it! I want to build the same model, only in 1/72, and my research shows it was a pretty standard F-4D. The Monogram kit provides the correct chin pod (with faired bulge underneath) and you should use the short nozzles. No LORAN antenna was fitted to this aircraft and it didn't have any strange bumps or lumps. All it had were slime lights. Keep the fading to a minimum as, being a Commander's mount, it was kept in good condition. Here's a pic from 1983 to check the external features. It
  23. Many thanks for the replies. Were the pilot seats green too or were they natural metal? Just to clarify, I will be doing two USAF MATS unpainted transports from the (late) '50s. Jorge.
  24. Hi Jennings, thanks for the comments. I wasn't aware of the different greens so I have learned something new. I can do with just knowing which parts to paint green and which (if any) natural metal. It would also be nice to know if the seats had just lap belts of a full set like on fighters, so to speak, so I can close the fuselages ASAP! :) Jorge.
  25. I am currently building two 1950s NMF C-47s and would like to know what colors the cockpits should be. I have seen models built with everything painted a shade of green, others silver and others in a combination of both. Wonder if somebody could help letting me know what colors the rear bulkhead, floor, sidewalls, seats and control columns and wheels should get, particularly for that timeframe, in case it is relevant. Not going overboard, so some basic information should suffice. Also, what type of seatbelts did these birds use? TIA for any replies, Jorge.
