  1. Oh, I thought you already had one. Good to know you found out before being disappointed. I have some Airfix decals fot it too, but don't think the "whites" will match. When I get around yo finishing the thing, I will probably resort to painting the missing arrow. C'est la vie! All the best, Jorge.
  2. I got that sheet and noticed the same frigging thing. The whole point of buying it was to use the VT-84 markings, only to find the third arrow is missing. Guess one of us is going to sacrifice himself and send one arrow to the other guy so as to take him out of his missery! Wanna toss a coin? Jorge. PS: on second thoughts, perhaps a caritative ARCer who has that sheet and is not going to use that option could send one arrow to each of us. How about that!
  3. The tanks being downscaled to 1/72 is the best news for me in quite some time! Now, what we sorely need after that, is a set of Martin Baker Mk.5s in the same scale. Congratulations on such great work, Jorge.
  4. Don't think you are breaking any rules flanker27. And let me quote a couple of the last replies from Kinetic:
  5. This and the previous picture are both exceptional Jari. Great finds and many thanks for posting the links. Besides the insignia on the lower fuselage side, your pictures show a light grey lip on the intake. Most pictures don't show these features so I am assuming they were added some time after the aircraft had started flying. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SECOND PICTURE IS REVERSED (the bulge on the fuselage side was on the left side only, and of course the underwing insignia should be on the right wing). Again though, great find! Here's the "corrected" pic in case someone is interested:
  6. Excellent pic, Jari. Many thanks! Jorge.
  7. Well done Kurt! I have a couple of kits that will benefit from your experience. And it looks very nice from where I am standing! Thanks for the pic and the story, Jorge.
  8. All of those sheets are fantastic. I have always been of the idea that on grey/white Phantoms the intake was just white though. A couple of questions if I may: - what color are the "USAF" and "U.S. AIR FORCE" markings in your sheet? Resolution is too low to discern. - what color are the rectangles with white dots? - which aircraft are the black lions for? - do the lightning bolts have a white edging to them? I know it will never happen, but wish they were scaled down to 1/72. Many thanks and congratulations on such great work. Jorge.
  9. Jennings, are those checkers black and white or black and red? :P I think I have seen a pic of that before, but not with such definition. Great find! Jorge.
  10. Some of the pics are really outstanding! Many thanks for sharing, Jorge.
  11. What scale are we talking about here? In any case, Esci's Phantoms in either 1/72 or 1/48 scale are a bit too wide in the cockpit area. I have used Monogram's cockpits (in both scales) to improve them and found I had to add plastic to their sides for them to reach the inner fuselage walls. And I didn't find any interference with the nose wheel well. I am a bit intrigued. I haven't tried the True Details cockpit but think there would be enough plastic/resin to sand to make it fit into that cavernous fuselage! Cannot think of a magic solution but I would keep trimming the parts unti
  12. Thanks for the pic Jari! I have seen it before but not with such high quality and resolution. Great find. Jorge.
  13. I seemed to recall there was an interesting picture in an old japanese book I had and, lo and behold, there it was! Sorry for the poor quality but the book is not scanner friendly. It definitely shows a base for the LORAN antenna: And in the same book there is also this illustration, which neatly matches what is seen in the pic: I thinks this must be an exception (?), but perhaps Academy found similar information someplace else. I am intrigued. Hope somebody can come up with an explanation. Cheers, Jorge.
  14. Hope the later variants show up soon! Jorge.
  15. Many thanks for the reply Buglord. Yes, I was kind of ashamed to mention it is the Airfix kit I am trying to finish but yes, it is the one! Unfortunately I don't even know to which unit or squadron it was delivered, so finding something about that specific airframe will require a good dose of luck. But I don't give up. Airfix must have seen a picture of it so somebody may have it too. All the best, Jorge.
  16. Hi all, I am in the process of building this aircraft but would like to confirm its configuration and look before I get to the painting stage. As much as I tried, I have been unable to find any pics of it. I would like to depict it as delivered or during its service life with the 12th Air Force in Italy during WWII. Here's the aircraft's history in case it is useful: Serial #: 44-29145 Construction #: 108-32420 Civil Registration: N9877C Model(s): B-25J TB-25N B-25N Name: None Status: Displayed Last Info: 2001 History: Manufactured by North American Aviation, Kans
  17. There is a picture on one of the early Osprey books by Dana Bell of a camouflaged F-4C on the flightline where the large star and bar can be made out under the right outer wing, while the new, smaller one, can be seen on the fuselage. The caption says it retains the original white underside, but the picture shows it very weathered IIRC. Can't remember where the book is right now, but if you are interested I could try to find it. Also, it was not until rather recently that I came across the large-format picture reproduced below. That is an oft published pic, but it was only then that I discove
  18. Many thanks for the replies guys! The model will be a british Wildcat VI and as I saw a picture of one with the tanks, I really wanted to install them. All of this has been of great help, but unfortunately I don't have access to Dana's book. Many thanks to all! Jorge.
  19. Hi all, I would need some good pictures or drawings that indicate where (and how) the fuel tanks are attached to the wings and where they are exactly located when viewed from below. There appears to be a fuel line ahead of the attachments too (?). I couldn't find anything of quality about that in spite of googling. Would appreciate your help as I am building an old kit which has gone surprisingly rather well and would like to get that detail right. TIA, Jorge.
  20. WOW man! That is just gorgeous! The finish is absolutely fantastic. Congratulations and thanks for posting, Jorge.
  21. I first of all tried a correction to the two pictures that appear to be most relevant to this thread. Hope that helps to appreciate them better. Then, I contrasted them to see if the color of the inner part of the fuselage diamond could be appreciated better. In the first picture, the leader appears to have it grey, the two aircraft on the sides appear to have them painted white, and the aircraft at the rear definitely has it painted grey. The second picture leaves no doubt as to it being white. HTH, Jorge.
  22. Here's a very nice picture of a VF-102 F-4B, although not from the exact period you need: http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Navy/McDonnell-F-4B-Phantom/1309254/L/&sid=aa5b0223b4b2b5a3535192a45af01207 And now that we are talking about tail antennas, what about THIS definitely non-standard antenna (!): IIRC the full picture was posted time ago on a Hyperscale thread by Tommy Thomason: Not sure all of this helps, but hope you find it interesting. :) Best regards, Jorge.
  23. Great kit choice! The Monogram Phantom has been reboxed many times. It would be nice if you could provide a picture of the boxing you got as there can be variations and that would lead to more specific replies. I for one, would like to see it, just out of curiosity. It appears they have included AIM-9Ls in the latest reissues, but they should not be used on an F-4C/D, at least as far as I am aware. Also, it would be wise to try to find a picture of the aircraft depicted as it would be helpful to check that the painting instructions are correct. And be careful with ModelMaster paints! II
  24. Besides all that has been said, I just like it! It's my favorite aircraft. Do I need any other reasons? :D Jorge.
  25. Amazing! Many, many thanks! Jorge.
