  1. Heres my Tamiya 1/32 F-4J built straight from the box apart from the paragon seats. It was a nice build with no real problems. I tried to make the intakes seamless , this worked but could have been better. I love the look of the Phantom in this scheme , fully loaded like this!
  2. I have the NF decals from the Tamiya kit that someone sent me. I dont need them so if you want them PM me your address and they are yours!
  3. This is the first time i have attempted the paint on a modern US navy jet. Im trying to achieve that patchy overspray look. I have had to darken the photo to show the results.. How does it look? All comments welcome. Not sure if it needs more or less added? I still need to repaint the black part by the way.
  4. Bombs are painted and attached. Amazing it managed to get off the ground with this lot on.
  5. Yup , Tamiya Tomcat. Its the Black Knights one and will be finished after this one.
  6. Heres an update. I have finished the metal heat area at the rear now and i have set a personal Deadline for it to be finished by Sunday evening. I need to add the pro modeller wash to this area now then i can crack on with the rest. And a photo next to the plane it will be sharing the bay window space with. The Black Knights F-14
  7. Thanks , at least someones watching! The wiring is done , well at least as much as i want to do. I can get on and paint this half soon. I also removed the molded on wires fron the control stick and added new ones.
  8. Heres the last of the detail work on the port side. Just the wiring to add now.
  9. I built the engine control rods from plasticard and plastic rod. The little control horns on the end were real little buggers! Ive really enjoyed it though. I have made 3 rods as my book shows them. Most of the photos i have seen online have the holes in the brackets , but the rod is missing. I have also removed the molded in linkages from the throttle box and added other details. Still lots more to add including the switches for the lamps , and the lamps! A most enjoyable project so far.
  10. I cut the discs and the cutout for the torque tubes. I didnt have the money for a Punch set so i made a hollow punch from a sharpened piece of brass tubing. I used it un top of my wife's rubberised chopping board (No she doesnt know!). Worked Good. The discs were slightly domed but flattened out easily. Im going to sand them down slightly tomorrow. Thats a job out of the way. Heres the punch i made And here are the results.
  11. Heres the underside. Need to add a few decals , whels , UC doors , 12 bombs , 1 droptank , 8 missiles , rear heat section , etc etc...........................
  12. My kit decals were OK, They did need to be soaked in hot water for a while. My F-4C/D ones did though. On my last f-4c the dissintigrated so i used Microscale decal film over them. That helped.
  13. No i didnt know that. How on earth did i miss that!!! Oh well easily fixed! Thanks for pointing that out.
  14. Heres the latest. Getting closer to the end now. All of the stencils on and a pro modeller wash added and sealed in. Im working on the UC and weapons at the moment.
  15. Thanks guys. I found both of those.
  16. Heres the basic cockpit parts. I have filled all of the ejector pin marks. They dont seem such a chore this time but that may be because im prepaired for them. I also cut the control stick to allow me to reposition it slightly.
  17. Does anyone know any good sites on the Aussie Mosquitos? Im building the Bondi Blonde from the Airfix 1/24 kit and was wondering if it was ever armed with the rockets? Any info greatly received.
  18. Well i got the first one nearly finished but ended up Swapping it with a friend of mine who is blind. We both agreed that he would never be able to get it finished so he sent me a new kit and i sent him the nearly finished one. This time i intend to add lots of extra detail. I have lots of pics from the internet , but any interior photos that anyone has of the port wall in the cockpit or the whole cockpit would be most appreciated. Hope to start the filling tonight!
  19. Got all of the big decals on.They were a bit of a pain. I had to soak them for ages on very water. They have sellted down fantastically with Johnsons Klear. Its all those tiny stencils next!
  20. Main paint is on. I need to get the decals on now. I used Tamiya white underneath and white ensign light gull grey on the top.
  21. Well either i have a good kit or Hasegawa have tweaked the cowling a bit. It all went together really well and theres not really much of a step at the bottom now , where the cowl meets the fuselage.. Thats the hardest part done now.
  22. I got the upper wings on. The only problem was on the port fuselage to wing joint where there was a small gap. This was easily filled with Vallejo putty. The tail was aproached differently this time. Usually i get a bit of a bad fit with the tip of the tail fin. This time i fitted each tip half to their respective fin parts first and then joined the fin halves. Much better. As most of you know , the outer wing panels are fitted at the wrong angle if you build as per the instructions. Luckily i took a head on photo of the F-4J at Duxford. I copied the angle to the model , and fitted the outer
