  1. Hey! Since when does Steve Filak have a spy cam in my workroom? Actually, it's the Newk York Departure Terminal, but, that's too close to be a coincidence! :D Alvis 3.1
  2. I once felt squooshi on landing, but it turns out it was the in flight meal...should have had the chicken! Alvis 3.1
  3. Passenger seats are the passenger seats from an ESCI 1/72 F-27 Friendship. The peelot seats are bang seats from the spare bin. The landing gear is just aluminium tubing covered with foil, and the footpad is tube styrene fitted over the struts. I even put springs in the struts for a squooshy effect. I wanted to do a Space 1999 Eagle type footpads, but couldn't rationalise how they'd fold up into the gear bays. Alvis 3.1
  4. In flight... Made from a Roche Egg ( chockie filled container that's egg shaped) I masked off the windows, hatches and panel lines, sprayed on several coats of flat white, then removed the masking on the panels and hatches. I then sprayed several more layers of paint, then removed the window masks. This gave a depth to the panel lines and hatch recesses. The bubble windows are from craft store "google" eyes, with the back and pupil removed. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g102/Alvis3_1/Image008.jpg Top view: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g102/Alvis3_1/Image002.jpg Side View: http:/
  5. Hmm...good idea! That's actually what I used to make this one, the ERTL TIE Interceptor! I almost went that route, but I'm a lazy modeler and this version was quicker! Drat, secrets revealed! Alvis 3.1
  6. Inspired by the Egg Death Star available in resin on the StarShip Modelers site...the TIE-GG!! Alvis 3.1
  7. Wow...do I WANT to know what lead you to make the connection? Lol Alvis 3.1
  8. Ah. of course, I plum forgot..the old "ionized Plasma vapour cannon" issue! An observation: The Vipers have three engines, yet one crewman, and the Raiders have two engines and three crew. The Cylons were obviously running a pretty basic attack profile..they used the same attack vectors constantly (A serious sign of low number crunching capacity) This, of course, allowed the Colonials to use the same defensive vectors as well. That's why we always saw the same shots over and over. The odd thing I find about a lot of the complaints about the NBSG is the "sexual" content, and so far, not a
  9. It comes down to the side to side scanner eyes. The slow scan rate precludes a Cylon from actually looking at an object in motion correctly. By the time a second scan occurs, the object has moved (usually) and thus the Cylon misses it. How else do you explain their terrible marksmanship? By putting 3 in a cockpit, they would be linked into a more efficient scanning system and actually be able to hit something, as well as fly and land with less crashes! Another weird Original Series BSG question: Why did the guns on Galactica take 3 shots to hit the cylon ships flying past? They are light beam
  10. Is that anything like a T. rex? Seriously: That is one majorly impressive Tripod model! Alas, my wallet has not been THAT thick to absorb the huge hit. But...wow. Alvis 3.1
  11. a BUNCH! WOO HOO! A 1/20 scale Visible Van, complete with reel to reel tape player! Can yoy say 70s flashback? A 1/32 2001 Astronaut as seen near the Antenna Array A couple Konami UFO series vehicles AND: Ta-da! A 1/48 CSM Apollo, prebuilt, and requiring much fixicationing! Yes! Alvis 3.1
  12. A 1/144 scale Avro Jetliner....WOOOOO HOOO!!!! It took only SIX days to come from France to the West Coast of Canada...impressive I MUST say, considering it didn't go by ultra fast super dooper express or anything! Alvis 3.1
  13. A Revell Apollo Astronaut, the 1995 re-issue! Most satisfying! Alvis 3.1
  14. A 1/100 scale Heller Apollo CSM! Woo hoo! I now have 8 of them! I think I need to stop! Alvis 3.1
  15. Well, until the USAF comes out with a manned space fighter, I can't see the subject being all that "sexy". Then again, I never thought anyone would want to build models of large robotic fighting siuts, and the Gundam stuff is sure popular! Alvis 3.1
  16. Nah..I thought the original was cheesy THEN! It had an interesting premise and fell apart rapidly, and the less said about the 1980 version the better!!! I also thought redoing a bad 70s show was a phenominally BAD idea. I now think it's a very good show. No, it's not perfect, and in 25 years, yes, I'm sure it too will look dated (The CGI cylons really bug me, not that I liked the originals personally!) One of the things I find odd and a little bit amusing is that people get seriously bent out of shape at the sexuality shown in the series, but nobody seems all that upset at the violence. I'
  17. As an original series Trekkie, I have to agree whole heartedly! Nice to see a series whose creator can actually write GOOD episodes, not just "polish" the work of others and claim it as his own. Interesting characters and jaw dropping developments "I'm John's wife" "The only man to have defeated a Minbari cruiser is behind me...you are in front of me!" and a host of excellent lines...DS9 had a few episodes where my mind had to actually work a bit, but B5 ALWAYS made my mind work, sometimes rather hard at times (especially when the local station broadcast an entire season in reverse order...YOU
  18. Ah ty...I did all that before but the new puter had the pop up blocked...got it now (and of course some "skanky chicks wanna meet ya" type pop up too...never good to have THOSE on the screen when significant others are watching over yer now VERY sore shoulder.... Alvis 3.1
  19. Ummm...is this link actually supposed to take me to something? I get the MegaUpload website...and no sign of much else... Alvis 3.1
  20. Well, I think the reason a decal sheet would be produced for non-what if modelers to do a what-if model is the interest shown recently in the whole what-if sub genre. Since it appears to be a growing segment of the hobby, and some modellers don't have the reources or time or whatever to scrounge up alternate markings for the TSR-2, I would take it that a decal sheet designed for quick easy access to alternate markings would be a good seller, especially on a kit that has been requested for some time. Apparently, it has been a good seller..and yes...I have yet to buy one...of course..I may not
  21. Well, having aquired a massive stash of decals over the years, I can say...You can NEVER have enough decals! How is a sheet with so many variations and nations used be a waste? Yes, I've cludged together MANY what-If decal schemes from spare bits, and may never use the decal sheets as they exactly are shown, but if a modeller decides to buy it, and helps a modelling company make a lil bit more money, which could be used to finance further projects that may help him out down the road, I fail to see "the waste". However, at times, I DO see the whole hobby as a waste of time.... and mone
