  1. RIP. A Terrible loss for his family and friends. Al P.
  2. "Canadian government sends in Attack Beavers" just doesn't sound right! Viking Air has the licence to build them, so we could make out own military aircraft again! Huzzah! Alvis 3.1
  3. Yeah, that didn't like TOTALLY give me any ideas for a diorama.... Alvis 3.1
  4. I think that classic "Coca Cola" Santa really would be cool in a Waco biplane, but then I'd be accused of favoritism towards one of the Zipper Suited Sun Gods... On the "Good news" front I've run out of "Tweets" so there's zero chance of a A-37 SantaTweet this year. Alvis 3.1 (What happened to my huge negative post count? Waa!)
  5. That would make intercepting intruding Russian bombers a bit problematic, but on the plus end, it might make a really funny What-If model, packing a couple Sidewinders and a Red Star kill marking. Alvis 3.1
  6. So, having an actual chance of building something in the next few weeks, once again my mind wanders towards the concept of NPAF* aircraft. What do you think would make an appropriate aircraft for Santa to fly? I've done Bombardier RJs, B-52s, zeppelins in the past, but I'm open to suggestions.** Alvis 3.1 *North Pole Air Force ** Suggestions are not binding. I may do something not suggested.

  9. Dungeons and Dragons game in my friend's parents basement, May, 1982. I think she failed a saving throw. And she still has not killed me. Alvis 3.1
  10. So, speaking of slight over-reactions, let's let this rest where it is before anyone else gets too het up under the collar, ok? I give the thread a solid 6/10 score, with points deducted for image heavy posts, slight personal slights, and wikipedia links. Gifs of Tony Stark rolling his eyes would have pretty much completed the mandatory requirements. Al P. ARC Moderation Team Mean Guy Who Ruins Your Fun
  11. I work in a hobby shop, and that sort of thing really doesn't surprise me at all. As for "kids" having lack of honour, I tend to find the adults set bad examples and show incredible self interest over what is right a lot more than kids do. But then, maybe I'm getting more jaded. Alvis 3.1
  12. Something that has had me puzzled the last day or so is what will the designated CF number for the Super Hornets be? CF-188701 to 188798 was allocated for the F-18As, and CF-188901 to 188940 were used for the F-18Bs. This frees up CF-1888XX series. Would the aircraft be designated as CF-188E/Fs, or is there a possibility they may go to CF-189? All this is assuming I have the correct info on serial number ranges currently in use or available. 13. What are these "tanks" under the wings of the CF-100s seen here? I believe this is unique to the EW version, but I may be wrong. Do they resemble anything available as a stores shape in 1/72? Alvis 3.1
  14. Used the new Polar Lights resin kit of "Executive Officer Kane" from "Aliens" :) Alvis 3.1
  15. Depends on which side is facing the audience when making knife edge passes! Alvis 3.1
  16. That's always an option, although due to budgetary reasons, they'd have to go with: Blue Angels flying left to right, Thunderbirds flying right to left. One big happy squadron! :)/> Alvis 3.1
  17. Mustangs. I used to think it was boring, then got drawn into a group build at the local IPMS chapter, and wound up doing 6. I found it to be an interesting, attractive aircraft with an amazing number of schemes. Alvis 3.1
  18. Banks don't actually check cheques. They "clear" them merely by your own credit rating, so if you're good for the amount they are looking at on a cheque, then they let the transaction proceed. Eventually, when the cheque is proven to be fake, they remove that amount from your account. I had a fake cashier's cheque pass through a store I worked at. It was fairly well done, complete with what appeared to be a seal from the issuing bank, but it was a complete forgery. Trouble is, no two banks use the same type of seal, so the bank it was deposited at didn't realise the seal was wrong until they
  19. I gave a handful away one Christmas to my nearest relatives. We're all trillionaires now! Alvis 3.1
  20. I have no idea where he got that name from. He had written a whole backstory behind a series of car models he did (or possibly vice-versa) about a fictional place called "Antelope County" using that name as the author. I'm going to see if his family have access to the stories, I'd like to read his tales from that place. I'd leave Charlie Crawford on the articles, it's who he wanted to get credit for them. Al P
  21. I met him years after he influenced me in likely the greatest way anyone ever did in my life. He even wrote about it, albeit under a pseudonym. This one simple model he made changed how I viewed my hobby. I had become disenchanted with scale modelling, unable to live up to the standards I was seeing others achieve. I was 13, and had been doing models since I was 6, but with very limited tools and no mentoring at all. Then I went to the PNE and saw the IPMS Vancouver stand. The vast array of exquisitely made models almost completely caused me to throw in the towel...and then I saw this. In on
  22. A Merry Christmas to Holmes, and to all ARCers! Alvis 3.1
  23. No, but they DID get involved due to radical Islam. Their guy in Kabul was cracking down wayyyyy too hard on what he considered radicalised Muslims in Afghanistan, and the Russians were concerned he was going too far. He was smart enough to refuse their invite to Moscow, so their option was to invade and take things over and smooth over the situation. (They were concerned any inflamation of tensions with Islam would boil over into their other southern Republics) Yeah, that didn't work out so well, and it just escalated from that. It was taken as a grab to gain access to a warm water port (eve
