  1. I think the instructions sheets are copyrighted, unfortunately, but dont hold me to that. I also keep old instruction sheets as well as old decal sheets. If someone could setup a section for this I would be willing to post the instruction sheets I have. After all no manufacturer is perfect (quiet all you Tamiya fans at the back :D ) I purchased an Airfix Red Arrows Hawk in 1/48 from Fairford last year but on opening it found it was the later type hawk, NOT the Red Arrows type. Lesson: ALWAYS check the item in the box if possible. Cheers Nige
  2. Thanks for the offer, but my other half came home yesterday with the Ertl 1:72 Thunderbirds kit and the Italeri 1:12 F16 cockpit kit so I should be okay. All the best Nige
  3. Hi all, can anyone help me out with a copy of the instructions for Academy Kit No 1695 the F-16C as flown by the Thunderbirds. I purchased one a while back and now I have opened the box and the instructions are missing . Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Nige B.A. (Hons)
  4. I think I might turn it into my idea of a modern version of the RAF 92 Squadron Blue Diamonds, using the Hawk instead of the Hunter. Cheers Nige :D
  5. I recently purchased a 1/48 Airfix Red Arrows Hawk (Airfix kit no 05111). Unfortunately inside is a Hawk 200 (Which does not match the instructions or decals as its a different aircraft). Has anyone else come across this problem and any recommendations on what to go for instead of the decals/paint scheme in the instructions. Cheers Nige
  6. Hi all I have recently purchased a 1/48 Aires cockpit detail set for my Sukhoi SU-27 (based on the old single seat Russian Knights set). It looks great, only trouble is there are no painting instructions in the Aires detail kit. As the ones with the kit are not much good, I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the instruction leaflet with the colors included (1/32 or 1/72 will also help) and could possibly post it or message me privately? Thanks in advance. Nige West Midlands England.
  7. I did the SU-47 Berkut (meaning Golden Eagle) in 1/144 and it looks nice. Its on my to do list in 1/72, the Zvezda Models one that is. I just wish someone (E.G. Tamiya, oops forgot they dont seem to like making Russian aircraft much) did a 1/48 version . It has to be one of the best looking aircraft ever . You could try the 'Russian Knights' Flanker in 1/48 by MiniHobbyModels, its biggest fault is the cockpit its awful. In 1/72 there is the Revell Flanker which I am building at the moment, not too bad a kit. Cheers Nige
  8. Definately I cant wait to see the T-Birds and the IAF Sukhois, hopefully get a few autographs as well. As for the Vulcan fingers crossed I think if it does make it it will impress those who never saw it fly before, its certainly one on its own. Cheers Nige
  9. Thanks for all the above tips and advice. I am aiming to go for the other teams mentioned in the future but for starters I am sticking with the ones I listed. The Russian Knights got me started on the idea of concentrating on display teams with their glorious flare displays. I have a 1/48 MiniHobbyModels Russian Knights Sukhoi (based on the Academy kit I think) to start on first. Loved the pictures of the T-Birds, especially the last one. I also Picked up Revell's 1/72 single seat Typhoon kit today and I must say it looks like a very nice piece of work, especially after just finishing an o
  10. Hi all, I am shortly going to start a small collection of 1/48 scale display team kits. Specifically; The Red Arrows (Hawk). The Swifts (MIG-29). The Thunderbirds (F16). The Blue Angels (F18). The RAF Typhoon. Has anyone any advice on which kits to go for on these? So far it seems to be The Red Arrows Airfix. The Swifts unknown. The Thunderbirds Hasegawa. I love the F-16C Tamiya kit in 1/32 but the price is a bit too high The Blue Angels Hasegawa or Monogram. The RAF Typhoon Revell or Italeri, although some people seem to rate the Revell kit higher. I am also considering design
  11. Thanks for the welcome. Re topic of one plane v another comments taken on board, its like which is better the 109 or the Spit a never ending debate each plane having its merits and faults. I was actually thinking more in terms of the gorgeous 'Berkut' Sukhoi seem to come up with new variations on the basic SU-27 design all the time so who knows what they will come up with next? But it will have to be unreal to beat the 'Berkut' on style grounds. All the best Nige
  12. Hi all, I managed to locate a MiniHobbyModels Russian Knights 1/48 SU-27 (Kit no 80304). Can anyone advise if the Eduard 'BigEd' set or just the Eduard interior kit will fit? As the original cockpit is the worst I have seen in this scale recently. Some adjustments I expect as Eduard recommend them for the Academy kits, not MiniHobbyModels, although but I have heard a rumour MiniHobbyModels based their kit on the Academy one. Any help appreciated. Nige Wishing that this years RIAT at Fairford included a flying display by either/and the MIG-29/SU-27
  13. Great pics again guys. I am attending the RIAT air display at Fairford England in July, my main regret is although the USAF Thunderbirds wil be there. Apart from a static display of 2 SU-27s from the Indian Airforce there wont be any of the amazing M.I.G. or Sukhois doing flying displays to take your breath away. Finally when are we going to see this mock dogfight between the F22 and the Flanker, Sukhoi have challenged the USAF to? Surely the U.S.A. with its Raptor can overcome the Russians? Or maybe not and they are worried Sukhoi could prove a match for the Raptor? One final thing the
  14. Thanks for the advice both. I had noticed the paint does fade badly on Russian asircraft in comparison to some others. But I am going with your suggestions and a copy of the testors page. Cheers Nige
  15. Can anyone recommend alternatives for the camoflage scheme on Revells SU27 kit? I am doing either Option 1. an SU27B (14) at Kilp Yavr AFB 1st Squadron 941 IAP-PVO Spring 2000 or Option 2. an SU27B (16) same details but Autumn 1999. Fr the underneath they recommend 50% matt light grey 76 + 50% matt light green 55. Above its mainly 75% Patine Green Silky Matt 365 + 25% White matt 5 with 75% light green matt 55 + 20% white matt 5 +5% blue matt 56. Revells colours just dont seem right somehow. Hopefully someone can recommend Tamiya or Humbrol equivalents, as I have these in abundance
