I am traveling to Indiana this week to work a project for 3 weeks. I know of a hobby shop there that stocks the Hobby Boss Easy Builder kits. They have the Bf-109 G-10, and I plan to get one to work on while I'm out there. I plan to build it as one of the special escort 109 shown in Squadron's Bf-109 In Action Pt 2 with the all RML 76 scheme. I like that scheme not only because it is different, but also it saves money on buying paints out there as I cannot take paints on the plane over. The plane, however, had the normal wheels instead of the wide. Has anyone built the 109 G-10 kit yet?

Like I mentioned one time before, you are not a part of the group build...you are the group build! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your works.

Here is my list for potential candidates: 1/48 RoG Bf-109K-4 done up as Black 265 1/48 Fujimi Bf-109- possibly done as a G-6 1/72 Hasegawa E-3 I plan to use the extra parts to make an E-4 Trop. from JG27 in that North African Scheme. 1/72 Airfix Bf-109G-6 being cleaned up and backdated to an earlier variant. This has been started, but nothing painted or glued together. A few other 1/72 kits from Hasegawa, ICM, Academy, and possibly Hobby Boss.

If you travel a little farther out, there is Bandit's Hobbies in Darlington. They are big in trains and car kits, but good in planes as well.

Model Shops in Prince Georges County MD
stevearado replied to fire fighter's topic in Hobby Shop Directory
Dougs in St Mary's County is my regular hobby shop. They closed down the store in Waldorf and moved everything there. There is also GPA Hobbies on Rt 3 in Croften (of Bowie). Their selection is pretty good. -
Both Mark Twain and CRM are excellent shops. I found out about Mark Twain from a friend and coworker who works many projects with Boeing in St. Louis. The couple of time I went out there to work on projects, I visited it many times and my stash grew because of it. The last time I was in St. Louis (summer 2006), I saw the flyers for the IPMS Gateway meeting and I attended. There, I met Chris with CRM, and he is a great guy. I visited CRM just after they moved, so it was a little disorganized. However, I never saw so many kits (old and new) in my life. The selection of aftermarket i

Could one of the Moderators pin this thread to the top of the page? I myself have quite a few Japanese plane to build, and this could be valuable. Thanks

1/72 RoG Lavochkin La-5FN
stevearado replied to stevearado's topic in Wings of the Red Star Group Build
You're right. I got over enthusiastic and looked over that detail. The version I was planning on doing flew in 1944 so it would not qualify. I'll be back with something else. -

I came across this kit at my LHS back in July. A few days ago, I came across this group build and decided to use this kit. It consists of 2 sprues with raised panel lines which I will engrave. So far, I have been cutting and cleaning up the parts. Other than gluing the wheel halves together, not much more progress so far.

Group Build entries here!
stevearado replied to Kalashnikov-47's topic in Wings of the Red Star Group Build
I'll give this group build a try with a RoG La-5FN. -
I picked this kit up last summer when I was in St. Louis. It sat in my stash since then waiting for the GB. To keep with the GB, it will be built out of box with the kit decals. I'll only add tape seatbelts.

I think I'll jump this one with a 1/72 Bearcat. -
My two kits arrived as well. Thanks Hal!

Progress; The main assembly is together less the canopy. I used the DF loop from the Eduard set. The supercharger intake was a solid piece, so I drilled and hollowed it out. All I need to do now is clean/Future dip/mask the canopy, and it will be ready for paint.

A little update: I got the fuselage closed up and the panel line along the seams cleaned up. even though the fuselage halves were lined up, there was a step at the nose. I used a piece of plastic card to fill that step. I am now in the process of completing the rest of the main assembly.

Hello, I finnished up with entrys for the Airfix/Heller GB so I decided to try to get a 109 in before the end of this GB. I will be doing a Revell of Germany Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-10 with Eduard photo-etch. Also, I will be using aftermarket decals from Eagle Strike. The plane will be Franz Wienhusen's white 21 of IV/JG 4 in Germany, 1944. I started on it already, but have not finnished the cockpit yet. I have submitted it already to one of the GB Mods.

Thanks for the prize donations guys. Hal, you got a PM.

Here's one. I completed my Heller (Airfix-boxed) Hawker Tempest Mk V. I rescribbed the panel lines, and replaced the outboard guns with hypodermic tubeing. I also used thin guitar string for the antenna mast. Other than that, it's built OOB with kit decals. This is my second completed build of 2007.

Here she be! This kit seemed to go together pretty well. I did have some problems in building and mounting the landing gear parts due to the instructions being unclear. I figured it out, though. I replaced the outboard guns in the wings with metal tubeing. I also used a length of thin guitar string for the antenna. I will post more in the completed builds thread. Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys. After looking at them closer, they are not that bad. This is the last picture I'll post before it's done. I got all the dacals on, details washed, and the first coat of Dullcote on. I still need to paint the insides on the gear well doors and prop anong with some weathering.

I spent parts of the last few days putting on some color. It looks kind of ugly with only the gear wells, tail band, and wing stripes painted. However, it will change. Here it is with all the camo applied. It looks a lot better now: Tonight, I got the Future sprayed on. I'll try to put on the decals tomorrow. I'm afraid that when I scribbed the panel lines, I did them too deep. Not much I can do there at this point, though.

This is the 1/72 Airfix Hawker Hurricane done in the Mk 1 version. I added some detail in the cockpit, and filled in the void in the gear wells. It has the kit decals for the 303 squadron.
