Thanks Mike. A quick update: I got the mail assembly together and finnishing up the panel lines. I won't be back at my place until later Sunday so there will be no further progress until then. I'll post a picture then as well.

Here is the progress from the last two nights. The cockpit was already in place, but I added the radiator last night. I also closed up the fuselage. Tonight, I got the wings and tail planes attached. I also found out that this is actually a Heller kit packaged in an Airfix box. I still need to clean up the panel lines before getting some primer on. Tonight:

I don't think I'll be able to work on the other two entrys before the end on the month. However, I have a started 1/72 Airfix Hawker Tempest MK V that I can start working on again.

I thought that I'll try to get one more build done in this last month. I got this Tempest Mk V a couple of years ago, and barely started it last year. It's the special edition kit of Evan Dall Mackie's bird. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks guys.

I got her finnished up in time for club meeting last night. The decals were kind of stiff at first, but layed down with Solvaset. Weathering was done with pastel powder, and the antenna wire in Invisible thread. Thanks for looking.

I got the fuselage closed up, and the main assembly taken care of. It's currently in the paint shop with the sky colored belly painted. Here is a picture of the Hurricane prior to the paint shop:

Thanks mike. I'm still trying to get use to Image Shack. it keeps showing the pictures that small no mater how I set the size. I'll get it straightened out. Update: got it fixed

I got some detail in the cockpit in the form of styrene rod and strips. Here is a picture of the progress: Tomorrow, I'll have it painted and closed up. Thanks for looking.

This is my first entry in this GB. This kit comes with the option for the Mk1 or the Mk2B version. I will be doing the Mk1 version for the 303 squadron in 1940. I have the plane's panel lines scribbed, and I began adding some detail to the cockpit. Here's the box: I apologize for not getting a sprue shot.

If it's not too late, I like to jump in with an 1/72 Airfix Hawker Hurricane MK1 / 2. If time allows, I also have a Heller Saab J-21 and an Airfix SA-330 Puma as potentials.

I believe that MM European Dark Green could be a close substitute. They look somewhat similar.

I got my Hamilton Standard Prop decals from Archer Fine Transfers today. They look great!

Thanks George. I am using invisible thread with the upper wing attached. I got part of one wing in place. It's not the best in the world, but it can be touched up. It's quite a learning experience.

I've started on the wing rigging on an Eduard Pfalz D.III. The tail cables were ok, but the wing lines are driving me crazy. I would put a dab of CA into one hole and let it dry. However, when I tried to attach the other end, the line comes undone or pulls out the other end. :( This is my first time rigging biplanes (I normally do WW2 to modern jets), and would like to know how those who biplane regulars do it. TIA.

That one looks great too. I looked at on of my resources and found another one. It has the 2 tone green, so yellow 5 probably did as well.
-
Oh man! That yellow 5 is awsome! I have an Italeri F-2/4 that started screaming to be painted up such when In saw this thread. Could I have some more information on the color scheme (RML colors) and camo pattern for the wings? I appreciate it.

Sorry about that, it's 1/48.

I was out at the LHS the other day and found that Academy is also offering a birdcage Corsair. It became the newest addition to my goal of having a collection of all the Corsair types. It doesn't look bad. It even seems to have the full 360 degree engine tabs. It includes a separate small sprue with paddle prop, smooth tires, Brewster bomb rack, bomb, and drop tank. The decals are for VMF-222 in Bougainville, and Walsh's ride, VMF-214 in the Solomon Islands. I thought about finding decals to make it one of the first VF-17 Corsairs, but it's still in the air for now. Has anyone else seen

Revell of Germany makes a G-10. It has the large wing bulges separate, and comes with the short tail wheel. Heller makes a G-14 also, but it would need work (raised panel lines).

While stydying pictures of WW2 aircraft, I've noticed different varieties of National Markings in Italian aircraft. I know that initially as one of the Axis powers, their markings was the circle with the 3 shapes in the middle (I'm not sure what they are called). After the armistace, that is where I'm not sure. From there, I've seen the square with the 3 shapes and the regular Italian roundel. I though the square marking aitcraft stuck with the Germans, but according to some picture captions, aircraft with the roundels stuck with the Germans as well. I usually model American, Japanese, Br

I wonder if any of the decal companies makes individual decal sheets for the Hamilton standard Propeller decals. Many of the American prop-driven planes I've built left these decals out except for the 1/72 Academy Hellcat. TIA.

Steve Workman (Stevearado) here I was out at Mark Twain Hobbies today and picked up one of the Academy F4U-4B Corsairs. I plan to find a resin cockpit and already have a sheet of Superscale decals for a VMF-323 F4U-4 that flew off the USS Sicily at Inchon. The good thing about it: I can use the kit decals for another Academy 4B I built 12 yeasr ago and plan to rebuild.

I picked up a newer release HC Beaver last year, and it had both floats and wheels. I plan on using the wheels as I plan to build one of aircraft from USN Test Pilot School. My kit has the solid fuselauge halves, and the instructions say paint the glass areas black. However, it still tells you to paint and install the interior.

Received my Stranny today. Thanks Hal!
