  1. Hello folks, Would anyone know of a picture that shows a Lynx intake without the usual intake screen? A HMA.8 would be great, but I don't think they changed much if at all over the various types (although I have pics of a SA bird that has a totally different one) Thanks and best regards, Maarten
  2. Hello again Pappy, Could I bother you with a quick question? I'm finally getting to the sponsons, and you mentioned you reshaped those items at the back. If you don't mind my asking, what exactly did you mean by that? Did you just thin down the trailing edge to more closely confirm to the part that connects it to the fuselage, or were there shape changes needed in plan view, so to speak? Many thanks for your reply, best regards, Maarten
  3. Ian and Bob, Thanks yet again for your input regarding the APU exhaust - exactly because of that rather obvious "plume" coming out of it I thought I would have to do a little more about that area as the eye would be drawn towards it. Ian - my compliments on your build and article! Very nicely done model indeed, and a helpful list of corrections/additions to boot. Best regards, Maarten
  4. Bob and Ian, My thanks for chipping in on the subject! Did a little searching through my Internet history and here is that glory shot: http://www.articlesextra.com/main-fotos/eu...r-typhoon-2.jpg - a bit small but it seems the fins at least are already converted to something similar as on the production version, which makes it rather difficult to trace it's heritage.. On another note - could I pick your brains on the APU exhaust? The 72nd scale kit has a poorly defined opening (although that's due purely to molding limitations I suspect) and the only close up pictures of the area tend to be
  5. Bob, Thanks for your reply! Goes to show I should do a bit more research before hacking things up left and right! The one picture I've found without integrated pylons shows a "glory shot" with all the external stores laid out in front, and that one had separate tanks. Must have been the prototypes! The single units approach makes a hell of a lot of sense too - I suppose it must be a bit more expensive when actually dropped, but it's a wonder you don't see it far more often. Best regards, Maarten
  6. Hello folks, As it seems most of the Eurofighter buffs gather at this thread, this would to be the place to ask Would anyone happen to have (or know where to find) a shot or two of exactly what the external fuel tank pylon joint to the tank itself looks? I've found photos that indicate they are indeed separate units, but usually they remain permanently attached to each other. As I was a little too quick to separate both on my 72nd scale kit, I now have to put them back together, and while I can find some shots that show just a little gap both in front and at the back end, nothing is close
  7. Folks, Back again with another few questions about a possible production version out of the Italeri 1/72 and 1/48 scale kits, this time about the two rotating sensor turrets up front. The kit provides the bottom turret molded in with a single piece of "window" to put something behind, and either a panel line or a division between parts slightly higher up. The top turret is provided as a separate part. The prototypes of course had no operating turrets, so I'm looking for your opinions/best guesses here! This picture: http://www.scalerchelis.com/g2/main.php/d/...-2/100_1164.jpg seems to show
  8. Mark, Don't know about the twin seater as I don't have that one, but I didn't read anything on the modeling boards about these issues either. If the Eurofighter is your thing though, don't discount it just yet - most of these things are fairly easy to repair or replace, it will just take more work than RoG's latest. It certainly does have a number of things going for it, with a very nicely detailed little cockpit, decent wheel wells & wheels and a b#ttload of weaponry Akula's link shows it all very nicely, and the decal sheet is very comprehensive. Had that been an aftermarket sheet i
  9. I suppose you're right Mario - for that money I shouldn't complain too much. It was more surprise than complaint on my side because RoG has been spoiling us lately Best regards, Maarten
  10. Thanks Mickey! Oh well - a bit more work then. All in all, the kit is worth the extra trouble I think. As far as the canopy goes - mine indeed has vertical marks on the right side also, does look like something from the mould instead of simple scratching. And the Storm Shadows fins don't reach the other end of the sprue either, but looking at pics of the beast they don't seem excessively shorter than the real thing. What are the worst spots on your kits guys? Sofar I found plastic goobers in the airbrake well and on the Taurus missile fins, and the bottom fuselage around the intake has a ver
  11. Thanks for the tip Thor - my canopy and windshield are not too bad (not exactly great either unfortunately, they're a bit wavy too) but the windshield is scratched even while it has been separately bagged  Mark - I believe the kit was originally from 2004, and all things considered the basic mold is very cool - lots of weapons and marking options, and the details themselves are very nicely done. Somehow either the mold is already wearing out, or it was dirty maybe. Having no idea how the process goes, maybe my kit was one of the last of a production run and quality control let it sli
  12. Hello gents, Just picked up this 2007 (re) release and I have to say I'm a little disappointed with it. I just took out the fuselage halves and a few sundry parts to fondle and I noticed a LOT of surface imperfections.. The general surface on the fuselage is a bit "wavy" here and there, lots of flash everywhere, a bunch of sink marks and several detail bits have extra plastic right in between the details obscuring/obliterating them or compromising fit, much like early MPM short run kits used to have. Hence the question, did anyone else have these problems? Still looks like a nice kit with
  13. Pappy, this really is a very, very nice build! Love the work you've done sofar and I'm saving it all as reference for my own build. A few tips you might or might not want to incorporate: The "eyebrow" windows in the kit are sort of trapezoidal shaped in the kit - the inner line along the fairing should be straight towards the back of the chopper (hope I'm making sense here! If not, I can always find you a link with pictures that shows it) Also, the fairing itself should extend a bit more towards the nose. There's also a few rails on the top fuselage that the front part of the doghouse can
  14. Great pictures Jon, many thanks for posting these! I hope you don't mind my asking, but do you have any more detail shots you'd be able and willing to share? Especially the wheel wells, weapons bay and cockpit side consoles (anything interesting for that matter) would be most welcome. I know, not asking for much am I? I did notice on this site: http://www.scalerchelis.com/phpBB2/viewtop...6305852b18ce8ce that the weapons bay seemed to be filled mostly with test equipment - at least, it did not seem to be able to hold say three Hellfires in the space left over! The cockpit side consoles ha
