  1. I gotta check the rivets on the wings of my P-51, but if it didn't have rivets, I'm sure someone would complain that he/she wanted to build it fresh from the factory (or being built), with no paint on, no polishing or whatever and that they needed the rivets and Tamiya sucks. madcow
  2. Thanks, Jennings. According to Tamiya decals, option A, Blondie, was a P-51D-25 NA s/n 44-73304. Option B, Glengary Guy, was a P-51D-10 NA s/n 44-14151, so the closest is option B, which uses the N-9 optical gunsight, not the K-14 gyro gunsight (that's option A). Ricardo
  3. Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any post about it. I want to build my Tamiya's 1/32nd P-51D as Duchess Arlene. Which of the versions, A or B should I go for? Also, is there any rule of thumb as for what A, B and C on the kit represent? Thanks in advance, Ricardo
  4. Okay, okay, I know... this has been asked before, but I just want to know this: How "wrong" is using Gunze's H58 (interior green) or H80 (don't remember the name) on the new Tamiya 1/32 P-51 (I got it today, yay)? I used H58 on my 1/48 P-51D and it doesn't look that bad (maybe a little bit dark), but after spending so much money on Tamiya's kit, I want to make sure I get it as closer to the original as possible. Is there any other option that won't force me to mix paints? TIA, Ricardo
  5. Hi Pedro, check janman's build on the In-Progress Pics section. He has nice photos of the modifications he made to the kit's landing gear. HTH, Ricardo
  6. I'd go with madmike said. It's better to divide into eras than subject. Many people have been saying the same for the aircraft forums and it applies here as well. It's more likely to see someone reply to your question about a Me262 on the "props" forum than on the "jets" forum. mad "trying to get back into the hobby" cow
  7. What's out there? I tried to find them, but couldn't come up with any. TIA, Ricardo
  8. I got Revell's 1/32 He111P and Bronco's 1/35 M1114 Heavy Armor. I am most impressed with both! Ricardo
  9. There's not much online about it, at least when it comes to something about accuracy. I'm not an expert on the matter, so I can't tell you if it has canopy shape problems, or if the tail is too short / tall, for example. It does look like a Forger to me and I'm sure it'll look good when built. This is one of those subjects I wasn't expecting to see in any scale, but here it is. I'm happy that there is one :) Check this link from IPMS Philippines Ricardo
  10. My 1/48th Yak-38 from Hobby Boss was delivered today (18.95€ those interested). I'm very eager to start it, but haven't brought much stuff with me to Germany to build it (no paints, no airbrush yet). If you want to check the manual, you can do it here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10146253 Has anyone started building it? Any hints? TIA, Ricardo
  11. The nose is wrong and the canopy is too pointy... The spine should have a softer transition from back to front. On a more serious note, the title says it's the first production model, but the text says it's the third. Ricardo
  12. Thanks guys. One of these days I'll go to Take-Off then. I guess I'll have to keep ordering stuff through mail. One other think, completely unrelated: do you know when will the Revell 1/32 He111 be released? I ordered it in late June, thinking it would be released on July 5th, but so far nothing :( Ricardo
  13. Thanks guys! I'll try to contact the local club. Hope they speak English. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut... BTW, which are the best German online stores? I build mostly military aircraft (from 1/72 to 1/32, whether modern or WWII) and 1/35 AFVs. Ricardo
  14. If I gave a damn, I wouldn't build anything... The last models I bought were: - Revell 1/72 B-17G - Revell 1/32 Hawk T.1A - Revell 1/32 He111P (don't have it yet) - Bronco 1/35 M1114 HA (don't have it yet) Start bashing. My 0.02€, Ricardo
  15. Hi guys, I moved to Frankfurt two months ago and apart from some Revell stuff at Galeria Kaufhof (at the Zeil) I didn't find any other modeling store here. I know there's Hobbytreff am Zoo but since they close at 18h30 I didn't have time to go there yet (I'm working at Niederrad and I only leave around 18h). I did order some stuff at Modellbau Koening (online store), but I haven't got them yet. One of them is the new Revell 1/32 He111 and I'm not sure when it's going to be released. So, my question is simple: where do you guys get stuff like paints (other than Revell), models, etc.? Also, w
  16. Thanks for all the input. -Neu-, if you have time, please recommend more books :D As for "Mein Kampf", it's already in a box with other books. Even where I live it's mixed with other books. It's not like I have it on display or something like that (a friend of mine once laughed at my bookshelf, because I had Marx's "Capital" and "Mein Kampf" side by side. He thought that was kind of ironic). Ricardo
  17. I'll leave that decal sheet here in Portugal then. I'll add them to my models when I get back one day (could take years, I don't know). Ricardo
  18. What if I already have them? I think it's illegal to build a model displaying a swastika. I've seen people not using it or covering it with paper when they show the model (not sure about how legal is that). Ricardo
  19. Easy. Cut 2 mm above and 1mm below the knees, glue everything back on, use some putty... Done  If doing a 1/48th jet, use a 1/72 pilot. It should work madcow
  20. I never read the book from start to finish. Like others said, it really is boring and badly written (but I haven't read it in German, though). -- EDIT -- Back to modeling, I just remembered I have a decal sheet with swastikas (and only swastikas, that I bought for some Revell kits I have). I think I should leave that here, right? Ricardo
  21. Thanks for all the replies. And yes... the book on the shelf does raise some eyebrows, eheh. Ricardo
  22. Roger that. I'll put it together with my history books then :) Thanks Ricardo
  23. I actually bought mine on Amazon.com :) Well, I guess that I shouldn't have any problem then. Thanks. Ricardo
