  1. That's just what the armour guys at my IPMS branch said ! (you can always spot their cars in the car park ! ) Thanks for the links chaps - that auction site is a fascinating find ! As for the 'school bus' , I found that in a play set in a Las Vegas Toys R'us 6 or 7 years ago (there goes my High Roller status). It seemed to be about the right scale, sorry I don't have details about the manufacturer (the set also included a 'dumpster' (?) truck which looked very similar to the tractor unit of a Minuteman transporter. If anyone finds anything else please post it here ! Cheers, Haydn.
  2. That's great Phil, as Chris has said we are keen to find pictures of any USAF Vehicles (Refueling trucks, emergency vehicles - everything !) This is pretty much all we have so far.... Cheers, Haydn.
  3. Yep that's the one ! It looks to have had any 'ownership' markings oversprayed ? Anyhow, a kit is available in 1/72 so if it turns out to be Air Force I'll build it. Thanks, Haydn.
  4. Hi Phil, Some very nice pictures there. Is the sand coloured Oshkosh Wrecker a USAF Vehicle ? Cheers, Haydn.
  5. Fantastic ! A BIG thankyou for posting those ! I lived at Finningley at the time and remember that deployment - wish I could have got that close. Cheers, Haydn.
  6. Hi Mungo, The only 347 TFW markings I've ever seen were in a Fuijimi 1/72 F-4E and they were not too clever. I did a 69TFS F-16C in 1/72 and hand painted the markings - they were rubbish ! Still hoping for proper decals. Cheers, Haydn.
  7. I think the kit is a little gem without any major construction problems although I found I had to build up the cockpit floor to set the seat at the right height. The kit does miss out the end plates on the drop tank 'wings' and also lacks any other wing pylons but these can be easily added. My major reference source was the Squadron Signal F-86 in Action but I have since bought the Air Force Legends F-86H Sabre 'Hog' by Earl Berlin which is packed full of detail and an inspiring array of schemes (although it lacks the SEA camo pattern). Cheers, Haydn.
  8. Some very useful stuff on the RedFlag scale modellers site. Check this out for the colours in the paint scheme.... http://www.rfsm.homestead.com/files/112_1217.jpg Cheers, Haydn.
  9. Ay up Tigercat - if you email me your snail mail I can post you some photocopies. Cheers, Haydn. usafsig@aol.com
  10. Does anybody have any info on the Smith Tempo II Invader conversion ? It ended its days with the weather research dept.of the Univ. of Nevada. Cheers, Haydn.

    1/72nd C-130J

Hey Jen - how about some DIRCM turrets ? (I have more wine !) Cheers, Haydn.
  12. Does anybody have any drawings for the Euro-1 scheme originally applied to the C-27 ? Cheers, Haydn.
  13. Yes you did ! And I'd been rehearsing "Good grief, I thought you were dead" ! It's Huddersfield for you ! Cheers, Haydn.
  14. I'm on Juliens left, with the coffee cup. Haydn.
  15. Haydn Hughes - USAF SIG Stand. Try some jerky !
  16. I've built the Welsh Models kit which is a very nice multi-media kit and I used the lettering and stencils from the Drawdecal sheet (I cut out the windows on my kit and a dded an interior so I didn't use the red fuselage decal stripe). I'm afraid this is only one of two photos I have of the model as it was trashed by the wife a couple of months afterwards ! (pilot error). http://photos.kitmaker.net/PH0T0_ENTRY_Z/15021/DSCN0310.JPG Cheers, Haydn.
  17. What's that Ted, you'll be doing some light embroidery ? Haydn.
  18. This site is worth checking but the prices can be a bit steep AND there may be problems with exporting to the UK... http://www.flighthelmet.com/aircraftparts Cheers, Haydn.
  19. I'd go with the Italeri/Revell A-10 everytime. You could argue that some of the lumps and bumps are slightly over size but it comes accross as a Hog. One thing about the Academy kit - check the door for the boarding ladder, it's the wrong way round. And Double Ugly - that's a nice looking model you've done there ! Cheers, Haydn.
  20. Hi Tomcat fan - If you check the Afterburner discussion thread in the Manufacturers section you will see that Scott has spotted the problem and has people working on sorting it out ! Regards, Haydn.
  21. Hi Mark - you're welcome. Envelope stuffed ! Cheers, Haydn.
  22. Hi Mark - I can post a you a set if you like (and the decal sheet) - PM me with your address if you want. Cheers, Haydn.
  23. I've built the -200 as a JANET. The kit comprises a vacform fuselage, resin wings, engines, tail planes and tail and white metal undercarriage and decal sheet. All parts are nicely done and go together without too much trauma. I have to admit I made my job harder by cutting out all the fuselage windows and replacing the vacformed windscreen which had to be split in half and inserted from the inside. Nice aircraft and a nice kit. Okay, not cheap though ! Haydn.
  24. I've just started work on the RVHP C-26B. Very nice little resin kit and going together very well. My problem is the colour scheme - the instructions say overall FS 36118 Gunship grey but all the photos I've seen look more like the FS 36173 Battle/Proud Grey used on AMC C-17s, -5s, -130s etc. Does any know for sure ? Thanks, Haydn.
