  1. Something about one "Oh ****" erasing a hundred "Attaboys", perhaps?
  2. I, too, agree with that assessment. The Hog and its pilots do not deserve this kind of hammering for really such a small number of screwups, especially given the number of times that they've gotten it right.
  3. Yeah, that's the one. I wish we could find some higher quality pictures though...
  4. APKWS would be just the thing for killing Boghammers. Why waste a missile meant for killing a fifty ton tank on a five hundred pound speedboat?
  5. Does anyone have any diagrams of the so-called Killer Whale paintscheme for the B-1? It was never applied to operational aircraft, but I thought it might look neat in MS Flight Sim.
  6. The inside roll is easy. Start by making sure the cuff is on its widest button, then turn it inside out and slide it up the sleeve to the armpit of the jacket (sort of like the normal roll-up, but without actually rolling it up). This will reduce the length of the sleeve by half. Now take the bottom of the rolled-up sleeve and turn it inside out as well (just like what you did with the cuff), and slide it halfway up to the armpit. now take the exposed cuff, and roll it back down over the rolled-up sleeve, turning the cuff back to right side out. As for the red borders, I've been duckin
  7. A couple questions: First, do they still use Destroyers as Plane Guards, and if so, does the destroyer still get fifteen gallons of ice cream for each pilot they pull out of the drink? I know that was the deal for such things in WWII, and that sounds like the sort of thing that would cause a lot of grumbling if they changed it...
  8. Sounds less like a museum for Boeing planes and more like a Museum that Boeing donated a lot of money to, and thus was allowed to put their name on it.
  9. Thanks, Waco. Second question: What units have raptors now, and where are they based, and what units are going to get them in future, and where will they be based? If you're not allowed to answer that, I understand.
  10. No, the rudders just look to be deflected away from the camera (to starboard).
  11. May I remind you gentlemen that the Mighty Tweet doesn't NEED wings to fly? :D
  12. Did Nellis AFB permanently receive Raptors like Tyndall and Langley did?
  13. I shoulda seen that coming! :) :) Thanks, man!
  14. I don't really know enough to make a meaningful reply, But I find myself agreeing. The MH-53J/M have size on their side. They are very fast and maneuverable from all I've heard, especially for such large birds, and have room for a lot of gas. That same size also means that they should be able to carry a lot more people and gear than the CV-22, which I've heard referred to as the Pave Hammer, at least in Dale Brown's books. Although what I really would have liked to see would have been an MH-53E Sea Dragon (the one with the ridiculously large fuel sponsons) fitted with the avionics and weap
  15. Okay, and I too hope that Murph or Waco or someone will chime in. Nothing personal.
  16. Looks like an F-4C, maybe.
  17. Thanks Colin, that's what I suspected, but I wanted to be sure. Bullseye, as I recall is usually randomly picked each day, and changed often to keep the enemy from guessing it, and thus being able to decipher the information being passed to the interceptors. And I'm still not sure what BRAA stands for, though I'd bet it's "Bearing, Range, Altitude, Airspeed". Also, does anyone know if a group means a formation, or whether its more loosely organized, like a flight of hostiles arriving at the same time, but at different altitudes, airspeeds, and headings, so as to further complicate things f
  18. Negative. The left outboard pylon is there, hiding in the shadows as you say, but not the right one. Nor is there an interruption of the light visible through the air gap in the flaps large enough or in the right place to be the right outboard pylon. Also, the left outboard pylon is peeking out into the daylight, but the right pylon is not, and it should also be peeking out if it were there.
  19. Can you guys help me decipher this? Got it from a guy on another forum who said he was in the AF weapons controller school. Start with commit call TRash01 Kill left 030 angels 33 cutoff Demon23 single group bullseye 131/20/34 thousand Hostile Trash01 Group BRAA 100/45/34 thousand hostile Specifically, I understand "TRash01 Kill left 030", "bullseye 131/20/34 thousand Hostile" (Need help with which of the first two numbers in the bullseye call means bearing and range), and have a fairly good guess at "100/45/34 thousand hostile", but I don't understand the use of the term "group" (the ter
  20. Dumb-*** question for Collin: I'm just wonder what "Bugger Bombing" is?
  21. #2 may not be the Iraqis fault. RWRs of that vintage weren't meant to recognize a Track-while-Scan radar mode. They were more looking for the changes in frequency and scan rate indicating a traditional missle lock.
  22. More fodder for the Raptors, they mean. is there anything non-classified that anyone can tell us about how they're doing in Red Flag? Obviously I have my own personal estimations, but...
  23. At least the Bean Counters haven't managed to send HER the way of the Tomcat! Nice shot, BTW.
  24. It could definitely do that kind of damage if it hit the lead plane at or near head on, more so if the target picked the wrong formation, like a diamond. The Wingies would get tagged by expanding shrapnel, and the guy in the slot would get a faceful of exploding flight lead. I have no idea if the Iranians' claims are true, but the AWG-9's MiG-repeller status in Desert Storm does lend their claims some credence. They wouldn't instantly turn tail and run unless they had reason to fear it, and a number of successful Phoenix shots would make a pretty good reason. But as for the Phoenix hanging
