  1. I have discovered the wonderful world of 1/48th and am currently working on a P-40E whilst a good friend works on some major under carriage repairs to a P-40N I started on which was envolved in a nasty collision with kids!! The Misses was very impress how very calm i was about the whole incident! After having so much fun with the 2 P-40s I have on the go I startered looking round for something to try my new toy (Iwata airbrush) out on. I have gone and bought some of those fancy Alclads and now want to have a go at some natural metal finshes. I saw so many great reviews on Tamiyas P-47D I just
  2. Have just dug out a Revell F-4F from my kit only to discover that the instructions are missing. Im sure I can get started with it but could really do with a copy of the instructions and any free advice from anyone who has tackled this beast before. Regards and best wishes Blacksheep
  3. I quite fancy having a go at one of Tamiyas 32nd scale Phantoms but not sure which is the better kit. To be honest I would love to build one of each but my space is limited. Are all the kits of the same quality or are new releases of a higher standard. I would like to tackle one out of the box so would like the kit that not only makes up the best with limited after market parts but also is the best value for money. Any advice hints and tips on tackling such a large bird would all be greatly appreciated Regards and best wishes
  4. I have got the wonderful Trumpeter A-7E and now im trying to do some research as I do like to work from real reference material. I plan to Golden Dragons VA-192 aircraft 157530 off the Kitty Hawk in 72. All I have managed to do so far is discover that it was lost to AAA in Nov 72 while bombing a railway bridge and have one coloured plate from the Osprey book that matches the box art. I know during its final raid it was using Walleye can anyone tell me what the standard configuartions for these type of raids using Walleye were??? Any info on this Aircraft or the Golden Dragons during 72 would
  5. I spoke with some of AIRFIXs top guys on Saturday at the IPMS show at Telford there I saw the preproduction Nimrod and Camberas along with the tooling for the TSR2. For Those who say these subjects have no followers the TSR2 is already sold out with 13000 pre orders and the Extra decal sets with there what if decals have been Hannants greatest seller of all time. AIRFIX has now seem to have become very much focused on the build for the demand market issuing only very limited numbers with lots of press building up the hype as with the Concord kit last year. To be honest in my opinion Airfix i
  6. My 2 best modeling buddies and myself made the journey to the IPMS UK show in Telford on Saturday. Lots of great new bits to drool over on the trade stands and some amazing displays from IPMS clubs from all over the UK and well beyond. The only disapointment was AIRFIXs attitude to there forth coming releases. The TSR2 is now sold out on pre-orders with no second run due for at least 4-5 years so if like me you had waited till you got to see a review of the kit its now too late they are gone. So if you want the 48th Cambera or the 72nd Nimrod book early. The real huge seller of the day was
  7. Im currently working on a German F104G in 1/72nd. The kit im using is the very crisply produced Hasegawa model of the G. In checking some reference material against the paint scheme in the instuctions I have hit a snag. The scheme says that the standard Marinefliger scheme is nueteral grey uppers and silver lower but the photos I have seem to show the top surface as a fairly dark grey and the lower to almost be a light aircraft grey rather than a silver. Could someone direct me in the right direction so I can order up the correct RML paints. Regards and best wishes
  8. I have managed to find an independent dealler through Ebay that trades in IWATA brushes here in the UK. His prices seem to be a great deal more competative than those advertised by airbrushes.com. The best price I have managed to get so far is 72.50 for a revolution HP-CR including delivery thats just over $132 US. Any suggestions on cheaper retailers please let me know, Every penny saved goes towards a spray booth!! (My next post)
  9. I have checked out the Bearair site and they have some great deals but unfortunatly the site says unable to ship to the UK once you get to the cart. UK prices seem to be around 1/3 higher than the US.
  10. Really struggling to find IWATA dealers that will ship to the UK any more suggestions guys???
  11. Thanks for all the great posts, I have done lots of thinking about and I think the Revolution CR best suits be needs for the near future. Can anyone tell me what sites I should check out for the very best deals on a revolution?
  12. I have read so many posts on which airbrush I should buy but many are not easily avalible to me in the UK. I have decided that I want to buy an IWATA I have a budget of around £150 UK pounds I think thats about $240 US dollars. I have never used an airbrush before I want something that not only can I learn with now but I can develop with as i get better. I do mainly 1/72nd at the moment and really want to get spraying some alcladII for those great metalic finishes. On the Iwata web site they say that pretty much all are suitable for Model makers so where do I start?? An advert for IWATA shows
