  1. I haven't been on facebook in 2 years now 😕 Don't suppose anyone wants to shoot my email address to him? (jhousdan at hotmail dot com)
  2. title says it all. I'm gonna do a shelf of every F-111 variant, and the B conversion will obviously be the hardest to do, so I'm starting early. Anyone have one they can let go, or at least loan me long enough to take measurements?
  3. I got their A-10 LASTE upgrade set a few years back.... and somehow managed to land a nose from their Academy F-22 upgrade set in the process, lol.
  4. The Decelerons are easy enough to close up on the monogram kit. The biggest problem with the monogram kit is that it represents pretty much a brand-new 1977 delivery A-10, with all the period-appropriate lumps and bumps. A LASTE upgrade set will take care of most of that, but you're still left with an A-model cockpit... though that pretty much puts you on the same ground as all the other kits. I'm not in to rescribing and I don't mind raised detail, so that's not an issue for me. I've got a monogram kit I'm in the process of building up as an Arkansas A-10C. I used the Sierra Hotel
  5. any decal sheet you buy should have proper painting instructions with it.
  6. they need to do a second JASDF weapons set with that also includes the J/AAQ-2 FLIR/Targeting pod! Maybe now that they've got their AMRAAM derivatives online along with these missiles and a few others, maybe a new set will reveal itself someday.
  7. The weapons boxes mean nothing to us at this point
  8. And now Sio is evidently gonna build one....
  9. If they have kits available for a build-off, then why are they bothering with this circle-jerk when they could be shipping kits to people who have been on the hook for a pre-order? Sio, how did you guys possibly think this would be seen as a good thing? You missed your window for showmanship, SHIP THE KITS.
  10. I think they look just fine. On the plus side, now they'll be easier to paint
  11. Even then, only hasegawa 1/72 kits after a certain boxing (I think it was their diamondbacks F-14B boxing? Maybe the black knights history kit) include the pylon in-box... otherwise you're stuck getting a weapons set (which would have the pylon and pod)
  12. it's a misnomer, but most people still usually call it the -14. (smart people looking to avoid a banal argument about semantics just call it a LANTIRN and move on... probably the best idea here too.)
  13. they tested with an ALQ-14 in 1995 before creating a pod that combined the two
  14. A litening pod is not the same as a LANTIRN unfortunately.
  15. I thought I was looking at Revell sidewinders at first.
  16. my last count was around 40 airframes still flying as well. Anyone's guess as to how many are MC. This is the first I've heard about new MFDs in anything other than the F-14AM though. Same stacked screen layout?
  17. Good. Anything and everything the rest of us have to say in this thread has absolutely zero bearing on you.
  18. "Need"? No, this is a hobby... no one NEEDS anything. As. Tomcat fan though, while there are kits that will always be "good enough" for me (the revell tomcat will always be a favorite for me. Good shape, easy to build, easy to modify), I will never not be excited about a new, more accurate and easier to build kit on the market (read: Tamiya). I was initially just as excited about the AMK, until images of the real plastic started leaking, then instead of being transparent about listening to our concerns, they tried to deflect, saying "hey, look at our multi-piece wings!"
  19. Soooo nothing. You've fixed nothing. Will the wings fit the academy kit?
  20. The number of apologists in this thread is staggering. "The seats were probably meant for pilots..." "In the end, I won't notice, and neither will anyone else..." And so on. Arent we a little past this point? Besides... AMK proudly proclaimed that this would be the best, most accurate Tomcat kit ever. Shouldn't they be made to learn from such marketing errors? How can they improve if they are not edified? If everyone tries to sweep it under the rug, where is the incentive for AMK to step up their game? From everything I've seen, it's about on the
  21. Are those the final ejection seats?
  22. Sooooo nothing. They've changed absolutely nothing.
  23. This. I can cover and cut a lot quicker than I can a precut mask. And it's usually a better quality tape.
  24. It's been a billion years since I've seen the show, but I seem to recall he had LASIK surgery or something else done on his eyes to restore his flight status
  25. When it comes to reference material, I insist on physical copy. The e-version benefits are nice, but I hate being restricted by a screen that constantly turns off and/or demands battery power. DRM concerns rank pretty high for me too. If I pay for a reference book, I want to own that book until *I* decide to get rid of it, or whatever. DRM doesn't affect things like reference material often, but I'd rather not have to worry about it. I don't like e-books, but occasionally I'll get one on audible to listen to while at work
