  1. He also thought he was a @#$%-hot photographer. And he married a wookee from Louisiana.
  2. I have some small skill in drawing/printing decals. Which markings are you wanting to do? PM me.
  3. Yes and no... the fact that it's gone on for 176 pages is a testament to how long AMK has dragged everyone along. The "dog pile" effect is unfortunate, I'll agree with that. Especially when the "me too/me three" people don't add any kind of new insight, but such is the nature of the internet. People have the right to be heard, but I do agree that more than one post each (unless in response to someone else) without new info OUGHT to be sufficient. Also the hyperbole regarding Tamiya and GWH, or any other company really doesn't really do anyone any favors. I may be guilty of a little of that mys
  4. There could be perhaps a SMALL argument made that by setting expectations (both about kit accuracy and delivery timetable), AMK *has* harmed their potential customers from a business/marketing standpoint. AMK has boasted proudly that their kit would be the single most accurate Tomcat kit ever. Tomcat enthusiasts would obviously clamor for such an item, and it shouldn't come as any surprise when the fanbase takes the company to task when their product (prototype shots though they may be) doesn't deliver. That was a claim that Sio and company made in good faith, riding the waves of e
  5. This was a common arrangement for a lot of aircraft carrying MERs. This is referred to as a "slant four" loadout.
  6. there aren't a lot of photos out there, the Peruvians have never been huge on having their military aircraft photographed by the general public. There are a couple of good photos in the Yefim Gordon book of the combat models, but none of the trainers. They only had 3-5 UM3s and they're long out of service now. There's a pic of one on the Wikipedia page, but it looks like a recent photo with a very faded paint job.
  7. the color is FS 15044, Gloss insignia Blue. In certain lighting conditions, the color is often mistaken for black.
  8. because "mah wings gotta have dropped flaps or else it ain't good!"
  9. By definition, that IS sensorship. (I'm not tryin' to say... I'm just sayin'.) Sio's assertion that the only detractors are from his "competitors" is farcical at best. When you boast that your kit is going to be the best and most accurate iteration out there.... especially in a subject so saturated as the tomcat, you can be damn sure people are going to nitpick. We want the kit to be perfect... we would be beyond thrilled if it were. But dont put test shots out there and not expect them to get nitpicked. You wanna edit or shut down the thread,
  10. You have to do that anyway on the academy kit, so the same goes regardless of which kit you use them on.
  11. I don't know the answer to that for certain, but I believe they were a function of the speed. The faster the airspeed, the more they deployed.
  12. http://www.arcair.com/TnT-archives/tnt-main.shtm Very top of the page is a scale converting tool.
  13. I'm still waiting for Kitty Hawk's announcement now that the new year has passed... especially now that GWH has blown the lid off of theirs. 😄
  14. Best of luck on that, transparency isn't one of AMK's watchwords. Do they owe us an explanation? Certainly not. Would it go a LONG way towards fostering a better relationship with those they'd like to be their customers? Absolutely. In either case, since I cancelled my pre-order, I guess I don't have a dog in this fight any more. If an explanation had been given as to why they've continually missed deadlines, I might have held on to it.
  15. It's been molded at least twice, actually... and I can actually find them easier than I can the bog-standard A-6E kit. (at least around here)
  16. That you started it, maybe? I'm not tryin' to say, I'm just sayin'....
  17. It's there, they just don't mention it in the instructions. For as much detail as Tamiya put into the kit, their instructions sometimes leave a bit to be desired. Another example is in the F-14D kit... if you're building the VF-2 option, they tell you to use the sparrow-well blanking panel used by F-14As and Bs on TARPS-wired jets, when that panel wasn't used in D models. (and I don't recall it being mentioned at all in the A kit, though I think all the options in the F-14A kit pre-date the introduction of TARPS)
  18. That's Tamiya being Tamiya and not proofing their research. THIS is the CAG jet: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.masm.fr%2FNavycag%2FMaddogDesignsProfiles%2FF-14%2FVF213-BlackLions-CAG-Mutha-Roosevelt-2006.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.masm.fr%2FNavycag%2FMaddogDesignsTomcat.html&docid=MyldOMcTUI_4jM&tbnid=F_x9_eChJJavNM%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjbsZe8l4LfAhXM3YMKHXcuC1AQMwhDKAUwBQ..i&w=1304&h=794&bih=860&biw=1768&q=VF-213 Last cruise CAG jet&ved=0ahUKEwjbsZe8l4LfAhXM3YMKHXcuC1AQMwhDKAUwB
  19. The CAG jet? or the Retro jet with the blue skunkstripe/tails? The retro-jet is what comes in the box, the jet was light gull grey. AS-16 is Tamiya's light gull grey approximation (there is no bottle form as I recall), 213's CAG jet was a bog-standard TPS paint scheme I think.
  20. There was a weapons-release camera pod created that would fit on the MXU-611, but I believe it was a one-off and only used at PMTC.
  21. I swear, reading through this thread (the last few pages in particular) is the bulletin board equivilent of wading through a kiddie pool of STD-infected needles... only the STD in question lowers your IQ and makes you question your life's decisions.
  22. Maybe 115 people were curious to know the same thing.
  23. Gerry, on the ECA, is that a blanking plate behind the adapter in the photo you posted? The ECA does not seem to go the entire length of the BRU slot.
