As Bob Ross would say it ended up being a happy accident. I used one of the new AK pens for the ceramic petals, but it bled under the masking tape. I used some Tamiya X20a thinner to try and clean it up and ended up with something resembling the real thing.

Academy's excellent 1/144 B-1B. Out of the box except for Wolfpack's 3D printed burner cans (a must I think). Primed with Mr Surfacer 1500. Main color was AK Real color Gunship Grey with Tamiya LP for the various other panels. The AK sprayed nicely mixed with Mr Leveling thinner. Decals were out of the box, printed by Cartograph. Weathering was mostly with AK Oil brushers and Abteilung oils. Duke Hawkins book on the B-1 proved an excellent reference. Inspiration for the build came from the Wings of Blue podcast with the Gen Richard Clark, Superintendent of the Air Force Academy. His crew

Getting ready to use AK Real Colors Laquer Based Paints.

I used it for the first time on this Bone. Mr Surfacer 1500 black primer, and the Gunship gray thinned roughly 50/50 with Mr Leveling thinner. Sprayed on very smooth, and I was able to get a nice tight fine line as well. -
Sorry for the size, this was taken with a Sony Mavic if anyone is old enough to remember them. Hopefully this gives you a better idea of Craig's description.

Skier 90, from the 109th in upstate NY. They are tasked with the Antarctic support missions. Had a chance to take a ride with my son's CAP squadron several years ago.

Looks like Diamond 'Lil got a good cleaning and touch up. They had a ceremony honoring Airman 1st Albert Moore, who shot down a MiG on Dec 24, 1972. Pictures from USAFA's Flickr account.

Army's isn't to shabby either. My daughter is a Falcon, so I don't have a horse in this fight. https://www.si.com/onsi/armed-forces-sports/news/army-football-reveals-incredible-jerseys-annual-army-navy-rivalry-game

Caught this one with a NAWDC tail flash at Oceana July.

Nice! I had a chance to get up close with Bonnie at Oshkosh this summer, so the Trumpeter kit is on my find list during the fall show season.

It looks like you are well on your way with this sheet. Here are some photos of 001 on display at Boeing Plaza in Oshkosh a few weeks ago. https://jbryan.smugmug.com/Airplanes/USAF/F-15EX-20-0001

1/144th too. Antennae farm and ejection seat hatches for the Minicraft D.

My son and I are making out first trip to Oshkosh this year.

I had the chance to visit Diamond Lil again yesterday. Here's the album for reference. https://jbryan.smugmug.com/Airplanes/USAF/B-52D-Diamond-Lil

I believe it's only on later models. I sanded it off for my stalled early 'Nam build.
