Willy, Try making Miliput your best friend to tackle those seams. Press the putty into the seam (also use for the intake to fuselage joint) using a putty knife, scrape off excess, and then smooth out with a damp q-tip. while things are setting up go over the panel (gently) with a scribing tool to get your panel looking good. chris

I am looking to finally dive into my 1/72 B-1 as I recently dropped the big $$$ on the Goffy Model cockpit. I am interested in modelling my B-1 with the flaps and slats down. I have seen many of the photos of this done on this site, but I need some help. Does anyone have any good drawings, plans, suggestions,or any detailed photos on how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do have the Peeters book on the B-1 as well as some other documentation. Furthermore, is the rumor true that Goffy will be doing a weapons bay as well? Chris

Robert, Thanks for the help with the load-out. I've never been overly concerned with minor accuracy discrepancies. How bad are they? So, based on that, I'm going to stick Kh-31Ps (and their pylons) on stations 9 and 10 just because they look cool and my Flanker is an Su-30/35 wannabee. I call it "airshow static display load-out". (Don't tell anyone!) I bought the weapon set because I wanted to throw on some air-to-ground ordnance and got a good deal on the kit. I'm going to review your drawings and reconsider. Thanks again. Chris

Fellow Flanker Fans, I recently purchased the Trumpeter weapons set to outfit my Flanker with some nifty weapons. I'm hoping to use some of the more interesting and exotic air to ground weapons found in the kit. Does anyone know how the Su-27 can be configured (other than air to air)? Thanks, Chris

Thanks for the reply. I'm leaning towards having the FODs in position. I'm going to finish painting them up and see how they turn out. It's just a shame to lose all that depth. Yeah, yeah; I'll post some pictures. I have a Nikon D90 camera and the files are HUGE, so I have to spend some time editing them down to a lower resolution. I also have dial-up. Bummer. I'll get on it this weekend in between re-building my deck and tending to a pregnant wife. I have the cockpit completed (Aires) and it looks good. The belts for the ejection seat were challenging, but I got them in. The IRST i

Hey there everyone. Been busy on my Flanker and everything is coming out looking pretty good. These have been great threads for help and inspiration. I'm at a crossroads and need your help. I have a dilemma with Zactoman's intake trunks. To FOD, or not to FOD? That is the question. Sometimes it sucks having options. The quality of the parts for both options are great, so I'm not worried about that. I hate to cover up a majority of the trunking and engine front with the FOD, but the FOD kicks *** and it should look fine as well. When on the ground, are the FODs up or down? Does it ma

I started my Zactoflanker last week and it is an interesting twist when the aftermarket parts fit better than the kit ones. I'm pretty far behind the curve of some of the other builds going on, but here's what I've done so far (with a little help from the current in-progress threads):

Fellow Flanker fans, I've been rubber-necking your in progress pics for the last couple of weeks and got started on mine just yesterday. My first step was cutting out my Zactocanopy. (I'm glad I have two!) I posted over on Hyperscale the other day a question asking for some Gunze matches (and mixes) for the cockpit, wheel hub green, as well as the overall aircraft colors. I haven't gotten any replies. Do any of you have the correct mixes or color numbers from Gunze? Also, are there any line drawings out there to help me add some rivet patterns? All of your builds have been very inspir

Would a Micro Mark pounce wheel work? The wheel would save a bunch of time over the beading tool (from what it looks like.) I tried out that web-stie and I can't find information on how to order the tools that you have. My German is a little rusty  so I wasn't able to find out what I needed. If you find rivet pattern drawings make sure you post them here for the rest of your Flanker bretheren! thanks. chris

Thanks for you help. Would thin strip of styrene fit between the HUD and the canopy? It would be nice to have a little definition under the canopy. What are the best tools out there available for doing the rivets? Thanks, Chris

What color did you paint your intakes? How about the fit of the Aires coming under the Zacotcanopy? I'm going to be starting mine in the next few weeks and your (as well as other) thread(s) have bee very helpful. Thanks. Chris

What's the ETA on the YF-23? Chris

Chris, Will your intake set and the Aires wheel wells work together, or will I have to get out the razor saw? Also, do you recommend the FODs in position, or keeping the compressor faces visible. I do have the Eduard set with the FODs. Do you know if they fit in your intakes? I'm out of town and my wife received your shipment the other day. So, I thank your for processing my order so quickly. However, my wife doesn't share our enthusiasm when "airplane junk" comes in the mail, and didn't understand why I wanted her to open everything up and describe what was inside. Thanks, Chris

Anyone built the Revell B-58 w/ Engines&Things cockpit?
swimmer25k replied to Chappie's topic in Jet Modeling
I bought mine from Roll Models a few years ago. You essentially get some blocks of resin for the parts. I ended up sanding off the surface detail and laminating all of the surfaces with thin sheet styrene. I've been using Mike Grant instrument decals, sprue, punched out buttons and dials, and other styrene bits. It's pretty easy, and the way to go (I think). For the engines I glued in the old Verlinden brass photo-etching for the F-15 inside of the cans. A friend of mine cast them for me in resin and they look really good. It would be worth the effort to try to score some of the brass. -
Zactoman, I'm new to your forum and was interested in purchasing the intakes, nose, and canopy. Are the intakes finsihed yet? Your web-site says they are still in the process, but it seems like a few have made it out. I'm looking to blow some bucks, so please let me know how to do it. Thanks, Chris in Dallas

Hey there, I'm new to this discussion board. I'm interested in dropping the slats and flaps on my 1/48 B-1. Where can I get my hands on some of the actual plans, or instructions on how to do it (if done already)?
