  1. Thanks for all the replies. I went ahead and painted it Euro 1 Green. It looks ok to me.
  2. I'm right there with you. I love every opportunity to speak up whenever Super Bug surfaces. He is a scammer and a thief to many. Chris
  3. I'd like to add some equipment like tow tractors, fuel trucks, etc to a large base I have for jets like a Mig-31 and/or Su-24. Advanced Modelling makes some weapons carts, but that's about all I can find. There are some nice tow bars for Flankers, but they don't seem to be universal to other aircraft. Thanks. Chris
  4. Gentlemen, Thanks for all of your replies. Thanks for your help. Chris
  5. What is the correct color for the cockpit of a P-47D bubble-top? I have a few different options for "interior green", and none of them appear to be the same. Brand and number would be most helpful. Thanks, Chris
  6. Were there any significant differences in the bomb bay of the B-26K with regards to its predecessors? I've seen some pictures of the RB-26K with cameras mounted in the bay and clear cutouts on the doors. Was this typical for the Ks? Were stores primarily slung under the wings leaving the bomb bays empty for the most part (translation: can I get away with closing the bomb doors on my 1/48 build)? Or, buy my Cutting Edge and Paragon sets from me so I won't have to worry about this? Thanks, Chris
  7. Happy ending. I found the missing Fencer parts I initially posted about. They were with the vinyl wheels and are made of that as well. What's the suggested adhesive to glue vinyl to plastic? Epoxy or CA? Thanks, Chris
  8. I'm working on the Trumpeter 1/48 Fencer and almost to the point where I have to start considering what kind of weapons to put on it. I have a nice array of resin candidates from North Star, Kazan, and Advanced Modeling. Some of the larger weapons like the KAB-1500L, Kh-59, and Kh-29s will limit how many stores I can use due to their (real world) size and weight. On the lighter -side, I can load up a bunch of smaller FAB bombs on MERs carried on the belly and large rockets (S-25 series) or more FAB general purpose bombs. More bombs equals more PITA to get them aligned.
  9. Did you take any WIP pictures? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Chris
  10. I've been messing around with the Tamiya F-14 for a while for a catapult launch diorama. The Tamiya kit is molded with the flaps and slats retracted. They'll need to be lowered for the diorama. KASL Hobby makes a resin wing set with these parts hanging down. I just noticed that the resin wings are warped. KASL added some wire down the wing for strength, but it looks like the resin droops where the wire stops. I've tried the hot water trick, but this hasn't fixed the problem. There are two distinct bends in each wing. Photos don't show any evidence to suggest that they are
  11. 1/48 Testors SR-71 with scratchbuilt LASRE and other funnites.
  12. Did you use the Aeromaster sheet? If so, how did it fit? Chris
  13. I have lots to trade or buy outright. Please let me know if you're interested. Chris swimmer25k@hotmail.com
  14. Thanks for the replies. I should be ok with my little turned brass part. One easy question. What is the best color for areas under slats/flaps? I'm used to US jets, so it's pretty easy in many cases. I'm not well versed in Russian/Soviet colors. Thanks, chris
  15. I'm currently working on a 1/48 Trumpeter Fencer. The mold halves weren't lined up all that great resulting in a part that will take some effort to fix (if I want to). I have one of those nice Model Master turned brass parts that I was saving for my Tamiya F-14. They look remarkably similar in detail and size. Dare I say that they are compatible enough that a thirsty Su-24 or 35 could grab some gas from a KC-135? Since they look pretty close in 1/48, I'm probably going to use the part unless there is a better/more accurate option available. Thanks, chris
  16. Ok. That made me laugh. I'm guessing if the real thing needs some weight; the kit version may as well. Im home sick from work. Thanks for the cheer.
  17. I've been sawing up a 1/48 Trumpeter Su-24 lately and have a question about putting weight in the nose. I'm using the Komplect Zip rear fuselage set with Amigo Models Su-17 afterburners. Both sets are resin. The wheels wells are pretty far forward on the kit, so it seems that it might need some counterweight in the nose. I'm also adding SAC metal gear, Aires cockpit and wheel wells, but they probably aren't enough. Anyone out there build this kit and have to address this? Add weight to the nose? Secondly, I'm using Foxbot Ukraine digital scheme. What would a t
  18. I could sell my Kittyhawk kit outright if you're interested. Chris swimmer25K@hotmail.com
  19. I may be willing to sell my Afterburner sheet. Shoot me an email. swimmer25k@hotmail.com Chris
  20. Hey there. I'm looking for the Furball Skywarrior sheet. I have lots to trade for or buy outright. Thank you. Chris
  21. Joeltc is on the money. The Academy kit is super-basic and lacks a ton of detail. I built the EF about 10 years ago kitbashing the Verlinden and Black Box cockpits, Cutting Edge intakes,Paragon flaps, Squadron canopy, and some scratch built parts. Hobby Boss adds most of that detail and then craps the bed with the canopy. I'm the lower threshold modeler who'll often overlook something like that, but not on this one. Mike Witkowski made a great HB FB-111 using the Squadron canopy and eliminated the weirdness. Chris
