  1. I've been told that it's out of stock pretty much everywhere. That Ambroid is either not producing it, or only producing a very small amount.

Does anyone have a clue as to when there will be regular stocks back on the market?

  2. Well, I saw the trailer at the Bond movie tonight, and I gotta say, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I draw a parallel to this whole "re-imagining" or "reset" the same way I drew with the newer Star Wars films....

We've had multiple decades of watching, re-watching, studying and formulating our own opinions of it. So, when a "new version" comes out, if it is in any way contrary to someone's own formed opinion, the first thing they do is say "I don't like it"... (it always surprises me how vehemently opposed die-hard fans are to change... I know it's something that people know and love, but why get angry or upset about it?)

Give the movie a chance. And remember that it is just what it is... a movie. If people end up not liking it, so be it. After 'Enterprise' basically fizzled out, I thought the franchise had no more steam. Perhaps this is the best way to breathe new life into it... And if not... so be it.

    My 2 cents...

  3. My God, Man!!!! That's incredible! You truly are a great modeler.

One question, I noticed that you were putting in some LED's and battery packs, does that come with the kit, or did you slap those together yourself?

  4. I'm soooo close to burning this kit <_< !!!

Has anyone else had problems with it? Nearly every seam needs to be filled and I used the seamless intakes, but the side of the fuselage has huge gaps. This is one reason why I haven't built a model in nearly 4 years. My patience is wearing thin.

You could always follow the "Take pride in making a crappy kit look good" philosophy!

    Patience Grasshopper!

  5. Hey guys....

I used to be a regular Aircraft Modeler, but got lured to the dark side and became a treadhead. Still enjoy doing both topics, but not really sure what my next "project" will be.

I used the Best Choice kit, an aftermarket "open burner can", Hasegawa targeting pod and Mavericks, and aftermarket Python missiles (I saw a pic of a Gripen with them once.)

So here it is, not neccessarily accurate, but I'm happy with it...... Hope you like it. <_<

(btw... the 2nd pic, the aircraft sits flat, I must have held the camera cockeyed.)

  6. IMHO, this is probably the best show on TV. This being said, it also has the very real chance of becoming very bad.

I don't agree that the show has gone south yet, but any show this good can only go on for so long before it must end (Babylon 5 comes to mind... sci-fi series or not). I just hope there isn't an eternal cliffhanger like someone mentioned before. Also, I really hope they don't just "settle" on who the last Cylon .... I really hope it isn't Admiral Adama.....

  7. Brad: The registration fee was in the IPMSUSA magazine along with a very long list of other fees ...including the very high priced tours.

Since I've never been to a Nats, I don't really know... but are things normally as expensive as they are priced here? I'll be down there, but I really don't want to empty my wallet before I even get to the dealers tables.

    Keeping my fingers crossed...

  8. Good Evening, folks.

I have recently added paper modeling to my many interests, and I was wondering what kind of glue would be the best (strength, fast drying time, preferably a permanent bond) to keep the kits glued together.

    Cheers!

  9. One thing I've found is that you'll have no problem finding a hotel in Anaheim. I have, along with some friends of mine, have a couple of rooms booked at a hotel within walking distance of the Nats location.

It all depends on how much you want to spend on your room. There are plenty within walking distance of the hotel. I used a combination of Expedia.ca and Google Earth. The main "marker" being Disneyland. All you have to do is cut and paste the hotel's address into the search bar of Google Earth, and it will mark it for you. Another good point of reference is West Katella Avenue... which runs east/west.

Not to worry sir.... you'll be able to find something!!!!

  10. Heck, why not in Florida.... Key West or something like that... about as far south as one can get without having to speak Spanish..... :worship:

In all seriousness, wouldn't it be amazing to have the Nats in Orlando (or environs), and go on tour of the Space Center?

  11. Barring some insane reason work won't let me go, I'm clear to be down for the whole event.

Me and a couple other guys plan to drive down (probably a rental), visit a couple of museums along the way, pig out on the Seafood Buffet at the Rio Las Vegas, and blaze into Anaheim the Sunday before Nats Starts.

We're gonna kick back, see Disney's playground, jet down to San Diego for a day.... the list goes on....

This is going to be my first "pure" holiday on my own terms. (others have been with family, school groups, or volunteer groups, with any personal stuff happening afterwards)

How about the rest of you that are coming? Is it a vacation for you? Or, is it technically an extra-long weekend for you?

Regardless...... I'm absolutely geeked about coming down, and it's over half a year away!!!!!! :beer4:

  12. I have the 14" WARP Whitestar (Shadowkiller) kit, which I got from Federationmodels.com..... unfortunately, it's currently out of stock.

It seems to be a fairly nice kit. Being resin, it requires a fair amount of cleanup before assembly. I haven't started this kit, but it looks like a painting challenge of a lifetime, once I decide how to get it done.

(BTW... I just checked www.comet-miniatures.com and it appears to be in stock.... going for 60 pounds.... just type in 'shadow killer' in the search box, and you should find it)
