  1. That'd be a fun build to follow! This Huey is my practice run for my big project, 3 M1151's and an M-ATV, I'm going to build all of the trucks I had in Iraq and Afghanistan, but all will require SIGNIFICANT amounts of aftermarket ($150-$200 per truck) and scratch building so before I pull that trigger, I want to make sure I have a good idea what I'm doing.
  2. So I know it's not a Huey... but while researching the 190th AHC for my UH-1C build I stumbled onto this freak show. It was posted on the 190th AHC site, but no details so unsure of the unit. I posted it here hoping someone can do some digging and find out if the rest of the unit birds were camo'd too (a shot in the dark)
  3. I'd use flickr, it's a smoother platform, has an app, and you have more space.
  4. No worries! I would love if this thread deviated occasionally. Especially because usually these detours end up with good ideas! Starting a Huey thread is brilliant. While researching this bird I've been hitting up a lot of the unit pages and most of them are on incredibly slow servers with pretty poor sites. I've been seriously considering contacting the units and volunteering to build them new ones... but yes it'd be nice to have a huge reference in one spot. Also, this build will start soon! My Eduard set is scheduled to arrive any time now, and my workstation i
  5. I feel like I missed something somewhere, what picture are we talking about?
  6. In my experience, medevac crews only load as many stretchers as needed for incoming patients, so it's common to see an empty cabin or one chock full of strecthers
  7. A message from the master himself! Thanks for all input to everyone, especially regarding the glue, last thing I wanna do is wreck it all with bad glue placement
  8. So I expected to get started on my build tonight until I looked at the directions on the Eduard website for the Big Ed set for the UH-1C set (which thankfully are online) and realized that EVERY subassembly has photoetch parts on it. Unfortunately this means my build is on hold for a few days until my PE set arrives....that being said, this is the first time I've ever used a PE set, and I'm curious if this super glue will work well with brass... any suggestions?

  10. The only weapons on board are the crew's personal weapons, usually 2 M-4s
  11. Shipment of new Vallejo paints just got in, finally going to get some bench time in!
  12. Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna be using the Eduard set, which replaces the kit seat armor.
  13. Those cable drops for the pilots are perfect, totally nailed it. It's the little things like that that really set a kit over the top, excited to see how this turns out! By the way, how did you make those cables?
  14. Let's get her done! I'm starting a 190th bird also, and I'd love to see some of your resources, I've saved almost every photo from the 190th website
  15. The build has officially begun. Doing an inventory of the pieces, and like everyone else, MRC got me with the ammo belt on the clear parts. It's on the main windshield but I think it's salvageable. Aftermarket goodies should be here this week and I can get really cranking on this soon.
  16. Lurking the archives today for research, you ever finish this build?
  17. Excellent! I was sitting here trying to think of the best way to scratch build them.
  18. Welcome to the site man! I'm also just getting back to the hobby, starting with a Huey also. Looking forward to seeing your work
  19. I'm a ground pounder by day, so all these engine terms are confusing me to death, my Google skills aren't what I thought they were or something, but can you break it down Barney style regarding the scissor links?
  20. Alrighty, things are progressing. Got the kit in the mail today, Vallejo paints, the Big Ed PE set and RB miniguns are all in the mail. Ready to get cranking on this baby.
  21. Thanks for the FS numbers!
  22. Going with the Big Ed set, no luck finding the minimum barrels but still not entirely sure how I'm going to arm her yet. Like I mentioned in the first post; I'm starting from scratch in paints, any color recommendations?
  23. Looks like I might have just found an aircraft to build!
