  1. Hi Marcel, Are you still looking for this sheet? I am selling mine now as have selected a different aircraft to finish mine as.
  2. The sets are gorgeous and in conjunction with the CAT4 wheels and the Caracal decals, will make for a nice model. The one thing that gets me, which no one seems to have mentioned, is in step 7 of the assembly instructions. There are two parts C24 and C25 which the instructions would have you glue to the canopy sill. These should in fact be glued inside the lower front of the canopy, especially if you are modelling the kit with the canopy open. I've done a quick edit on the instructions to show what I mean.
  3. Both Hasegawa and Cutting Edge did this scheme in 1/48 also, although they will be a little harder to find now
  4. Note that these aircraft are all Super Mikes and need the enlarged landing gear legs and gear doors. The footage of the VX-5 A-4M landing on the deck is original and was spliced in with the footage of Scott Glenn "flying" it for the movie.
  5. The main issue to be careful of is whether the aircraft is a Mike or a Super Mike. Only Hasegawa have released the kit as a Super Mike, but it was limited edition and long out of production. The easiest way to tell the Super Mike is the enlarged landing gear doors, and the scissor link on the MLG legs, if you can see them. The BuNo is also a giveaway if you know which ones to look for. These were BuNo 160036 and the final production batch of 160241-160264. Hasegawa Super Mike sprue from kit 09611
  6. There is always the VMA-223 jets when they had the VMA-331 tail colours. Pretty sure these haven't been done (AFAIK) https://www.airfighters.com/photo/214105/M/USA-Marines/McDonnell-Douglas-A-4M-Skyhawk/160256/ There are other examples of this scheme, but this is on a "Super Mike" A-4M.
  7. While I agree that more Bulldogs loving is needed, this jet has already been covered
  8. How about one of the few A-4Ms to fly with no hump. NAS Dallas detachment.
  9. You can do pretty much any of the schemes already included in the kit anyway as they all have some errors, some more significant than others, as was pointed out above. There are alternatives not covered also. I'd put my vote in for this jet given an option (this squadron, but not this jet, is in the kit, but the decals are nearly useless).
  10. It's primed - waiting for painting and decals... Will see what Caracal do before making further progress I think.
  11. I am all too familiar with Old Models decals and there is a reason I am posting in this thread. Thanks
  12. And the special tail markings are made up of the Albatross, which is part of the 5 Squadron, RNZAF badge, but made to look like a silver fern which is the NZ national plant
  13. How about an RNZAF 40th Anniversary of P-3 Operations scheme?
  14. I knew there was a reason my conversion was on hold Please let me know if you need any information on the prototype Hornet as I've analysed it in depth, and it is important to note that the markings varied significantly during the early days. The markings on the first flight were different to the markings on the day of the rollout even. Looking forward to this sheet and a good reason to get my conversion completed.
  15. SPAD is 1/72 and 1/48. Sheridan is 1/72 and 1/35
  16. That camo B-58 was there but moved to the “What If” category because, as per builders notes, there is no photographic evidence Hustler wore that scheme, only speculation and rumour.
  17. Nothing that hasn’t already been announced. Kinetic has built ups and sprue shots of the 1/48 M-346 Master, MBK has the box for Wingnut Wings 1/32 Manfred von Richthofen ‘personality’ edition which will include a resin figure, Zoukei Myra had some new 1/48 and 1/32 pre-finished airfield and carrier bases along with separate wooden frames to hold them, and there was the earlier announcement by Kinetic of the 1/48 Mirage F-1. There is not really a large manufacturer presence here, only Eduard and Kinetic. Eduard has one of the largest vendor areas at the show, and plenty of the new 1
  18. Looking for 2 x decal #14 (red eagle, globe and anchor from the tail) x 2 from this kit. If anyone has it and is not planning to use those two decals, would be very much appreciated.
  19. Nice to see you got this finished. Mine progressed considerably since those last updates elsewhere, but I am trying to find out more info about the cockpit layout to get it correct. Like you I used the Hasegawa engine deck heavily modified. Glad my articles were of use and nice end result.
  20. Airfix and Italeri are very basic kits with heavy raised panel lines. Sword kit is quite recent, with finer recessed panel lines, and although not without a few issues, is going to be your best starting point in 1/72.
  21. Those items are actually on the correct side out of the box for an early A-4K, and shouldn't be swapped over. You can see the fuel dump mast clearly on the starboard side of this A-4K https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/A-4K_75_Sqn_RNZAF_at_Clark_AB_1982.JPEG Also don't forget to shave 1/2 mm off the mounting cylinder for the left landing gear leg, which is moulded in to the left landing gear bay. It is actually about .6mm deeper than the one for the right gear. What this means is, if the kit was built with the issue uncorrected, the left wing will sit around 2-3mm higher tha
  22. Just been finishing up this one. Will get on to the A-4K soon. Pictures of the finished model. Ended up scratchbuilding some intake blanks. TwoMikes Escapac ejection seats WIP thread here if anyone interested: http://www.kiwimodeller.com/index.php/forum/a-4-skyhawk-challenge/30008-skyhawk-challenge-hasegawa-1-48-oa-4m-skyhawk/edit/71996
  23. Just about to head up to Phoenix for 12 days, so not going to get much posted before I go. This is the Hasegawa Top Gun boxing, which includes all of the parts necessary to build an early A-4K in the SEA camo scheme. To the kit, I will be adding the following aftermarket: Master Models NATO refuelling probe Quickboost A-4E/F gun barrels Eduard Brassin LAU-10 Zunis TwoMikes Resin 300 gallon centreline tank Gekko Graphics RNZAF A-4G/K Skyhawks part 1 decal sheet I plan to add a pilot from the spares and build the jet in flight. Plan is to depict NZ6206 as it is starting its firing run
