Warlords update
CraigSargent replied to CraigSargent's topic in Legacy Hornet/Super Hornet Group Build Forum
I have some Hasegawa super fine etched mesh which is about the right pattern and size (if I decide to add the cover at all). -
Bernie, Decals arrived today. Thank you very much. Bernie is one of the good guys.

Made some progress on my Hornet (Hasegawa 1/48) which you can see the initial post of here. Was almost finished (decalling) a Hasegawa 1/72 IAF Spitfire, but that met a violent end (moving at speed into a solid object) yesterday, so as consolation and to get going again, have made an effort on the Hornet. Here is the BB pit painted and finally installed. So far the only change I made was to add the two cut outs either side of the rear avionics bay, which are missing from the BB decking. Still a couple of items to add (canopy lock handle, DISP button, standby compass) which BB also missed in

Here's a trick I learned for using deal paper with inkjets. As decal paper is a glossy surface, ink of the type used by inkjets will always pull back into droplets and you will get an unsatisfactory quality image. Try coating the paper first with the type of glue found in childrens glue pens/sticks, the clear liquid ones. Put some into your aoirbrush and spray on the decal sheet first. Let it dry thoroughly before putting through the printer. When the ink is dry varnish over the top to seal it. Viola, QED. With a good inkjet you can get photorealistic noseart and high quality decals.

In that case, go Golden Dragons. Be good to see the scheme done properly, and I always like the yellow landing gear. -

None of the above - can you say "Marines"? ;) You'll also note the Dragons bird has the correct dark blue colour in the profile. Unless you have the Hasegawa decals, all others are wrong as they would have it black! -

Wires in the wheel bays are Hasegawa moulded ones. No extra work there. -

The final scheme (was available for a while some time ago in a Hasegawa 1/72 boxing, but with the blue part of the decals in a teal colour and horribly wrong). My original 1/72 attempt: -

The black stars in the upper right corner marked TAIL and FUSELAGE will be printed in white. -
Black Box components painted and washed, awaiting detail painting. Black Box decking and Hasegawa etched HUD installed. Main gear bay painted. Nose gear bay painted. Decal artwork almost ready for the ALPS (need to add pilot's name first)

Is the end near?
CraigSargent replied to Matt Shropshire's topic in Legacy Hornet/Super Hornet Group Build Forum
No, only because I was going to join in - Matt have you received either of the e-mails I sent? -
These guys are all one in the same. I sent over $100 worth of resin and a good 1/48 model to this guy and have since found out he has a long track record of taking, and not fronting with what he promised in return. In his e-mail he said "I am new to this, so please be patient". What a gyp. DO NOT do business with this guy, no matter how sincere he (or any of his aliases) are. If anyone else has problems with him, I have his address and last known phone number. Regards, Craig Sargent

Hey Steve, Can we please have a known bad trader alert forum here as well? I have recently been stung by another known bad individual and it would have saved me some grief if there was somewhere I could have easily found out about him without having to search various forums. Regards, Craig.
