  1. What's that big "5" on the tail? Is Roush letting "Old Crow" race? This would be one of those 3/4 scale Mustangs with the Lycoming engine, right?
  2. So the 301st has both FrankenVipers? How cool is that?
  3. Thunder Over Texas, last year:
  4. Judging by the C-119 and the fence position, I gotta ask - is this at the Pate Museum of Transportation? If it is, it's the only shot from that museum I've seen where the aircraft were in decent shape - must've been right after the Thud arrived! I hear rumors that they lost all their USAF aircraft recently because of the sad shape they were in.
  5. Whoops - snuck a non-Texan in. Edited to fix it.
  6. Another classic I know we've all got nice shots of, and I'm surprised nobody's started a thread yet. So... My father in law and I found this one (a little research revealed it to be an SNJ - and it has faded French roundels under the wings!) at a small airstrip in Frisco, Texas. It has since disappeared, either into a hangar, or somewhere else... Hopefully its restoration has made more progress. And a few from the Cavanaugh collection:
  7. Another shot of 343: They almost seem like old friends, don't they?
  8. Couple more shots - not as nicely composed as my first batch.
  9. Found two more shots of the Cavanaugh Museum's Zipper: I may have Photoshopped a post out of the above pic - I can't quite remember. I do remember toying with the idea...if I did, I'm not sure why I let the one that obscures the nose remain.

    F-101

Shot by my father-in-law, Rick In Maine. There's a fenced-off area at Lackland AFB with several nice airframes ready for static display - an F-84, an F-102, and...
  11. Posted this in the All Harriers thread, but here's a Super Harrier at Thunder Over Texas last year:
  12. More from Lackland, the source for quite a few of my pics:
  13. Hey, I know which Thud those came off of...
  14. Very nice pic, and it's nice to see her in unfaded paint. She's now being displayed at the Cavanaugh Museum in Addison, and apparently is "on loan" there from Frontiers of Flight.
  15. 'Fraid it's not one I've got, it's one I've seen and am trying to find again. Frustrating as all hell, too. I don't think it was Salvadoran, though - pretty sure it was Dominican. But it's been a couple of years.
  16. This airframe (at the Cavanaugh Museum in Addison, Texas) now sports a very attractive Veitnam-era camo scheme, with the same insignia and bort number.
  17. Both from last year's Alliance Airshow in Fort Worth.
  18. Lots of 343, a former Carswell bird (and that's a nice pic of her above - what year was that?) And statics from Lackland AFB:
  19. Nice to see the Thunderbirds back in T-38s... So, there aren't that many civilian Talons out there - anyone know whose is sporting the T-Bird paint? Looks nice.
  20. Maybe that's Lt Col Madden's personal tally from earlier in his career?
  21. Dammit...and we were gonna go to that airshow, too...but wound up missing it. Sigh.
  22. Two from last year's "Thunder Over Texas" at Carswell: Static display at Lackland:
  23. Yeah, I haven't seen her in about a year, but last time I was there you could at least make out the tailcode still... Both need a good re-paint though. And hopefully without screwing the markings up.
