  1. Echoing what others said, excellent work Joel. Very nice looking Mossie!
  2. Great progress and skill in improving the kit Joel! Thanks for posting, so looking forward to seeing this one progress. Yannis
  3. Very very nice wildcat there, congratulations! Thanks for posting it. Out of curiosity and a bit out of topic, are there any other Midway F4F-4 wildcat decals in the market? I am only able to find ones depicting #23 of Thatch and nothing else.
  4. Very nice work on the Tbolt! I really like the weathering of the olive drab paint and as others said, very interesting and impressive scheme.
  5. Bill and phantom, many thanks for your kind comments, i appreciate it.
  6. Great work Giannis! Echoing what others said many congrats for the very realistic finish!
  7. Thank you very much for the kind comments kvlazer22. The canopy really tested my patience at some points... but given generous amounts of canopy-friendly CA glue and sanding/polishing it turned out as it should.
  8. Very nice metallic finish and very clean work!!! Excellent, thank you very much for posting this!
  9. Great work David, i really like the super realistic finish that you have on your work (past subjects as well). Furthermore i appreciate the historical details that you mention, very useful! Thank you very much for posting this. OT, mind if i pm you on a question?
  10. I would personally go for "patiently scribing away". Sometimes depending on the shape to be cut i also use some hasegawa (if i remember correctly) photo-etched saws. But even then, the first several passes are with a scriber.
  11. Impressive work Darren. Very "clean" build being a scratchbuilt one, looks like modern injection thanks to your skills. From what i hear the airframe is particularly difficult with respect to making it rigid/solid enough to handle due to its shape and size.
  12. No worries chukw. It did look odd on its own! Yannis
  13. Great work Darren! You really took a great kit to an even greater level.
  14. Thanks Brian, the resin wheels were indeed a serious improvement over the kit's parts. Yannis
  15. Thanks chukw for the kind comments! The red you are seeing is from the vinyl mask that i have used on the outside for masking the oval window (AM kit's mask). The photograph was taken with the windows masked off hence the odd effect. Yannis
  16. Hi all, Following the WIP thread here , this is a walkaround of the finished model. I hope you enjoy it and thank you very much for your time.
  17. Hi all, I finished this one some time ago and will present the WIP in one go. It is based on the well known Accurate Miniatures kit depicting a B-25C. Plane in question is the "Dirty Dora" from the 499BS of the 345BG, piloted by Vic Tatelman in 1943/1944, Port Moresby, New Guinea. On the plastic side of things, this one gave me some trouble. There were issues with fit and corrections/modifications were needed in order to correct things here and there. Indicatively, addressing the missing base of the turret's glassware, getting the turret to the correct height, repositio
  18. Ray the main difference for the P-47M was the engine (R2800 C series) which was boosted to 2800hp. This gave it a 475mph top speed (from 425mph on the P-47D-40). I have not heard or seen the six guns thing. Many M's did not have the wing pylons initially installed. I hope this helps.
  19. Thank you Pete, these kits are pure joy to build.
  20. Hi all, First post of a finished project here (i hope all goes well with posting images). It is an early P-47M-1RE in 1/48. The plane depicted is from the 63FS of the 56th FG in 1945. The Tamiya kit has been used along with Eduard selected bits and pieces in the cockpit. Further details like wiring, actuators for flaps etc were scratchbuilt. Decals are from Aeromaster and for painting, Gunze acrylics were used for the upper surfaces along with Alclad for the undersurfaces and leading edges. I hope you like it and thank you very much in advance for your time. Apologies in advance fo
  21. No worries, thanks for chiming in though! (Going a bit O/T if interested, since you mentioned turrets, the A/B widows had other differences. There where A's with turrets (very first few), A's with fixed guns in the turret position, A's without turrets, and the same for B's where only late B's had turrets if i am not mistaken, i don't remember the blocks now by hard.). As for my original question for the A-10 block i am leaning towards going YZC in the wheel wells both main and nose with YZC covers.
  22. Very inspirational scratchbuilding work! I am looking forward to seeing this build progressing, thank you very much for posting this!
  23. Breadneck, thank you for mentioning it and yes, I have been reading this for the last few years (it is an incredible source of information and help!) as well as the majority (if not all) of the related posts in most forums. Having several books on the P-61 myself alongside with electronic resources i have yet to come by a WW2 photograph of the wheel wells. As i have said the closest thing was a photograph of the XP-61 wheel well (or YP) which appears as YZC and the photographs of recovering the P-61B of MAAM (in which they appear to be unpainted).
  24. Happy new year to everyone! Many wishes to all for good health. First post here, glad to have become a member and I hope I can contribute to the community. (1/48 scale, USAAF, USN and USMC subjects with a strong preference to the Pacific Theater of operations). I am building an all black P-61A-10 on the PTO (1/48). While I have read all the relevant on-line information concerning interior colors (including parts / quotes from the painting orders) and consulted my P-61 books, I cannot seem to find proof for the color of the wheel wells and I would very much appreciate yo
