  1. Yeah, the Blk 30 has many more variations than the others---early vs late Blk 30 can have a lot of parts that are different.

Oh dear, I was afraid that might be the case. Specifically it's an aggressor based at RAF Bentwaters as depicted on this decal sheet and which this site advises me is a block 30a.

From the same site, a couple of nice shots of the bird itself: http://www.f-16.net/gallery_item39481.html and http://www.f-16.net/gallery_item308646.html on f-16Net, with due acknowledgement to copyright holders.

Thanks for the help guys, any more input welcome.

  2. Question say it all people; I want to build an F-16C block 30 in 1:48th scale, can the resident F-16 experts (Viper virtuosos perhaps?) advise someone who's more used to F-4s and 104s which is the best kit and any to avoid? Choices appear to be many, but I suspect Hasegawa may well feature ...

    TIA,

  3. ...21 PSI is waaaay high for this brush. You can go down to 10-12 comfortably, thin a bit more and Bob's your Uncle as the Brits lke to say

Agree, I usually spray (acrylics, mainly Tamiya) at about 15 psi, well thinned. I have an HP-CS and a Badger Anthem 155; the latter gets used occasionally for fast large area coverage, I generally stick to the Iwata. Thin to the right ratio (and I don't do numbers, just the consistency of skimmed milk or thereabouts) and Robert is indeed your Avuncular relative.

  4. (I believe it's called) "Churchill's War Room"

Just checked - "Cabinet War Rooms" - head down Whitehall towards Parliament Square, take a right down King Charles St, it's at the end.

    Hitch

PS, Hitchin, England is a short train ride outside of London :jaw-dropping:

I know, when I worked in London I went through it on the train every day.

  5. Motor Books in Cecil Court always used to be worth a visit when I worked in London, it's a small walk from Trafalgar Square.

    http://www.motorbooks.co.uk/

If you're into ships, HMS Belfast is one place I still haven't been but is bound to be worth a visit.

RAF museum and Hannants I also recommend. iirc Colindale from Leicester Square takes about 30 minutes, and make sure you get on a train going up the correct branch of the Northern Line - the tube map will explain it better than I can.

  6. Well, I have an uncle who served on the Oriskany, and he claims the carrier scenes were shot on that ship. Of course, he has a lot of "sea stories" that I've long since discounted as having any factual basis.

    ...

    SN

Don't know about Tora Tora Tora, but the USS Savo Island in Bridges at Toko Ri was actually the Oriskany.

  7. I try to run Tora every Dec 7, and Longest Day every June 6. Yankee Doodle dandy is great for 4th July, but very dated. Hal Sr

You and me both. Also don't forget September 15th - Battle of Britain - but then again why stick to once a year?

  8. ...

I'm sorry of the their choice of to release the Mig-21MF ...

Thanks for posting, but I'm not - I've waited for this for a long time as I've wanted to build a Czech MiG-21. I know Academy did a box that said "MF" - it was more of a MiG-21 PF or -bis iirc.

So I'm looking forward to this release, as if Eduard can't get a Czech MiG-21 right who can? After that, perhaps an F-13 as well ...

  9. Hi and thanks,

That seems to be the only photo available. Same photo as in "Spirit in the Skies", but larger, so more detail - thanks for posting.

If TwoBobs or anyone else is watching this thread, you know what's wanted!

  10. Forgive me if this should be in "research corner" instead, but it involves both historical fact (or as we're talking F-4s, phact :crying: ) and a modelling-related question so it seemed to phit here as well.

Anyway, my question: on 18 October 1986 an F-4S of VF-202 "Superheats" landed on to USS America (CV-66) and became the very last F-4 to take the wire on a carrier afloat. No doubt many a phan shed a tear or two!

Can the assembled phanatics here advise whether there any is documentary evidence exactly which aircraft this was, and does anyone do a set of decals for it?

    TIA,

  11. Hmm, interesting to see Revell boxing Eduard plastic (see the 1:48th Albatros and Fokker DR1).

Not sure if the Hawk could tempt me into 1:32, although if I did I'd want to do a camouflaged TWU bird from Brawdy or Chivenor - perhaps the relevant markings will be included ...

    Thanks for posting the link.

  12. People from East Anglian don't read sub titles? :P

    ....

I exepect most do, but this one didn't this time.

I might have something instore soon Mike, so keep an Eye out mate

    I'll wait with anticipation. :beer4:

(Incidentally, for those wondering where East Anglia is, it's the bulgy bit of England to the north-east of London - quite flat, huge skies, ideal for air bases, of which there were a huge number, particularly in WWII. As my sig says, "Mighty Eighth" country, and lots of RAF too.)
