Not just you, I had the same problems. It isn't so much the thickness that irks, as the propensity for cracking, splitting and silvering at the slightest provocation. My sheet was also missing the instrument dials, all I had was black circles! I used the new Xtradecal sheet instead, which was excellent. Next one of these I build though will get sprayed on markings and Hobbydecal stencils! Jen.

Having procured a second Echelon kit yesterday (one to build and one to keep) I have just spent nearly two hours re-reading through this entire thread, and saved it to favourites! What impresses me most about your scratchbuilding and finishing is the neatness, no raggedy edges or wobbly bits. I also love the fact that you refrain from cartooning your work with over use of washes and drybrushing. Lovely stuff Jen.

If you check out a few UK retailers you'll find that Paragon Designs and Neomega resins have got the Tonka pretty well covered! Jen.

Well I've started now, so expect loads more questions! Would the Euro camo have been anything like the one in the attached pic? http://www.herkynoseart.com/images/ac-130_07.jpg Jen.

Hi guys, Can anyone help me out, I need a set of seamless intakes for a Hasegawa 1/48 F-18A. If anyone has any spare, or can direct me to a vendor who has them in stock, I would be most grateful! Thankyou, Jen.
-
So, I know I should know this (!) but am I correct in thinking Euro one is two greens and a grey wraparound a la A-10? That's pretty cool if so :D Many, many thanks for all the info so far guys, more than very helpful I must say! Jen. P.S. Thanks to Grant for the heads up on references. I actually had the World Air Power book on my shelf, but never would have looked in it! :D
-
Thanks Grant, Thats exactly the sort of help I'm after! I'm happy enough to go with the grey finish, since that is what I have in the photo. As for the mods, I will try and do as much as I can (as well as correcting some of the kits basic flaws). The only problem with your list is that I just don't know what some of the stuff you are describing looks like! Can you point me to a suitable reference publication? All the reference I have on the AC seems to concentrate on the interior arrangement rather than the exterior lumps and bumps. Many thanks, Jen.

So overall Gunship grey as the colour, heavily faded and weathered. The main thing then is the configuration at the time of desert Storm, and tail codes, what would they have been and in what colour? The kit I am using is the new Minicraft 1/144. I have nose art decals and US national insignia, the tail codes (if any) will need to be made or sprayed, hence me asking. Thanks for the comments so far, much appreciated Jen.

An upcoming new project I have on the bit next to my bench is an AC-130. Initially I wanted to do it as an earlyish camo over black scheme , but I'm now thinking of maybe a Desert Storm A/C. In Desert Storm a gunship was shot down with the loss of all of it's crew, the aircraft in question was 69-6567 'Ghostrider' callsign Spirit 03. Can anyone help me out with the appropriate colours and markings for this aircraft? Photos would be especially helpful to show the lump and bump count. So far I have one photo which only shows the left front of the A/C in flight. Thanks, Jen.

All these happy customers in one thread! Thanks guys! :D Jen. (Just to clear up any slight confusion, MA are selling my engine sets. Ali at A2Zee models now stocks them as well )

I have just finished this kit and the only fit problem I had was the underfuselage piece. Even that was ok if fitted gradually and squeezed into place as I went. The wing fit can be dramatically improved by the simple expedient of completly removing the locating tabs. HTH, Jen.

Having nearly completed a Hasegawa Spitfire with the Aeroclub fuselage I can agree that it does look superb when done. However, the Hasegawa kit can cost as much as twice as much as the ICM and then you get to pay another £7 for the fuselage on top of that!! I found the new fuselage parts to be a tad crude in areas, and the fit was not great either. In summary, my money would still go on the ICM kit since the extra cost of the Hase/Aeroclub more than covers the cost of aftermarket decals and a couple of bits of resin for the ICM kit. HTH, Jen.

I'd love to join in if I may? Initially with a pair of PK108 Westland Lynx helicopters :D Jen.

I have almost finished building one and I've found it pretty impressive. The thickness of the glazing is not really noticeable once it's built. The interior looks a little sparse at first but is quite convincing once painted. I added seatbelts to mine. I added the MG and also the circuit breaker panels and throttle quadrant. It's nearly done now, I'll post a pic up when it's finished. Jen.

If you buy a set of my resin J engines you will only need the AC130 kit and a few easy mods. Saves you buying two kits and saves you wasting money paying out for a J kit that has useless engines anyway! Jen.
