  1. Hi, very quick question to the 60 family experts.

Has the USCG ever fitted ski shoes to its Jayhawk’s? I’ve seen the USAF with standard ski’s but not the USCG, got to wonder they would need them in Alaska, if so how is the twin tail wheel accommodatated?

    Cheers in advance.

  2. Hi all,

A quick question for all the P-47 experts out there, I’d like to build either a 1/48 or 1/32 P-47 flown by Cptn Quentin Aanenson, USAF in Northern France, 1944.

Does or did any of the decal manufacturers print the decals for his machine, I think it’s Topsy, or at least this one was the one he crashed.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. andyf117, that’s the one I’ve been working on today. Leaking Tail gearbox input shaft seal. That and GZ are the two we have at Newquay.

A kit would certainly be good - I see this one almost daily:

That’s the one I’ve been working on today, leaking tail input seal, not an uncommon fault on the 92.

Strictly speaking, it's company legal departments trying to add a claim of revenue potential to the annual justification of their budget as well reminding executive management of their ongoing aggressive actions to protect the companies brand. There's no revenue to speak of.

    Well that’s me corrected then😉

  5. I’d buy and build more than one, especially as I work on the U.K. ones with Bristow😁

I guess it’s the old chestnut regarding licensing, greedy corporate suits with deep pockets.

  6. A question for the Eagle guys on here.

I’d like to model my Tamiya 1/32 F-15’s in markings of the Lakenheath based squadrons. That’s all well and good but I can’t seem to find any decal options to allow this, can anyone help me with advice on achieving this?

I’ve asked Daco to reprint the 1/32 decal sheet but I can’t see this happening this side of my lifetime, so it’s down to you eagle experts to advise me.

    Thanks in advance

Have fun with your build.   I have one of these kits and a decal sheet with one of the 601st TASS helicopters out of Sembach AB in West Germany.

I didn’t know anyone did decals for the Pave Low in 1/48, or have I got the wrong end of the stick on that?

The windows above the pilots were green.  The support arms you asked about are from the HH-53B airframes.  There were only 8 of the B models built.   And not all of them were modified into Pave Lows.  The other Pave Lows came from the CH/HH-53C airframes.   The auxiliary fuel tank supports were built into the C model sponsons.  Which is why you don’t see them.

Thanks for the information, pressing on with my Revell 1/48 conversion.

  9. Hi,

A quick couple of questions regarding the MH-53 Pavelow. The cockpit upper glazing colour, is it smoke or dark green? Or is it something else?

Secondly, the support struts fitted from the upper airframe to the sponsons, I see pictures with and without, any reason when they came in and why (apart from the obvious, to support the sponsons)
    Cheers in advance.
