  1. Hi Mike, Just as Phantom says, the wing tip and main wing has square holes. I just used right angled plastic sprue, filed down and shaped. Once in place it was held in position with super glue. The kit profile of the wing helps mask the ad hoc fix, it would have been a lot easier if Tamiya had included the wing fold, never mind though it's a great kit and I will be building another one very soon. Cheers Ian.
  2. Hi all, Thanks once again to all that helped and influenced me with regards to this build. The first thing I will say is, I'll never again consider using the markings from the kit, ever. Aftermarket all the way for my next Phantom conversion, back-dating a J to a B using GT's set. Anyway, I built this for the Carrier build on Britmodeller but feel I should pop it on here because I loaded it out from recommendations and pictures from ARC guys. Here she is, the decals fought me all the way and I did replace some as they disintegrated in front of my
  3. Can you tell me as well? I've tried a few things but with no where as good a finish as you. Also, did you spray or brush paint the inside of the canopies?
  4. Very nice addition to your collection and in 1/72, well done sir.
  5. Sorry to chip in on this thread, but has anyone seen the Black Dog 1/48 sets for the Viking? Detailed U/C, Nose bays etc, there's even a pair of pods for the wing stations. They look really good on the Black Dog site just wondered if anyone's seen them in the flesh? Oh and just to give a Brit's opinion of 'those' two beers, they tend to be drunk by the youth of this country who (a) like to look cool drinking out of a bottle and (b) have yet to experiance more cultured beer from nearer to home. To the pit of misery for me then?
  6. Hi Harald, I've got one sat with some 1/72 Sea King spares. I'm in the UK so would just have to cover the postage. PM me and I'll get it sorted. Ian.
  7. At last a AW109E to model, I only wish I modelled 1/72. Looks really nice though, good luck with the sales.
  8. Hi Chris, Not sure if this will make a differance but hey here goes. I too have just this kit and although adding the intake would be an improvement, I'd really like to go the whole nine yards and add the intake, seamless intake/compressor face and canopy. You older sets seem very hard to get so should I hold out for the forecasted new release? Cheers Ian.
  9. Really nice Apache, I like the finish and weathering. Well done.
  10. Now that's a great way to give texture to the MK 82's I'm looking at fixing to my F-4. I've done a quick internet search for products on this side of the pond and have come up with a compatible spray. Thanks for passing on this, it's a great find.
  11. So as I understand it, I can model my F-4J with a standard carrier load? Or do a clean winged bird with sidewinders and sparrows?
  12. Thanks Stefan for pointing both those things out, a rethink is in order. I'll drop the tanks and go with standard 82's. I'm doing the VF-84 scheme and can only find air to air load outs in the two books I have. Wiki has this though:- In 1965 the squadron deployed for 7 months on board Independence in the Gulf of Tonkin and flew 1507 combat sorties, logging 2200 flight hours over both North Vietnam and South Vietnam. Thanks again to all that have posted, your help is very much appreciated.
  13. Guys, thanks for all the great information. I now see what a minefield it is to accurately load out a US Navy F-4. The picture dramatically show how even in the field (on the ships) unauthorised loads could be seen, It's given me a whole evening to ponder and choose. I think I'll go for a mix of air defence and ground attack with a Centre line tank, two Sparrow's fitted forward, two Sidewinders, two sets of mk82 extended fuses on wing root pylons and two outer tanks, for the range of fuel. Thanks again for all your help. Ian.
  14. Hi all, I need some help with loading out my Tamiya 1/32 US Navy Phantom. I see Video Aviation do some lovely looking ordnance, I'd like to fit a full set of eighteen MK82 US Navy High Drag bomb's. However I'm not sure if this load out will be accurate for the early 1970's? Can anyone help me or advise to the correct loads for this aircraft? Also, and this is as long a shot as it goes, I have a set of Cutting Edge seamless intakes, CEC32030, that I was going to use. This set is supposed to remove the battle damage patches from the kit intakes. All was good until I opene
  15. It's the biggest reason I love modelling, when I pick a subject that has significant personal links to my career, so I totally understand your drive. Great looking model, I don't know how good the kits is but seen a lot on here about it. Yours looks great, well done sir.
  16. Thanks guys, much appreciated. Did look at putting the wires on the kit but can never get them to look taught enough, so my thinking is leave them off rather than they look like washing lines😂
  17. HI all, A quick out of the box build for me, apart from the aftermarket decals from Bingo Decals. The Kinetic kit is a average kit, I did look online for a few builds and sought solace in others experiences. The kit is well detailed with great panel lines etc, the choice of the older four bladed props or the new swept eight blades adds a different slant. The whole kit demands presence in either the folded or spread wings layout, I chose folded if only for the storage, the reality is being an ex-navy engineer, I have a calling to naval, carrier based aviation, UK and US.
  18. The David Clark headsets I ordered were snapped off from the ear parts to the head parts. This was down to Shapeways packing, the Rotorhead was really down to the scale, the detail in the Rotorhead was such that the material its produced in just couldn't support the main blades, it looked stunning but that's all. I defaulted back to the 3D boats head and after a small amount of work was happy with the effects, you'd have to work or fly 412's to know what is wrong, well I think anyway. How I'd get some sort of redress from Shapeways I don't know, I was so intent in getting the model
  19. Looks very nice in its early era markings, well done sir.
  20. The usual Live Resin high standard, excellent. Will these be added to your 1/48 scale Helicopter mounted weapons?
  21. Either or both a US Navy or Coastguard in 1/35 would suit me down to the ground.
  22. Very nice Floyd. Looking forward to you bringing out the updates for this kit.
