  1. Thanks for the kind words. Tank, I'm looking at modelling the C-64, Sky Crane in 1/35, yeah, 1/35, Part 4 of my Forestale builds. Unfortunately it's proving a uphill slog to find plans or any tech information to build the airframe. My only option so far is to up scale the Revell kit, what could go wrong???
  2. Gertjan, I masked them using Tamiya and Washi tape.
  3. Hi all. Please find my 1/35 Dragon MD500 from the Italian Forestale Corpo, this Government organisation has now been incorporated into the Police and so it seemed fitting for me to model a group of aircraft I used to see on a daily basis when I was working in Italy. The kits is fairly straight forward but I did get the Eduard set for the OH-6 just to jolly it up a little. The decals are from a great guy in Germany, Heli Scale Quality's Bernd is a guy who produces markings for flying models, just so happens his stuff is in 1/35 and even if you can't see what you want, he
  4. The SAM publications are the go-to books for the amount of detail you'll be modelling. I have both and they are the best. They ship internationally but I'm sure one of the big hobby shops in ten US will stock them. Quick google found this https://www.abebooks.com/book-search/kw/modellers-datafile-sam/
  5. Thanks guys. Thats some build in 1/48th, stunning. Ive approached Erickson direct so we'll see how that works out. Thanks again.
  6. Hi guys. Fairly new here so apologies if this has been done before. I'm looking for any and all info on the CH-64 Skycrane. Any scaled plans, drawings etc that you're aware of? Anyone on this forum who has connections with this majestic helicopter? Maybe a flying R/C model kicking around? I'd like to look into building one in 1/35, yes 1/35 scale and could do with some referance material, photos are great but drawings give dimension. Thanks in advance for any help.
  7. I know what you mean Rod, not ideal but what can I say. If you do buy the conversion make sure the guy on Shapeways has modified the original. I sent him all the glitches and measurements I found to be slightly out. In addition I've sent more suggestions on how to improve the Rotorhead. I appriciate it's a tad over what I'd normally pay for a conversion, but I got so far down the line in getting the designer to do it I felt compelled to buy. Thanks for the kind comments, motivates me to finish the MD500 of the Forestale.
  8. We will have to see if Italeri adds the resin set as standard or it's another re-release with a £40 addition to the kit price. Also so will Italeri add Sand filters? Time will tell I suppose.
  9. AgustaBell 412EP, Italian Forestale Corpo. Dragon UH-1N, 1/35, gets an update to its big brother. For a while now I’ve wanted to build a AB412, after working on the RAF Griffon’s at RAF Shawbury then meeting up with various AB412’s whilst working in Italy, I’ve held a soft spot for this old timer that’s shown how to adapt without losing its basic appeal. We all know the Dragon UH-1N, don’t we?? Well for those that don’t it’s a heavy weight in rivets and panel lines, mind you so is the real thing. After digging out my notes I set about looking at what was nee
  10. Hi Chuck, Lets deal with the decals first, Whirlybird models sells three 1/48 decal sheets for the Yellow bird Mk3 Sea Kings, go on his web page and click top right to download his pdf price list. As for the airframe then you should have the majority of the parts in your kit, the Six Blade tail rotor, the correct cutouts for the Windows etc, you will however depending on the level of detail you want to achieve, need to fill certain areas, add a buldge on the port side transmission deck etc. The biggest sticking point would be the Sand Filter. Only later RAF Sea Kings h
  11. Great looking Huey, loving the scratch built parts and the weathering. Very nice sir.
  12. Thanks for the kind words guys. GeeJeez, I use jewel tool cement on all my clear parts, I find with its applicator and relatively quick setting time it gives me a better chance od getting the finish I want. When it dries it's clear as well. I have a set of MD500 high skids coming from Heliscale for my current build.
  13. Hi Guys, Continuing my Italian Forestale theme, here is my first fully completed bird. I used the Italeri OH6 kit with a kind donation of the clear parts for the doors. The kit build was basic but with the Eduard OH6 parts that I thought applicable. The Decals are from a really helpful gentleman in Germany, Heli Scale provide a neat service for the RC guys but you can also get 3d printed parts in 1/35 and the decals for a whole host of special schemes, check him out. I've enjoyed the simplistic approach to this build but I've really enjoyed it being a great
  14. Thanks Swashplate and GeejeeZ for your kind words. I have a soft spot for all things Italian and having spent three plus years working in Italy on a AgustaWestland facility, I really love the agencies that operate the differing types. GeejeeZ, when it's finished I'll put a thread on this forum explaining how I achieved the build but yes the exhausts are from Shapeways, see the Upturned Exhuasts thread.
  15. I must say from the off that I'm in no way an expert on the Huey family, I'm defiantly no expert on the Dragon UH family of kits. This is a 'work in progress' though of a subject I've long wanted to make in a kit and being a sucker for big helicopters, due to age and eyesight, I have taken a lot of the heavy rivets and detail off the donor UH-1N kit. Negative and positive comments please. I'm still working on the Main rotor configuration etc but I'm happy with the overall effect though. After the Rotor a good panel wash and she's done I think?
  16. Your usual very high standard Norbert, they both look excellent.
  17. Thanks Tank, Ive used this guy for High Skids on a Bell 412 in 1/35 and a Bell Jet Ranger in 1/32. I found both skids to be a rough texture. Having said this, I didn't ask if they could be made in a smoother finish. I must also point out that I've just used his decals and they are very good. Thanks again Tank.
  18. Hi guys, Appoligies if this has been done to death but I'm looking at the Dragon 1/35 MD500 kit and its skids. In a nut shell they look not so tall, I fact they look like the normal height skids, so can anyone tell me the dimension of the two skids in any scale? The skids I have have the standard fairings on and from just my eyes view the rear skid seems short. I'm looking for the PI Magnum, Red MD500 look. Alternatively dose anyone know of aftermarket skids I could use? Thanks in advance, the Woo.
  19. No problem, glad to here you got sorted out by Shapeways, that's good old American customer service for you. Thanks for the link to the guy in Germany, I do like his Sea King blade fold stuff and the Bear paws in 1/35. I remembered lastnight that Cine-Scale is another good source of parts in 3D, via Shapeways. I've got a 412 Rotorhead, fixed step, spectro and a second set of exhausts coming. It's the first time I've ordered from this guy so time will tell I'd the parts are good. Heli-scale is another go to for me, good for decals of obscure civil helicopters. Another g
  20. Sorry I didn't explain. I'm a UK Licensed Engineer with a FAA A+P. I'm type rated on the Bell and AgustaBell 412 products, so I had a bit of inside knowledge of the 412. If if anyone else here has worked on the 212/412 they will know that the whole Twin pack with associated tinware and exhausts. If my training is right, the defector plates are riveted in to the exhaust. Hope this helps?
  21. I've seen and worked on RAF Griffons with these fitted, not sure about the USMC though. The Italian AB412EP's seem to have had a mix of deflected and standard fit. Mind you the different arms of civil, police etc seem to have 412 SP's and EP's and a mix of a few 212's with differing exhausts. Literatly a referance minefield.
  22. No problem HeavyArty, https://www.shapeways.com/product/K899H3669/bell-212-412-1-35-bended-exhausts?optionId=64464624&li=marketplace These are the ones I used, very nice because you get the deflector plate to glue inside.
  23. ccrqw, I've also just used a set from Shapeways. My first cut shattered the exhaust, salvageable but I was annoyed. The second one I put damp kitchen tissue in, to add a bit of rigidity. That one came off the sprue ok and I was able to trim it down. Once I'd finished I put in in warm water then pulled out the tissue 'carefully'. Hope this helps and good luck with the build.
