  1. Thanks for the suggestion!! I have now looked at their line and saw the 1965 color, which would be just fine but all back ordered. I have tried mixing my own and I’m going to use a mix of MM Japanese Int Met Blue and gloss white. It should also work just fine for my purposes.

    1/32 DO 335 kits

Hi all, Back to the hobby after a 5-6 year break. Now that I have a few builds under my belt and am starting to feel my (admittedly novice) skills return, I wanted to gift myself a 1/32 DO 335 kit. My question here is if you had a choice between the HK Models and the Zoukei-Mura kits, which one would you choose? I’m not asking about which is the best, most accurate, rather just looking for input on which manufacturer would provide a more pleasant build experience. I do see that the ZM kit has a ton of aftermarket goodies out there but that’s not a factor in my decision. I do have the ZM J
  4. Hello, I’m just getting back into building, for the second time this century, and I was looking at building the old AMT ‘63 Vette using the classic metallic blue. I remember this kit from my childhood as well as the Testors rattle can color. Much to my dismay, that color has been discontinued. Can anyone recommend an appropriate alternate for this color? Thank you kindly!! Wally

  8. Hello, Cleaning out my stash, would like to sell the following kits. All prices listed are negotiable. Prices do not include shipping charges. Would prefer to sell only to US addresses, but that could be negotiable, as well. These are not on any eBay auctions. I am located in Fargo, North Dakota (58103). All kits are open and unstarted unless noted otherwise. 1/48: Hasegawa: Ki84-I Frank - JT67 = $25 N1K2-J George - 09484 = $25 Acc Min: P-39Q Racer - 0408 = $30 SB2U-3 Vindicator - 480202 = $35 F3F-2 = $25 Gulfhawk = $45 SBD-3 = 25 SBD-5 = 25 Revell/Monogram: B1-B "older" packag

  10. The Tamiya spray cans are great for large jobs and also for the small fiddly bits that are black, white, etc... AS12 and TS30 are awesome for BMF's, combine them on the same aircraft for variance. Try AS12 on the "hardware" - landing gear, etc.. and TS30 as the overall finish. Nice contrast. Even better when you heat them up in warm water for a minute. Wally
  11. Oh, sorry... When cutting, if you cut back "under" your straight-edge say at a 45 degree angle so that the edge of the adhesive is futher back than the top edge of the material.
  12. How does under-cutting this stuff work, does that improve the feathering? Wally
  13. Good evening! Just logged on and noticed these responses, only received one email for huey gunner's response... Anyway - Thanks for the "reality" point of view. I do agree with you on the practice part, even in the couple weeks that I've used the Eclipse, I've noticed that I am concentrating more on technique and the end result. I really like the Eclipse and have canceled my order for the Omni. I find it much easier to clean than the 200 and the 200 detail that I have. In fact, I can go as far as saying that I am quite happy with my choice and I'm not looking back. I appreciate your comment
  14. I've been away for awhile..... About 3 months ago, I placed an order for a Thayer & Chandler 4000G Omni A/B. Still haven't received it, the disty says that it's still on B/O with Badger. In the mean time, I used a Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon and purchased an Iwata Eclipse, thinking it would be nice to have two high-quality A/B's. I like it. After looking closer at both, seems like there is not much difference between the two. Is there really? Now, on this very forum, I heard T&C was the end-all A/B to have. So when I finally decided that my skills were at least ready to try something
  15. Hello, Could someone enlighten me on the greenish and black camo scheme for this bird? Is there an RLM color for the green? I think I know what to use for the black... Thanks!!! Wally
  16. Hey all, Looking at my first of the subject - S. H. 1/48 F2G Super Corsair - and I have no choice but to make it work. They just provide a vac-form canopy, well actually two (thank the plastic gods!!). Any words of wisdom, tips, processes, etc to help me along in this adventure? Much obliged!! Wally

    Purple

I tried MK's suggestion... I have some French Blue and Guards Red. Looks good enough for this application. Thanks for all the suggestions!!! Wally

    Purple

Thanks Joe! I'll just keep tryin'. The reason for the yellow is a 3 color tail on this one, Red, Yellow and Purple. I put the yellow on first so it would also be a nice background for the red....brings out the red more. Guess that's not the case with purple.

    Purple

Hey all, I need to spray about a 2-3 sq inch area of purple. Can't find "just purple" at the hobby shop...no one in Fargo sells Tamiya or similar. Anyone have a mix for your basic purple? Haven't tried just mixing red and blue, but is that all it takes? Interestingly enough, I found some craft-type acrylic at Hobby Lobby, started out really nice. After what I estimated would be the final coat, I left it to dry for a couple hours. When I came back, I had a nice shade of BLACK!!! I had a yellow undercoat, guessing that's not the thing to do with this type of paint... Thanks!! Wally
