We are planning to stay for about a week in the Dayton area. So plenty of time :-)

Hi everyone: As usual I'm planning a trip to the US to visit some aircraft museums. This time I'm going to the Dayton area to visit some museums. USAF museum, MAPS museum, Grissom AFB, Armstrong Air & Space museum are already on my list. Does anyone perhaps know if there are some more other interesting aviation related things to see in the Dayton area? Possiblity of a base visit? thanks in advance. Greetings Ludo

Mmmmm I missed that. Really a shame. After the effort I hade to make to get in. Being a non US citizen, they really made it hard to get in. Oh well maybe more luck next time :-)

Hi Mark I visited the History & Traditions museum last November and I never saw the Canberra there. Maybe it is gone or are there more places on Lackland where ther are aircraft on display? I visited the site where the SR-71 is on display. Greetings Ludo Kloek

I completely agree. But on top of visiting the museum, We where also allowed to visit the restoration hangar. Even taking pictures near the runway was no problem. And I do not know anyone on base. Well they did. Depends in what You are interested in I suppose. I was allowed to see the plane dump near the runway in China Lake, just by asking. Spend nearly a day on base driving around from one interesting place to another. Military Police stopped me on a regular base and directing me to other interesting sites. Maybe I've been lucky I don't know. But sometimes it works. Greetings Ludo
