Yeah, I think your right HAJO. If I recall, I think it was Cobra Company that made them. I did it as Razor 1 that was shot down on Takhur Ghar in the Battle of Roberts Ridge.

This is the Kinetic 1/48 MQ-9 Reaper kit. I used the Caracal decals on it. These are quick, fun kits to build and help me get my mojo to build going again. Hope you like it. Ron

This is the Italeri 1/72 MH-47E kit that I finished a few years back. I added the mini-guns from ArmyCast and some photo-etch from Eduard. I don't remember if I added anything else too it. It's had it's share of disasters, but has been repaired a few times. Ron

Thanks AFM!

Thanks Dutch! I'm happy with the results, but if you get in close it's by no means perfect.

Thanks Storm! I really liked this retirement scheme they did. The Viking community had some real nice paint jobs. Did you ever get to photograph many of them?

The S-3 kit from ESCI was pretty straight forward. It went together well, it's lacking in some detail, but pretty easy to overcome. I have another one done that I did before this one and one more waiting to be finish hoping for some decals to be done for an airframe I want to do.

I've been finally getting around to taking photos of some of my completed kits and getting them posted. That being said, I may not exactly remember everything I did or added. I finished this S-3 at least 10 years ago. This is the Esci kit with the Pyn-up decals. I also used the Goffy Models cockpit and wheel well/bomb bay set. I think these are produced by Blackdog models now, but could be wrong. I also used the resin engine intakes that at the time were made from a guy on Ebay. I believe these were picked up by someone, but also can't remember. I also used the Paragon wing folds.

That is what is great about them. You can do multiple airframes and in a lot less time than the 1/72 kit.
-
Thanks Steve! I got to see this jet up at the London Ontario Airshow. The Georgia folks always showed up and brought all the great patches to sell!
-
Thanks Chris! The base and mounting were easy, using the closed doors and just creating a mount against the back wall of the bomb bay and making a hole through the bay doors.

This is the second Academy 1/144 B-1B I just completed. These are great kits and a fun build. I only replaced the nozzle from the kit with the KA Model ones. These are really nice and add a lot to the model. I also used the wonderful Caracal decals for the 37th BS with the 'Symphony of Destruction' nose art. These are beautifully printed and really show up well, even at 1/144 scale! The only other thing the kit is missing is the 6 pitot tubes on the nose. I just made some out of strip styrene and stretched sprues.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I will place more pictures in the Display Case.

I used the KA Models ones. They are a little more pricey, but look really nice.

Second one is from the 37th BS.

Just finished up 2 Academy 1/144 B-1B's using Caracal 144003. My first one is from the Georgia ANG

And now for something completely different! I thought I would share this with everyone here. I'm sure a lot of you guys, like me, have a lot of cool t-shirts of airplanes or other favorite things. I have a lot of the Bad Dude squadron shirts that are beautiful looking pieces of art, so my mom made this for me a few years ago and I thought I would share it for helpful ideals to do with all these shirts I had sitting around. Now I just have to find some wall space to hand it!

I got this for Christmas from IKEA. It's the Milsbo that Charlie above mentioned. The bottom shelve has a 1/48 F-18 and S-3. It may work for you. I just bought some puck lights from Menards and put them in there.

I will send them your way. I glad to hear there is an S-3 sheet in the works. The Andrews Open Houses were great! I only made it to a few of them, but seeing the ramp and hangers full of aircraft and vehicles was always a treat and it always seemed that each branch of the service was trying to outdo the other. Living in the mid-west didn't offer up quite the same in shows, but I remember some good ones in the 80's.
-
Hey Kursad, that is cool that you were at that show as well. Andrews always had a good show. I have a few other pictures of that jet as well. Do you want me to send them your way? I would love to see you do a S-3 sheet. I've always wanted someone to do the last jets from VS-22 as well. They had some nice low-viz markings.
-
Thanks Richard. I have those decals as well, but was just wondering if someone had made the Hi-viz of that plane.

Help on B-1B 86-0121 "Symphony of Destruction"
RCarlson replied to RCarlson's topic in Caracal Models
Thanks Kursad! That works for me and make perfect sense. I like the way it turned out on the decals and just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. -
Has anyone done decals for this S-3B from VS-32? I took this at an Andrew's Open House in the late 90's and would really like to build it. I haven't run across that anyone has made these particular markings and if not maybe I can pass them along with the other shots I have and see if anyone is interested.
