  1. Some suggestions when a web site is inaccessible. LINK
  2. I didn't take advantage of any Black Friday deals this year. Sprue Brothers was enticing, but I'm slowing my purchase of new kits. And other shops weren't offering sales deep enough to prompt me to buy.
  3. I’ve seen inflated prices on second-hand kits for years, not just during these last 12-18 months. A lot of modelers are pricing kits from their stash at near-retail prices. For example, I recently saw an Italeri 1/48 A-10C offered at $50 and a Tamiya 1/48 F-14A at $105. Granted, these sellers might say, “Well, I don’t have to sell the model, so if no one wants to buy it, I’ll just keep it.” But if you’re taking the time to list the model, isn’t selling the model the point? I wrote about pricing kits several years ago. LINK
  4. Doh! My bad. I didn't realize it was already on the 1/48 sheet. Thanks! 🤭
  5. If space permits when you scale down this sheet to 1/72, here's another set of markings you might include for a 53rd WG jet. LINK
  6. With the plethora of gaudy commemorative schemes coming from the USAF these days, you'd easily have enough subject matter for a sheet.
  7. I'm still in the process of acquiring MRP paints. I tend to buy the paint as I need it, maybe throwing in one or two additional bottles that I know I'll need eventually.
  8. FWIW, one of the other respected players in your market indicates FS36440 on their sheet of F-4N/Ss.
  9. I'm hoping that SWS will eventually produce a late F-4E. It would just make sense.
  10. Sounds like a phone call is warranted before submitting an order.
  11. Loving the full color instruction sheets! Steven Brown Scale Model Soup
  12. Their phone number is listed on their Facebook page should anyone want to give them a call to confirm they're still in business. (636) 673-2565
  13. There was a time long ago where ordinance (LOL) was a bother, but I've come to realize that the right loadout can really set the character of an airplane. Consider, for example, an F-4 with only a centerline tank versus one fully loaded with missiles, bombs, etc. These days, the loadout is an integral part of my selection of a model I'll build next. 16. There are far too many colors to address each one. You’ll find quite a few options from Akan and Vallejo, which offer “out of the bottle” solutions. But you’re right, that there is a lot of variation in real life. As I plan future builds, I’ll probably modify these these colors or mix my own from scratch. My advice is to not obsess over finding the "right" color. Trust your eye and use the real-world variation to your advantage.
  17. I saw a new 1/35 M110 howitzer announcement, I think from AFV Club. And maybe a 1/32 nose (or 1/24?) of a B-17, possibly from HK.
  18. I can completely relate. As much as I enjoy the hobby today in my 50s, it’s not the same joy I experienced in my teens. I think there’s room for the anal builds while mixing in a few fun builds along the way. A few years ago I wrote about painting cockpits black as a way to increase my output. Maybe that’s a technique you might consider. LINK
  19. This F-16D (er, X-62A) is quite colorful, and it's not even a commemorative scheme! Just don't make us apply decals over all those complex curves. LINKAGE
  20. I'll echo bashace's comment. Soooo many good photographs to be found in these Facebook groups. Many came from veterans, so they've never been published before.
  21. Painting and weathering. I realize that appears to be two items, but they're inextricably tied in my mind.
