  1. Good to know Phil, does the Natops manuals show that info for the R and S
  2. nope pulled that off the web during a search for the Sierra cockpit pics for the build I am doing does the R have the same cockpit as the block 3 Sierra? I noticed the hand controllers on the center console and thought only the Sierra has those
  3. Oliver just fyi, I don't think that the cover on the top of the hydraulic deck cover behind the upper wire strike cutter is actually there, at least not on any Blackhawk I have seen. The hydraulic cover is a one piece fiberglass cover and the support struts for the wire strike go to the back end of the cover and are riveted into place. The pics in the instructions are wrong in the placement of the upper cutter so check pics and see how far it needs to move and the angle of the arms and that will help. The darker area that is in the pics posted above are non slip coated area's and you see in
  4. Sanded the tail rotor pedal boots off since they are very bad looking and going to replace with glue soaked tissue paper cut to size. Cut out the avionics recesses under the pilots seats and lined with strip will again cover with tissue paper since not much is visible underneath. Used the Eduard cockpit as a guide for the holes and cleaned up with sanding sticks. Made the door edges with strip and will glue the Eduard piece to that to give it the proper depth of the inner door. Also cut out very carefully the inner parts of the Eduard door with a sharp blade and ruler.
  5. Look what came in the mail today from Sprue bros. Live resin 240's and Eduard photo etch. Have started small work on cockpit sanded doors clean made the cyclic out of strip and rod kit piece is anorexic. Made the MFD backs from strip laminated together and added small strip for the cooling vents on the sides. The collectives in the kit are wrong only the copilot is thicker. The pilots has a shaft from the grip back to the back so will make that with rod. Made the correct mod to the sides of the glare shield by cutting part of the side off. A thin piece of sheet will be put in place and the tai
  6. Yes I am Richard, I plan on having the stencils custom made so all I have to do is paint the black and shades of grey
  7. Here is how I look at things, 1. I am a Blackhawk Instructor Pilot, I have flown them for over 20 years in all conditions and all missions, and still fly them so I am intimately familiar with this helicopter. Does that make me an expert, that's a mater of opinion. If you ask a question I will give you the honest answer. 2. Other services hawks like this one are open for discussion, and I value input. If what I am doing is wrong let me know, most times I try to build models that represent current operational ones. If it isn't then it is a what if or as I have seen in my 20+ years in the mili
  8. Academy kit, Eduard photo-etch, Live Resin M134 and M240 window mounts and some custom made details will round out the kit. Pics to follow.
  9. The 160th uses the CAAS cockpit that is why the displays in the -47s and -60s are the same so they can be switched out. The UH-60M has a different MFD display
  10. most are a faded black but I have seen some that are green as well so mix and match there is no wrong answer Erick
  11. love the preshading and the fading your doing. Looks perfect, prob could have gone even heavier with the fading as they get grungy quick in the desert and that black fades quickly. We have new M models here that the green is almost olive color now so yours is looking spot on. Erick
  12. another thing to consider as well is no two Blackhawks have the same equipment for the most part, I flew hawks with and without the aft rack behind the center console. check references and then build off of that. Equipment changes rapidly and no two console has the same gear so and most consoles weren't as big as the ones in the kit either
  13. Yes the Chaff hits the rotor blades sending thousands of shards into the air making the radar go boinkers..
  14. Toying with the idea of starting my own decal line specializing in Helicopters from all branches of service (USA,USAF,NAVY,USMC, and COAST GUARD) and in all scales 1/72,1/48, 1/32, 1/35. Would be from Vietnam to present day more than likely starting out with some Hawk stuff then working outward, the new MH-60S kit has some great markings that I am drooling over. Nothing set in stone yet but looking for feedback to see how many here would be interested.. Erick
  15. More than likely an incentive flight, notice the guys in the seat are AF, in an Army helo. If your going to occupy a crew seat you are supposed to be wearing flight gear ie helmets, and vest but since these guys aren't who knows.
  16. This particular model the S isnt set up for Sub hunting like the earlier others, this is designed for Carrier replentishment, SAR, Medevac, VIP basically took the General Support mission of the Army and painted it Grey
  17. Looking at the kit I was hoping for some of the older issues to be fixed, but alas it is still the same kit with just a new Navy sprue and decals. The other sprues added to the kit are from the MH-60G and MH-60L DAP kits. This gives you the shortened ESSS wings, Hellfire Missiles, 2.75 Rocket tubes, M-134 Miniguns and the M2 .50Cal, and external rescue hoist. The new sprues that make it the MH-60S are very well done, there are some things that Academy has added that can be used on some of the other kits like the rotor brake for the cockpit can be used in both the MH-60G/L as well as some ot
