  1. Kia Ora peeps I'm working on the re-released Italeri kit of the UH1-N in the ISAF markings, and I'm using the Aires(? must check that!) resin interior set - it's actually for the D but I'm not going to let THAT stop me! It'll end up being a bit of a kit-bash between the two. Anyways, Googling these critters seems to draw a blank, the only photos I can find are of USMC birds. What I really need are some decent shots of the interior and exterior. So far I've sprayed the interior (cockpit and cabin floor and fuselage sides) in black but I feel like I'm running on guesswork for the remainder.
  2. Hi peeps; I'm just in the process of readying a P-40M interior for paint, and I noticed in the detail & Scale book that the photos of the P-40N cockpit show it to be a quite different colour to Interior Green (which is what I would have expected/assumed it to be). Did Curtiss use their own brew of Interior green similar to Republic? I don't know if the aircraft in the photos is restored or preserved. I'm curious about this now... Cheers Mike A
  3. Kia Ora I'm on the hunt for a decal sheet for a 1/48 Ploesti raid Liberator. Either the Aeromaster Pt1 sheet or even the original Scalemaster sheet that came with the Promodeller boxing would be fine; if it has the national insignia even better. If neither of those then perhaps the Aeromaster Pt2 sheet. If anyone has any other sheets by other companies I'm open to suggestions! Can pay postage etc by Paypal. Many thanks, Mike Aldridge
  4. Kia Ora good people Well, the paint is barely dry off the last project and I'm thinking of the next one, namely the Italeri A-20G. I'm thinking of doing it in the kit markings of "La France Libre" with the invasion stripes. What I'm having trouble coming to terms with is the lack of Medium Green splotches noted on the painting instructions - my understanding is that the Medium Green was a pretty much standard affair for that period and type of aircraft - allowing, of course, that there are ALWAYS exceptions. So, I guess the upshot of my question is, should this aircraft have Med Green over
  5. Anthony, again so sorry for the delay in getting that book to you! Thanks for the kudos on the Wessex; it's not a particularly difficult kit although it could easily be made more difficult by adding loads of extra detail. I have a couple more here in the stash that I might have a bash at. Plus a Merlin and a couple of UH1s in various guises. Your helo's coming along nicely; I wish I had that much patience and skill. How's the restoration of the Auster coming along? keep in touch mate Mike
  6. G'day John thanks for the compliments. Although Revell did do a 1/48 Wessex, this ain't it - this one's the Italeri 1/72 one, which, adding to the confusion, was also reboxed by Revell. The Revell 1/48 kit goes for ridiculous prices (IMO), all the more reason for some like Airfix or Italeri (hint hint!) to release a new tool one in that scale! Cheers Mike A
  7. Hi peeps This is the Italeri Wessex HAS3 with Pavla hump and radome, as well as the cockpit set. Otherwise pretty much OOB apart from a bit of added detail around the rotor head. The roundels are wrong for this airframe I know, but I just liked the look of the 'D' type better. Call it artistic license if you will. Cheers from Aotearoa Mike A
  8. Hi Guys Having read about the RNZAF's use of Avengers to spray diesel on Japanese crops to deny them a food source, does anyone have any pics of the apparatus that was used, or even a description? I can only imagine that it would have been some sort of jury-rigged contraption cobbled together in the field, and involved either drop tanks or a long range bomb-bay tank. But that's just guessing... any ideas/help welcome! Cheers Mike
  9. I didn't know there were decals for Helen's Broomstick! :o Cheers from NZ Mike
  10. G'day Anthony dat Mossie's looking real nice - how much further to go on it? As per my email the other day, the one at MOTAT is mostly assembled, but you can't get close to it to see any of the details :( Those prop blades look strangely familiar... Cheers Mike
  11. WOW! Nice work there mate, I like how the camo's turned out. Looks very outback-ish! What are the decals from? Was this straight from the box? I notice yours has the chaff/flare dispensers on the rear fuselage, whereas the Revell kit I'm currently working on doesn't (and I couldn't be bothered adding them either!) Here's a pic of mine, going to be in Wot-if markings from across the ditch...
  12. G'day Norbert Hey, many thanks for the link - that's way more than I was hoping for! Cheer, Mike
  13. Hi Guys Often lurk here, rarely post, but I got a few helos to get underway, and one of the first off the blocks will be the Airfix kit of the ugly Kamov KA-25. A long shot I know, but does anyone have any interior pic or drawings of the crew areas? You don't get an awful lot in the kit, and it seems wrong to close up the doors on it for some reason - it just doesn't look right all closed up! I've done a google search, but only come up with exterior pics. MTIA Mike
  14. Hi guys I'm doing the Academy F8-4E, and whilst the 'pit is mostly pretty good, it could withstand a bit of extra detailing. I'va had a snoop around on the net, but I can't find any interior shots of the cockpit. Is there anyone out there that would have a couple of pics of the interior? Cheers from NZ Mike
