  1. Hi Everyone - My old man who was an F-105, F-100 and T-38 driver, is looking to complete his collection of 1:32 (he has the Trumpeter Thud and Hun). Does anyone have a Collect-Aire T-38 kit they would sell. I know this is a long shot, but he would really like to have it. Please feel free to contact me here, or at singerirv@gmail.com Thank you!
  2. Thanks guys for the replies......I'll revisit this stuff with your suggestions.
  3. Hi all - I've tried several time to use this stuff in my airbrush (mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinner), and pressure settings between 20 and 40 psi......I always use my electric mixer to spin up this stuff, but it seems to always make my AB clog and spit chunks of what looks like the pigment. Have tried both gray and white versions....old and new bottles..... has anyone had success spraying this stuff thru their airbrush? TIA, Irv
  4. Ouch....Corey - that hurts! LOL.... my old man flew the Thuds in the 119th! To him, they were everything! Irv
  5. Everything there is to know regarding Future and scale modeling: http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html
  6. I have covered small canopies with bare-metal foil, burnished the foil down very tight (use a toothpick), then using a FRESH #11 blade, cut away the frames....I've successfully done this with 1/144 canopies :-)
  7. I'm right in there with Sledge....I spent some $$ (about $15) for a very good quality 1.5 inch, soft brush, and simply brush on the Future. The self-leveling properties of the Future will not leave any brush marks, and decals lay down beautifully.
  8. Thanks Aaron - I'm slowly getting back into it :rolleyes:/> Irv
  9. I'm onboard with Hawk here....I think it's easier to control a wood chisel then thinner on q-tip. Just my 2 cents worth.
  10. Hi everyone - after a 9 month disappearance act....I'm back, and back to work on the Storch.... work Hopefully, I won't pull another vanishing act :evil-laughter:/>
  11. Do you have a pic of the engine on the custom stand you built for it?
  12. Thanks Richard - wait to you see the PE that goes on the fuselage walls.....the Eduard kit is quite comprehensive.

  15. Hi Scott - is that you in the cockpit?
  16. I did look it up...Yup, 534 was a member of the 141st at McQuire. My old man was a member of the sister squadron, the 119th at Atlantic City.
  17. Tiger - this was the NJ-ANG unit at McQuire AFB? 141st I think?<br>
  18. Next update: more to come....
  19. Thanks Richard. The Eduard set really makes the interior more interesting. Stay tuned for more; I'm enjoying this build.
  20. Next update....thought I'd try annotating the pics differently more to come....
  21. Thanks Guys - all good responses. That video was very insightful.
  22. Hi everyone - I have some small diameter aluminum tubing. About 1/:32 OD. What is a good way to cut this tubing without crushing it? I have a dremel but maybe not the right cutter? Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks all
  23. Thanks Guys - more great insight....I think I have PS reefer white in my stash....not sure if I have any MM Acryl White..... I'm definitely going to try the Krylon white
  24. Thanks Guys - all great suggestions. Krylon, MM, XtraColor, Floquil. I'm going to experiment. I'm pretty sure Tamiya XF-2 issues, in that it goes down grainy, has to do with the coarseness of the pigment. I've tried thinning it 1:2, 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 with X-20A thinner, and tried airbrush pressure anywhere between 15 and 35 psi, with similar results. I use most Tamiya paints, but it seems the XF-2 is just a bear to get it to go down smoothly. I have used both PollyScale and Floquil Reefer white, as well as MM white. I like the idea of decanting Krylon. That may be my next move..... Tha
