  1. Gentleman - You have cleared up the question and your help is most appreciated. Thank you! Tim
  2. Newbie - I am working on an A10 and need to glue a lead weight in the nose. I was wondering if I use epoxy to do this, will the epoxy melt the plastic? Thank you. Tim
  3. I have my answers - thank you for making the problem clearer - I appreciate it Ric, Dave, and dnl42!!
  4. Dn142 - Unfortunately I made the exact mistake you have warned about - I swiped my finger across a fuselage seam thinking that I would quickly scoot off the excess. The result was to create some slightly rough surfaces around the seam. I believe if I sanded it, it would possibly make the problem worse. I am wondering if there is perhaps a suggested method for trying to buff it out, or for the Testors users out there, a solvent that will clean the blemished surface. I REALLY don't want to trash the model because of this beginner's mistakes. Thanks Dn142 and advance thanks to any others who
  5. Newbie: Is there a way to clean off or remove excess Testors Model Master Liquid cement? Thank you in advance. Tim
  6. I bought it through Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Delux-Materials-BD44-Perfect-Plastic/dp/B0076LAVFK Tim

  8. Hi All - I am building my first model in many. many years - a 1/48 F18 Hornet. I am using Perfect Plastic Putty to do the seams. I am having trouble not applying too much putty which in turn causes excessive sanding and possibly sanding some detail lines. Too top it off some of the putty gets sanded out of the seams I was repairing. I would like to know if anyone is aware of an applicator tube to replace the PPP cap or any tricks to get more carefully applied putty. Any and all tips on doing good seam work are heartily welcome. Thank you in advance for any answers. Tim
  9. To all of you: thanks so much for the help - this is terrific. i have a much clearer understanding!! Maybe there will be an air show near me one day and I can see an F18 or F15 up close. for now it's time start painting my F18 wheel wells. thanks all! tim
  10. Scooby - Thanks for replying. So does an F18 or F15, for example, when totally clean actually have white landing gear? If so, what material is the landing gear made of? Thanks for the input!! Tim
  11. (new to hobby) I have seen a lot of on-line images of model jets with white landing gear and/or wheel wells. Can someone tell me if this is realistic or does normal wear and tear cause the whole apparatus to be dark and grimy - extremely weathered - or do the military services keep there jets in pristine condition at all times? Thanks in advance. Name's Tim
  12. I just started using this forum yesterday and I have to say I am REALLY happy to find a resource for help as I enter a new hobby. My thanks to everyone who responded! I have ordered both gray and white Tamiya primer for my stock. Thanks again! Tim
  13. I am a first time modeler and plan to use acrylics on my 1/48 Revell F/A-18E. WIll the acrylics require an undercoat to give better adhesion? If so, what should the undercoat be? Thank you! Name's Tim.
