  1. Work continues at a glacial pace!! The reason being is that in an attempt to get the strongest bond possible I'm flooding the joints with tube cement (God knows when the last time I used tube cement was, but I've got shed loads of the stuff from all the starter sets that I've bought over the years!), a section at a time, leaving it a couple of days, doing the next section and so on and so on, and the using 5 minute epoxy on the inside of the joints where ever I can. Seems to be working so far, and here is the fusalage almost together. Now you will notice a small gap the middle of the fusala
  2. Well, its been a little while since my last update so here's what I've been up to. Its not a great deal but life has been getting in the way just recently. Here are the 2 scratch built main gear bays. Built up, as with the nose bay, from the supplied 2mm sheet. I used the set of supplied templates to get the basic shape and then tweeked them to get the best fit within the lower wing. And this is them loosely dropped in place. As with the nose bay, these are just the basic shape to get the positioning right. All details will be added later, Mark
  3. Yeah I know, its like I said, the forward does shouldn't be open but as yet I don't know in what setting the final aircraft will be, so I'd rather put the extra work in now and not need it, rather than not do it and wish I had later on.
  4. Well, thanks to Will and Kate I've been able to do a little more on the build today. The main bulk of the work done was the building of the nose gear bay. A set of templates is included to build this, but after building one from the supplied 2mm sheet using these templates I thought I may open up all the gear doors. This would mean that the gear bay as built would not be deep enough at the forward part of the undercarriage, so a new was built. This isn't a fault with the kit, as the forward doors shouldn't be open on the ground anyway, so the kit supplied templates would suffice, its just me m
  5. First job was the horizontal stabilizers. These are formed from 3 parts, the bottom and 2 top parts. This arrangement ensures that the correct angle is acheived without any fuss. The trailing edges needed thinning quite alot, but with a little time and patience a pleasing result is your reward. I then scribed in the main panel lines, with the movable surfaces being excentuated more. Mark
  6. There have been many kits released over the years that we wish we'd bought. Sometimes these come out again and we talk ourselves out of buying them again. Then kids/life/marriage (rearrange in your own order), come along, the kits come out again and yet again you dont get them. This is my long awaited kit. This kit is a monster. I don't know where I'm going to put it when its finished, and I don't care. I'm building the kit with the SCA (Shuttle Carrier Aircraft) conversion set with a Revell Orbiter on top and will depict both vehicles as they appeared during the final Approach And Landing Tes
  7. I've got space for 2 in my car. I live in Burton on Trent, and will be travelling up the A38, and A5, so if anyones on the way, I'll gladly pick you up and drop you off again at the end of the show. Mark

    P-51K Mustang

Hi guys, does anyone have of a picture of the area behind the pilots seat of a P-51K Mustang. I'm detailing the 1:24th Airfix kit and have loads of referances but this area seems to be conspicuous by its absence, and I can't really go much further without it. Thanks for any help, Mark
  10. Thanks Jay, your a star
  11. You get a Ford Tri Motor, a DH Heron, and a Beaver all in 1;72nd. Nice little set really, but I can't understand why, if its a civil airliners set, the Beaver only comes with the option of British Army colours Mark
  12. Hi guys, I want to open the canopy on my Special Hobby 1:72nd Bell XP-77. However I cannot find any clear photos that show how it opens. The clearest I have seems to show the canopy rolled back into the fusalage behind the pilots seat. Can anyone give me a diffinative answer on this please, Thanks, Mark
  13. I got an Airfix Civil Airliners boxed collection, a RoG Airbus A380 "Emirates", a RoG 737-800 "Ryanair", a Rog Airbus 321-100 "Retro Lufthansa", and a little 1:144th F-15A off my kids (thats the first one to be built) Mark
  14. For current and Future Eurofighter weopons capabilities check out www.eurofighter.com. All the info you'll ever need. You didn't mention which country your Eurofighter would be from as some weopons are only used by one country Mark
  15. Nice build mate. I'm buiding one at the moment and I was looking at the same scheme from twosix. Where did you find your referances for the interia? I've been trying to find some for ages, and I gave up and used guestimation instead :) Mark
